A) People who are spending other peoples' money to make sure their day is absolutely perfect

Actually it is marketing that is evil. The idea that it is fundamentally about presenting you with a person or lifestyle who you should desire to be like or think of as like you carries with it the unspoken (or sometimes spoken) assumption of the other, the one who is not like you, who does not live the same lifestyle and buy the same products as you. The one you do not want to be.
There are ridiculously few ads that do not involve this in some way (even funny ads are meant to appeal by being alike you in sense of humor).
Imagine if all advertising was just a mono spaced font that listed the specs of the product in as standardized and objective as form as possible.
But as it is, every single aspect of every consumer product or advertisement is, down to the font and spacing, designed to project something about the person who would purchase it, as opposed to the type of person who would not purchase it.
