With the plague furnace/screaming bell kit. If I do the screaming bell will I have that big ass plague furnace ball as extra bits? Cause if so I want to kit bash that onto a verminlord.
Also want to try to make a two headed verminlord.

You will indeed, yes, I think you also get enough bits leftover to make a plague monk on foot?
I haven't seen the verminlord kit personally, but there are a lot of head options in there, so you might be able to finagle an extra head out of it.
You get either a grey seer or a plague priest left over. If you make the furnace you get a easy kit bashable rat ogre, if you make the bell theres a group of 3 plague monks that 'pull a rope' but are so intertwined I dont think you could separate them for other use.

That might be tricky, those guys have horns for days. Guess it depends on which heads you use.
Yea, I'm gonna have to be pretty selective with which heads I want to use.
Looking at the heads and the pieces they need 4 of them use piece 30 so I might end up just making a resin cast of that piece or use the deceiver head since that one doesn't use piece 30.
Those are the numbers for each model that make up the head.

I don't have the kit myself, but just looking at the different ones on the store, the Corruptor has got the narrowest set. If you somehow set the head with those horns above another head, it's horns could sweep back and fit in-between the more expansive racks of the other.
I'm jealous of your double head idea, I was using the extra heads from plague monks to put multiple heads on some ogre models to make putrid blightkings since my skaven were more nurgly, and a double headed corrupter would have been awesome.
You should think maybe of merging the faces a bit more than just 2 heads and necks. you battle damage a horn where they would intersect or be in the way and make it look more like a dominant and recessive head?

Looks like I picked a weird time to finally start buying Skaven. Looks like point increases and a new warscroll for plague monks.

Not unexpected with regards to points changes at least, it's probably for the best that the Plague Monk scroll is being changed (and good for the future of the game that they are willing to fix up problem units outside of points changes) but we'll see what it looks like when it actually gets uploaded.
On that note it looks like the winter FAQ/points update is en route, but they seem to be having some trouble in getting everything online, or the schedule is off, or something, so there are some updated points for some armies floating around but not much else at present.

Luckily I am brand new to them so I can't lament any loss of stuff. I am hoping they put up the new warscroll soon though so I can see what changed from the battletome. I checked earlier and the download and battletome looked exactly the same.

so they're just gonna redo the hedonites army book?

Maybe! Who can say? They could just change the depravity table, they could wholesale rewrite the locus, nobody knows.

.Some of the biggest changes in this update are to the Hedonites of Slaanesh, who have proved to be really rather powerful – perhaps a bit too powerful! The updates for Slaanesh are designed to directly address the biggest causes for concern within the battletome, without hindering the army or impacting your Slaanesh collection in any way.

Pretty reasonable change, really, that's probably pretty similar to how I would've done it. A ~50% increase ln summoning costs and a hit to the reliability of the locus.

Hallowheart also got a nerf but done in a way that you are only ever going to use that command ability on one of three moderately expensive models.
I think I've come to the conclusion that Contrast paint just isn't for me. Comes out looking like dogshit and still takes almost as long, plus it's more expensive.
Only thing I've liked it for so far has been doing colored metallics. Looks fantastic over Leadbelcher.

Does it usually take pretty long for GW to update warscrolls? Still looks like the Skaven plague monk warscroll is the same.

Yea, contrast are great for the metallic stuff.
I really like contrast on highly detailed minis. I have a bunch of reaper minis painted using contrast and they look amazing.

Most of the better looking stuff they've shown on warcom and the like has it being used with several thinned layers instead of one thick layer, and on detailed models like sylvaneth and not something like marines. Also some more specialised applications, like for shading flowing cloth, more like a wash in the recesses
Yeh, maybe I'll use it in the future for small, heavily detailed bits like fur. Probably never again going to paint a whole model with it.
Shoulda figured this was just marketing BS.
I was painting some mechanicus for kill team. 5 layers of red paint, excluding shading and highlighting, or one layer of contrast.
Was it better than doing it the "proper" way? Not at all, but it was sufficiently good (for me) and a lot faster.
(I was also able to make the best flame effects (not OSL, just coloring a burning brazier) I have ever made in about 1 minute using 2 contrast colors.)
So it's not entirely marketing speak. But I aspire to be middling and don't exactly have high standards re:painting
Sic transit gloria mundi.

Some contrast paints definitely benefit from multiple coats. If you are looking for a really solid denim color then two coats of space wolves contrast paint is perfect.
I feel like contrast has been made into this weird thing though where it was originally meant to just get models battle ready for people who didn't like painting or felt overwhelmed by how many models they had to paint but now the expectation is that it will be just as good if not better than doing a classic paint scheme.
On this model I used contrast on everything except the scythe blade and the base and it looks great because of the detail.
This is a Space Marine and Stormcast model I painted up during the week before contrast came out where they were letting people test the paint out.
There is definitely some stuff that contrast makes significantly easier though. I don't think I'll ever paint bone using the classic paints ever again. Skeleton horde contrast paint is so good for painting bones.

Will agree that Skeleton Horde is solid. I think I ultimately get better results from Bone White + Agrax, but for little touches of bone on a model it's killer.

You might also want to try using the contrasy medium. My buddy said he gets smoother and less globby results.
I did contrast for Ultramarines and it aas more work to get a desirable outcome
The main thing I saw from people when it came out was that it's bad for stuff like Marines or AoS' Stormcast, that have lots of big smooth surfaces. The more 'organic' or greebly something is, the better contrast paint will look for it.

On the subject of contrast paints I've found them quite handy mixed in with traditional painting techniques, or for touching up bits of a model I've missed, or sometimes you just have to paint 46 separate whirly saw-blade pieces cos the kit designer is a sadist, and highlighting them all properly would be barely noticeable on the finished kit...

The Slaanesh chariot kit has this weird gimmick where you can combine two of the kits into a larger double chariot, basically, so that's technically 2 kits worth of spinny blades, but it's still very irritating!
The new Plague Monk scroll is up and about now for anyone interested, by the by.

Seems to look better with brighter colors too
