As long as soldiers are around, Mastermind can always make it so they're shooting at Purple, no matter what orders Purple is trying to give. Killing all the soldiers and trying it hand to hand is Purple only real chance, and that's still no better than 50/50.

Actually, that would only work in Mastermind's advantage, because the Purple Man is a huge fucking wussmeister. He's nothing without his powers.

Purple Man's got spy training at the very least, though he's likely to be rusty.

The only Mastermind story I've read is the one where he dies, so I don't know how much actual fighting ability he has.

I'm telling you, hot daughter factor will determine the Purple Man/Mastermind fight.

Persuasion aka Purple Girl vs. Lady Mastermind.

    It's a nail-biter

Then he can command everyone to kill themselves and destroy all their weapons except that sub-machine gun over there, then chase Wyngarde down and fill him full of lead. The soldiers are Mastermind's only advantage here, and once Purple Man takes them away Mastermind is proper fucked.

I don't think he has much fighting skill. From what I remember, once you get past his illusions he is pretty much a regular man and not much of a hand to hand fighter. He relies on his powers a great deal.

And yeah Spex, he was a member of the Hellfire Club. I think he was used to brainwash Jean when she had the Phoenix power.

Why do you assume a) Purple Man can get to all the soldiers at once and b) Mastermind can't get to all the soldiers first?

Chance are there are soldiers all over the place and, furthermore, the two combatants will start at opposite ends and therefore initially approach each other with respective armies in tow.

Because whatever Mastermind is influencing the soldiers to do Purple Man can counter it with 'Stop that!'. All Mastermind can do is fool people into doing something: Purple Man can stop them from doing anything.

Mastermind is capable of duping the most powerful cosmic entity in the marvel universe into wearing something resembling bondage gear and being evil.

purple man is really skeezy, but he's not powerful on that level.

I wish I had a scan of that New Avengers where Cage beats the hell out of him.

How do Purple Man's powers work? His voice? Or can he influence people with his mouth closed?

I know that's what makes people susceptible to his influence. I'm just unclear on how he delivers orders, not being familiar with the character myself.

Does he still need to tell people what to do with his voice?

If that's the case, then Mastermind can just cast illusions on the soldiers that convince them Purple Man is telling them to shoot his purple face even as Purple Man is telling them to stop or shoot themselves.

Like what Frau did in Fables to the man with the genie.

Purple Man has to use his voice to tell people what to do, yes.

Robo, for once in your life, I like your style.

The soldiers have to obey Purple Man, but that is still completely subjective to what they think he wants them to do. Fuck with that, And Purple Man is fucked.

I remember mastermind beating cyclops in a sword fight.
Oh and he was only able to take over the pheonix because he had a little psychic machine that let him control her.
And you have to be able to see purple man's skin for him to conrol you.
Thus it didn't work on daredevil that one time waaaaaaay back in issue four or five.

Okay, don't even try to tell me that the SHIELD helicarrier can be destroyed by one measly metahuman, least of all a Nazi. SHIELD is dedicated to fighting metahumans and Nazis, and surely has defenses that would prevent their home base from being demolished so easily by either sort of person.

Its a giant aircraft carrier being suspended by 4 propeller blades, what were you seriously expecting?

It's a comic book. I expect the propellers to be made of adamantium and haunted by the ghosts of a 1000 presidents (including the Robo-Lincoln of 2929).

Marvel's version of Superman is mentally unstable. Surely SHIELD's given its base of operations defenses in case Sentry were to go rogue. Defenses that would, of course, destroy someone as unimpressive as Captain Nazi.

Benjamin Franklin used foil covered window glass to create a capacitor. He then attempted to kill a turkey with the stored charge. Instead, he knocked himself out. Franklin later wrote, "I tried to kill a turkey but nearly succeeded in killing a goose."

Lady fucking Shiva bitches. "oooh ooh he can fly huur cocks. "

There is a reason that people piss their pants and pray to god when Shiva comes around. They will be hurt, badly. If they're lucky, they'll be killed in the process.
