Explains a lot. I always felt Titanfall's popularity was undersized considering its quality. But if they fell afoul of an ancient curse then I get it

I stand by that Titanfall "fails" due to its visuals. And I don't mean to bash it.

It's not like the multiplayer in Titanfall 1 wasn't excellent too--I'd argue more than enough to detract from its lack of a singleplayer experience, but that's just me.

As a fan of the old original Infinity Ward, I know that team is capable of creating extremely satisfying setpieces and high intensity moment-to-moment action sequences. Modern Warfare 1 and MW2 are some of my favorite shooter campaigns of all time, not because of the storytelling, but because of the action and the excitement. Those campaigns are just fun. And that team, now called Respawn Entertainment, has my full confidence as a fan that they can still make top notch campaign content.

Jedi Fallen Order is pretty great. I'm not super invested in the story, but the action, the level design, and the huge setpieces in that game are pretty glorious and it's exactly the type of Star Wars experience I've been waiting years for.

That being said, I'm not a fan of online multiplayer shooters. I am bad at them. I get frustrated very easily. I only play 2-3 matches and I'm already done. So when Titanfall 1 came out, I was dismayed to learn there was no campaign and I never gave that game a real look, even though I have full confidence in Respawn. But that's just because it wasn't the kind of game that I was looking for. When Titanfall 2 came out, I actually passed on that, not because of any real reason. I just never played it. But after having played JFO, I am seriously considering installing Titanfall 2 and giving it a fair shake. No reason not to, since I got it for free from PS+ a while ago.

I like this explanation. It’s less depressing than the truth that EA cynically sent their best FPS in years out to die, and seed the muddy shell holes of no man’s land with the flower of its youth, as part of a human wave attack to try and take Activision’s trench line.

I loved Titanfall 1. Played the heck out of it. Played the Titanfall 2 demo and ended up skipping it. Play Apex Legends religiously.

I'm trying to remember what about the TF2 demo turned me off to it, and I can't. I just remember not being as enthused about the gameplay. The physics felt off I think?

What is this I don't even.

It was slower than TF1. A lot of people actually had the same reaction you did and they increased the movement speed in response.
