More info in those tweets, it's several threads. This would be the first game console to be officially distributed in the entire country, not just certain parts like the Xbox One, and has a ton of third-party support behind it.
Note: The NSMBU bundled with the system is a demo.

Crystalis is great, but I'm honestly not sure I'd want to play it without game genie.

    That game gets fucking hard.

I only got so far in BoF2 where they ask you if you are some random jackass and if you say yes apparently it permanently changes your name and I wasn't aware of this as a young eight chidden who just wanted to play his blockbuster rental.

Also Super Punch-Out is probably the hardest version of Punch-Out.

This doesn’t track for me at all. I adore Cryatalis, but I never found it particularly hard at all, beyond the process of learning what enemies were immune to what swords and finding out the level you needed to be able to actually hit bosses. Then again, I enjoyed Castlevania II and Zelda II and beat them without walkthroughs when they came out so I’m probably just a crazy person.

Yes, it's a significant improvement over the original, with a secret ending that actually takes some careful work to get.

Edit: That said, there are some notorious points where you get railroaded for a bit without any way to leave.

    it's solid, yeah

really, really good animations and character designs

mechanically it's about what you'd expect for the era but it has a pretty insane difficulty curve, especially in the first six hours or so, since you only have your main character in the party for a long time

it's got a powerfully compelling first chapter which imo isn't really matched by anything else in the game, writing-wise

also there's a kurt Vonnegut reference in there, for some reason, which I've been thinking about non-stop for over two decades

if you have to play BoF2, I would recommend the GBA version which fixes a lot of translation, difficulty and encounter rate issues

of course that's really hard these days so idk

BoF2 also contains the first instance of a swear word in a game that I ever encountered. It's a really minor thing in a throwaway line, but for eight year old me it was huge.

In general BoF2 suffers from much of what was going on in the JRPG space at the time. Poor translation, lack of clear signposting, uneven pacing. But it has a really intriguing narrative hook, some of the most fun party members, a great soundtrack, a town you get to build and manage, and you get to fight God, because it was the 90's and Japan had just had a cool idea about organized religion being evil.

Rand is great. His world map move is rolling into a ball! You always have to fight something when he hits a tree or rock or sign or something! There's just a whole lot of trees and rocks and signs on the world map!

did the frog, armadillo and plant have sections of the story focused on them? I think I found the others more memorable because of the sections where you have to deal with their personal plots, unless I'm just forgetting those sections for the mystery 3.

sort of. at least sten spar and jean do (you spend a good chunk of time at the frog city), rand shows up early and often and eventually joins as one of the first members

edit: hey I forgot the plant guy's name and put the monkey guy's name instead, so you're not the only one with memory problems bz

I could never figure out if Bow's name is a joke referring to the sound dogs make, or they somehow transposed his name with his weapon type.

It was more the latter dungeons basically being giant mazes filled with enemies that would poison or do other status effects and either I was just a kid or something, but I remember there being a lot of attacks you couldn't dodge?
