Hopefully, they can start putting down the foundation for Doom/FF in some of the upcoming movies. A mention of Latveria here and a news report of a science experiment dealing with cosmic rays in the future there.

Doom's benevolance varies from writer from writer; in some books he's a despotic but fair ruler who ensures his people live in comfort because he's Doom god dammit, and he's going to be the best damn ruler possible, because Doom expects nothing less than perfection from himself.

Other time he's a dictator with an overinflated ego who's people live trapped in a police state, and his whole "harsh but fair" persona is just what he tells himself (and forces his subjects to tell him) to make himself feel better.

And sometimes they retcon things that he does as being done by Doombots, so it can be hard to get a bead on the character sometimes.

Taskmaster is first and foremost all about getting that paper. He does not give a shit about your lofty villain ideals, he just wants to get fuckin paid.

Which is why he's the perfect foil to Deadpool. The straight-man to his loose canon. Tasky is all "God dammit wade I want to get paid" and Deadpool is all "Yeah but I just shot the client"

There’s also that Taskmaster can’t copy Deadpool. It’s been established that his randomness basically makes it impossible for Taskmaster to copy him.

The randomness makes Deadpool impossible to predict, which is one of the ways Taskmaster uses his power set.

Taskmaster doesn’t copy Deadpool’s moves because for the most part they involve taking an absurd amount of damage in the process.

Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.

Deadpool does such brilliant tactical maneuvers like taking a sword through the chest so he can punch a dude in the face.

Copying those moves is not a winning strategy.

Taskmaster also has a similar problem with Moon Knight. I believe the money quote was along the lines of, "Have you ever seen a punch that you didn't try to block with your face?!"

Moon Knight, being a crazy self-loathing masochist at the time, answers by getting punched in the face

Marvel just announced the cast of the M.O.D.O.K. show, which includes Patton Oswalt, Aimee Garcia, Melissa Fumero,Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ben Schwartz, Beck Bennett, Jon Daly and Sam Richardson.

It also runs down all the characters, which also includes, uh, his wife and kids?

When I first read this in another thread, I thought was a comic not a show for some reason. Excited for the show still, but I was kinda curious what a Ben Schwartz Marvel comic would be like.

For a hot minute I thought this was live-action and I was pretty impressed at the stones to cast Melissa Fumero as a high school student.

So is it like the new Harley Quinn show but MODOK? Or is it aimed at kids?

Considering the thing is a workplace comedy centered around MODOK having a mid-life crisis, I'd say it's definitely its own thing.

Looks like both (Kevin Smith's) Howard the Duck and the Tigra + Dazzler show are both cancelled, despite being planned as a part of the animated universe MODOK and Hit Monkey were originally a part of

I'm guessing this likely doesn't bode well for the planned Offenders crossover between the four.

Honestly, it's a minor miracle we're getting MODOK as it is.

    No one knows!

The closest anyone can figure is that it is Wanda in her head, trying to find an ideal life with Vision, based on sitcoms.

Which is insane on a whole bunch of levels, not the least of which is how did she see all those in Sokovia!?!

There's a few references in that trailer. You can see them in the Brady Bunch home and another 90's sitcom reference I didn't grasp immediately.

Gut reaction from the background would be Family Matters, which raises a number of questions.

I can’t see them leaning into it, but I wouldn’t be surprised for a “blink and you miss it” reference or background bit.

Rights is also a concern. Family Matters originally aired on ABC so the Mouse probably has some hooks that way but Full House got a revival and that Netflix deal might make right stuff tricky.

And are they going for I Love Lucy with the B&W stuff? I was thinking more like Dick Van Dyke?

As long as the last episode ends with it all being another one of Bob Newhart's dreams.

Parody is pretty safely protected so just making a reference to it seems like it wouldn’t be a problem. Actually saying the name out loud might be.

The last little blip of it though?
There were 2 cribs in front of them... They are doing the kids story. That shit gets weird as fuck.

Also its supposed to be a lead in to Dr Strange...

With rapid fire bits like this, I won’t be surprised if some of that is a dream within the dream (if that’s even what is happening), or a Halloween/costume party, or some other bit of quick fan service.

Someone in a post-communist Eastern European country whose only idea of American TV is sitcoms from the 70s, 80s, and maybe the early 90s?

The better question is how would she have any idea of American culture besides that?

Continuing my rewatch of the MCU after a long delay, I’m up to Thor 2.

It’s terribly bland but the worst thing they did with it was kill Frigga. Rene Russo is fantastic.
