season 1 has one of my all-time favorite simpson's sight gag.
In Homer's Odyssey, I think, Homer tries to drown himself and grabs a big rock and a rope and walks all the way to a bridge. When he gets there, in the background, you can see a similarly-sized rock ... on the ground. waiting for Homer.
To my everlasting shame I have not watched Lego Movie 2 yet despite loving the first one.
Lego Batman is probably one of the best Batman movies of all time. Hearkens to Galaxy Quest both riffing on and rejoicing in its source material.
Despite the weak box office, Lego Movie 2 is a great time.
Ninjago is pure eeeeeehhhhhhh though. If that movie didn't exist and Lego Movie 2 came out at the same time (or maybe a bit later), maybe Lego fatigue wouldn't have happened.
I just watched Batman vs the Teenage mutant Ninja turtles, and it might be the perfect movie?
The shredder and Batman fight is crazy intense, Michelangelo's commentary is perfect, and Donatello's friendship with Batgirl is heartwarming. I'd recommend it to anyone else and TMNT lovers must see it.

It's really, really, REALLY good, but my one gripe is that there's a few moments that are too violent. I'd love to show it to my 10-year-old nephew since it leans into the goofiness (very well!), but then there's random touches like a closeup of a Foot soldier getting a shuriken in the face.

I haven't seen the movie, but I've seen the clip of the Turtles fighting the Penguin, and Mikey's reactions to all of Penguin's umbrella gadgets are priceless.
CN dropped the first minute of Episode 1 of Infinity Train Book Two on YouTube, and it is appropriately metal how Mirror Tulip gives herself a makeover:
So, I downloaded the CN app and watched the opining episode of Book Two, titled "The Black Market Car". The opening moments of the episode really sets the mood, showing off who MT really is - she may have started off as Tulip's reflection, but she is very much not Tulip. (The following has a description of the episode, so spoilers.)
We get to see her go through several cars (including the Kaiju Car from the One-One shorts) indulging in the experience of each, before we reach the titular car, where we find out that she's being chased by the mirror lawmen from the Mirror Car (the actual name for the Chrome Car, as we find out this episode.) This results in a well executed chase sequence where we get to see why the lawmen are so dangerous (and why MT carries a can of spraypaint) - they can use any reflective surface as a portal, and do so in some very effective ways. The final bit has her retreat into a wooded car, where she meets up with a friendly magic deer who hides her, whom she befriends. After falling asleep, MT finds the deer has disappeared - only to be hanging out with this season's passenger, Jesse. Jesse's responses set MT off, especially his naming the deer (this seems to hit home for her pretty hard, tapping into her anxieties about being her own person and not Tulip's reflection.) The episode ends with the deer falling down a hole, leaving the two staring after it.
In short, this was a good episode, and definitely set up some serious story beats that I'm looking forward to being executed on in the season.
I’ve been in the mood to rewatch The Clone Wars lately, especially with a new season coming. Is there a recommended start point? I remember the series starting really slow and not being nearly as good the first season or so.

I'll say it. The Tartakovsky Clone Wars is very good action animation (as is anything Tartakovsky does), but it's pretty light on the Star Wars worldbuilding and characterization. And is also not as good overall as the cgi Clone Wars cartoon.
Heck, any of the clone storylines in the cgi Clone Wars are personally preferable to anything in the Tartakovsky shorts.

I'd have to refute that pretty hard, save for the fact that the Clone Wars got 6 tedious seasons of time to add to the setting and it still ended up heavily retreading things. Otherwise, the shorts collectively are embarrassingly superior to the CG cartoon.
Tartakovsky's approach is cinematic storytelling over anything explicit. The shorts show us about the relationship between Anakin and Padme, how Jedi approach the process of lightsaber building, just how Arc Troopers are really a cut above Clone Troopers, and an assload of scene-based material to characterize Mace Windu, Anakin, Obi-Wan, Yoda, and several other ancillary characters that the movies show for only brief moments. We also visit a pile of planets that the "main" media pieces would never go to with all the revisiting they do, with several new aliens, creatures, and cultures added. Just Anakin's "Ghost Hand" sequence alone does a better, more interesting job of handling his prophetic arc than an entire movie trilogy does, while also showing us the kind of fucked-up shit the technology guild gets into.
If Tartakovsky had had six seasons to work with instead of just a handful of shorts, the result would've put most of Episodes 1-9 to shame, much less the CG Clone Wars.
Hell, Tartakovsky already put part of episode three to shame. He got to introduce General Grievous before the movie did, and he was portrayed as an intimidating, monstrous Jedi-killer. I mean, just look at this:
And then when Lucas used him in the movie, he was just another setpiece. I mean, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't "holy shit" like how Tartakovsky used him.

Thanks, this helps a lot. I thought I remembered something about a few episodes not being in chronological order. Not nearly as many as I thought there were.

I thought that the people writing the Harley Quinn series were just South Park types ("we're equal opportunity offenders") with the stuff with Oswald Cobblepot in episode 2.
And then episode 5 happened.
The episode features two Jewish characters, Golda and Sy Borgman. Sy was always Jewish; that's not a problem. However, he was never a landlord before. An extremely cheap landlord.
They find Harley and crew comatose, mistake them for dead, and try to figure out what to do with the bodies. They are too cheap to use proper cleaning services or employ anyone to do this. And then Golda says...
“A little Jewish lightning never hurt anyone.”
For those who don't know that phrase, it's an offensive term implying that Jews will burn down properties for the insurance money.
Finished up Infinity Train season 2, I liked it a lot and hope there's more. Lots of things to explore I think.
Wonder if the conductor knows about the Apex group "wheeling" and looting train denizens.
Want to know what Mirror Tulip will be up to outside the train.

This is a great scene but there's more to how Tartakovsky used Grievous than that, and it's way better than Lucas' use of him.
After this scene there is a bit where Dooku is dueling Grievous, training him, and he kinda clowns on him. But he does so primarily because he uses the force in clever ways and is able to fend off Grevious' barrage.
There was kind of a set rule in the shorts for how Grievous v. Jedi went. Grievous had the upper hand as long as he A: kept the Jedi confused/afraid and B: kept an unrelenting attack. But if the Jedi were able to use their force powers on him and land a hit, there wasn't much Grievous could do about that. Note in that clip there: Grievous is dodging force pushes/crushes that are fairly predictable to see. When he fights against dooku, Dooku just fuckin pulls his cloak from behind him and trips him up. And the entire time during the Coruscant chase it's a battle to land a force push/crush on Grievous while fending him off. And the second Mace does this, Grievous goes into full retreat because his shit is fucked.
Lucas use of Grievous is to get clowned on by a dingus, have him immediately lose four hands, and then punch a dumb droid while going "CURSE YOU JEDIIIIIIIIIIII"
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

That Thundercats Roar show that was hinted at last year and widely panned was quietly released onto the CN streaming app with the first two episodes now out in the wild online.
It is bad. The worst animation I've seen in recent years for a real show and even some youtube animators top it, it's literally like every stereotype of Tumblr/Calarts style is done by Liono alone, and when you count the other characters it's worse. While I never liked the She-Ra redesigns it seems to be consistent in intent from the showrunners and they did their own thing, and the Voltron show actually respected the source material. This show is just all over the place looking for non sequitur laughs and lol so random "we think we'll get away with all of this because kids are stupid," shitty uWu faces and bad anime chibi knockoffs with characters consistently not being on model because fuck you.
The first two 10 minute episodes seem to mimic the two episodes of the original show and this might be the intent going forward (although they introduce the Berbils in the episodes too), yet skip things like Liono being a boy turned into a man and have replaced his learning naivety with just flat out stupid, like Homer Simpson from post season 12 and Stan Smith from season 1 while also making him change his voice all the time because ADD. Tygra and Cheetara are blatant copies of Jerry and Beth from Rick and Morty (especially Tygra), and Snarf is now a robot cat with plot driven bail out weapons.
I think the best credit I can give it is using the old show music (or making good recreations of it), and I think the guy who was originally Snarf in the show is briefly Jaga/narrator in the first episode. Otherwise it's just bad, bad in that more grating sense of a sibling deliberately breaking something of yours for attention so you have to react as opposed to just being loud and annoying in the backyard.

Wasn't it in a later Tartakovsky short that Mace Windu crushes Grevious's chest, leading to the breathing problems and what-not that make him be clowned on all through RotS?
