What would be the best prime color for a Maliwan paint scheme? I was thinking white or grey.
What is it?
All I can find is a line of clothing and logos
Maliwan is the weapon & shield manufacturer in Borderlands that focuses on improved elemental effects. Their color scheme is a sporty pattern in white, orange, & blue (but typically more of an azure or dark cyan than like a sky, royal, or navy blue), with a bit of black. The manufacturer's specific pattern & palette varies for different item qualities. BL uses a spread with color coded item names, similar to World of Warcraft; poor (white)/common (green)/rare (blue)/epic (purple)/legendary (yellow orange), and then usually adds a couple weird grades above epic that vary by game. But anything higher than epic quality usually has a unique paintjob.
The schemes from Borderlands 2 are:
And here's some of them actually on weapon renders:
I've always thought it would be a good look for Tau, although I'd probably make things easier and just use the Maliwan color scheme in a traditional Tau arrangement rather than try to mask things to get that diagonal effect.
Yea, these are the color schemes I'm looking to try. I'm not really in a hurry at all for these paint schemes so I did want to try doing the diagonal lines on everything as well. I do also plan on doing a cell shading look on the models so they look even more borderlands like.
I was thinking of using the ghost grey airbrush primer from vallejo but I wasn't sure if I should just use corax white or maybe one of the contrast paints. I'm gonna be using only scale 75 paints for this project after the primer that is. Or at least as much scale 75 as make sense.

I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.
This new Space Marines Adventures board game looks like another great springboard into actual 40k.
Also it's only like $40 for a bunch of pushfit Marines and all the rest of the stuff for the game, which ain't too bad.

I am kind of debating just using the color scheme for Maliwan and making it all awesome and cell shaded or trying to follow the diagonal lines and make it all cell shaded and awesome.
I really need a test model for this.
I also gotta figure out my list so I can buy the rest of it over the next few months. I'm running the 8 and 20 Fire Warriors. Was thinking of trying to find a Coldstar Commander and Commander Shadowsun in with 5 pathfinders and some broadsides. I don't think I can run a coldstar commander with Shadowsun though, I don't remember. I need to find my codex.

I'm looking at the Adepta Sororitas dice up for preorder today, and once again I'm forced to ask; why is Games Workshop so bad at making readable dice?

Is that the one from Barnes & Nobles? I saw it over the holidays, and even though I'm 10000% not getting (back) into the GW hobby, it caught my eye. Have you tried the game? I'm curious how it plays.
It loses points for not using Primaris models though. I think? They didn't look Primaris-y, but I'm only a lurker when it comes to these things. Also loses points for not actually having any Necrons in the boxes, even though it seems to be all about a fight between SM's and metal boney boys.

It's not in the mechanical sense (the rules are drastically different compared to Warhammer), but it's a great intro to Space Marine/Necron lore, and as a bonus it's also a solid way to get a bunch of the series 1 Space Marine Heroes models if you are collecting them (or just want some cool looking tacticals).
There are also a couple of expansions, one of them has the 1/32 Captain model.
Played a game last night versus Imperial Fists. I'd built a list tailor made to try and survive against Marines, my opponent had quickly thrown together a Brigade.
I still got tabled and beaten on victory points. The sheer number of rules and stats that Marines get is just outrageous right now.

I am not for a 9th edition but I am for really Gw ironing out the rules and number of books you need to play
Also I know the Space marines and primaris are the flagship IP for GW but give some of that love to the other armies as it's not fun to recognize characters from when I was in high school and in the Corps

I had my T Sons vs Imperial Fists match with the lists I posted.
The missions was... Scorched Earth? Where you can destroy objectives in their deployment zone. I lost by 2 points but I killed a bunch if his stuff.
Burnage is right about how many stacked buffs Marines gets.
One of the on going discussions about 40k my brother has is they may finally change the wheel
He is not fond of how Ragnar's company was the default look for the space wolves. But he feels Logan is going to die somehow and Ragnar will be made the great wolf {he is basically Leman travel edition}
Or if not Leman will get pickled and get a new model since the old one will not die.
But it's his debate of should he do the night runner symbol or the rampart wolf as his great company

I won that mission once against a (pre-codex) Orks player with my (pre-codex) Marines. I parked a couple of assbacks on the edge of my deployment zone to lure him forward. He went first and took the bait, then I just teleported three squads of Terminators onto each of his objectives and burned them, winning at the end of turn 1. He realized his mistake as soon as I reached for the Terminators, and we both laughed.
Ended up playing it out anyway and if I remember right he almost tabled me, but my Terminator Captain decapitated his Warboss on Wartrike in a particularly epic duel. That was one of my favorite games ever.
Also the reason I opened this thread was to post that I finally picked up a painting handle, and they're pretty great. I already use a wet palette, so now I just need to get an airbrush to complete the "why didn't I try this sooner?" trifecta.
So played a friend practicing his orks for the LVO friendly. So I brought something not suppose to be competitive but still trying out as many toys as possible. 3 Battalions because I wanted as much cp as possible.

First battalion are the shooty support. Iron Warriors havocs, oblits, and a vindi because the vehicle needed to see some sun light. I used devastation battery and the IW reroll 1s to wound vehicles warlord trait for havocs and oblits. The havocs are long range shooty that no matter what will take a chunk out of something turn one rather I go first or not. Second battalion is all about the 10 man noise marine blob. I wanted to try out the new command ability for 2 damage noise weapons. I didn't do it sadly. But still the unit did work. The last battaltion was my soul forge with AL toys and the Hydras Wail. It is just good. It does what it does.
I got first turn. Double shot my havocs blowing up two vehicles with the full buff set. And that buff is +1 to hit from the apostle, +1 to wound with vets of the long war, Re-rolling all damage rolls, and shooting twice. You will take wounds off something. Usually something important.
Since it was for the friendly it was basic rule book malestrom. I got good cards, he didn't really. I ended up winning easily partially due to that.
Big things:
1)I burned 9 cp on turn 1. Buffing havocs, reroll for the apostle prayer because of course I roll a 1 needing a 2, endless cacaphony, daemonforge and such. Chaos is so cp hungry atm.
2)Havocs wiped out whatever they targeted.
3)Keeping 3 cp let my maulerfiend not just live turn 1 but to kill character buggie in close combat.
4)I love the +1 attack on all my units if charge, are charged, or heroically intervene.
5)The daemon weapons are fun and just as terrible as always. Rolled a 1 on my first charge with the claws meaning I had to use a "close combat weapon" but in the last fight I rolled a 6 giving me 11 attacks on a big mek in mega-armor easily over killing it.
6)Hydras Wail is good.
Overall again I think CSM with Faith and Fury are good verse everyone but marines. You have lots of tools. Just not great tools verse codex marines. Like my army could target and delete a model or unit a turn easily. But that is verse Orks. Verse marines they have so many tricks its hard to do that. Top it off marines out range CSM. Out wound CSM. Out AP CSM.

The fact that GW had to layer on all these additional special rules and detachments in order to get Marines performing at the level they want (assuming this is what they want from Marines) should tell them that maybe they should take a look at the core rules and stats of the game. Especially since it's unlikely that every other faction is going to get the same level of supplemental love as the Marines.
Shut up, Mr. Burton! You were not brought upon this world to get it!

Instead doctrines that get tides which can be changed with a psychic power.
2 damage flat smites for the entire army or raven guard GK isn't bad. I am not really sold on the psi-weapon one or the nemesis weapon one.
At Mazzy- I think the main problem with the marine codex is that Primaris are undercosted now with all the stackable passive buffs.
Well that is interesting.
Heavy flamers for all?
So turn one half your army is raven guard, turn two the rest deepstrikes and spams 2dmg smites.
Seems good. And I don’t mean that sarcastically, it seems cool and fluffy as shit.
