I am fine with Batman having like, a breastplate and pauldrons over his spandex and carbon fiber and what have you

You don't lose a whole lot of mobility from that, and having basic chest armor doesn't seem too unreasonable

Plus it makes the difference more significant when Dick takes over and ditches it entirely

I'm listening to No Time to Die again right now and... Yeah. This has potential to be my new favorite Bond track.

Could you imagine the pressure of being 18 and asked to compose a fucking James Bond title track?

Then not only do you do it... You fucking absolutely crush it.

When I was 18 I was lucky if I made it out of bed most days.

I have a soft spot for Live and Let Die for just how ridiculous it gets and The Spy Who Loved Me is pretty good, but getting through the Moore Bond flicks is a slog.

You Only Live Twice is trash. And I say that as someone who has an admitted love for all the Bond movies, even the shittier ones like Octopussy and the (uncomfortable shudder) non-Eon production Casino Royale from 1967.

I wanna watch it but I'm pretty sure it would just make me furious.

Okay so I just watched that 1:30 preview and I already want to punch Dave Chaskin in the taint. I won't be watching the whole thing, I'm already much too angry all the time. Just that one snippet at the end was enough to make my blood boil.

I have a soft spot for Live and Let Die because it's the first Bond film I ever saw, but it's not a very good movie for a lot of reasons

once the Moore movies hit a stride though I think they're pretty good, provided you don't take them too seriously

The Spy Who Loved Me through the end of his run are all good, campy fun

though if you want camp it's hard to beat Diamonds Are Forever, that movie is nuts

Oh god the new Batman movie is gonna drive me mad

Folks are already running wild with WB IS MAKING IT GRIM AND GRITTY AGAIN THEY'RE MARKETING IT AS EDGY

    There has been no marketing

There was a single quote from Peter Skarsgard about his opinion on it and that camera test and that's it

Reeves had cited BTAS and Detective stories as inspiration and set photos showed old timey cars and GCPD blimps

Augh!! Just wait till we actually get something more than a costume in a red light filter!

Every time they got a new Bond actor, there was a quick slight uptick in quality, then they rapidly went straight back downhill again. George Lazenby was right to do one and then get the fuck out. And hey, On Her Majesty's Secret Service is still one of the most beloved Bond films even now. Timothy Dalton is another great example of not hanging around long enough for the films to go to shit, just two and done. Pierce Brosnan forgot and from a top three film like Goldeneye ended up stuck in dreck like bottom three film Die Another Day.

THERE ARE SO MANY ROGER MOORE ONES OH MY GOD.

I just finished Spy Who Loves Me last night and was thinking, "yeah, 2 more with this dude and I'm good," but boy they just kept making more Moore.

Lazenby's was fine but it's a punishing 2:20 and the love story is so under baked but when he goes action boy at the end he goes hard. At one point he slides on his tummy on the ice firing a submachine gun into baddies like a fucking murder penguin.

Besides the mysogeny and racism of the era, one of the things that's killing me the most is how god-damned long they feel, mostly because action scenes just drag and drag and drag. And also how they can never fully lock into who Bond is - is he a slickdick spy that is good as his job, charming with women and wants to get the job done or is he an asshole who sexually assults women enjoys the murder and just feels like he's doing this job to fuck his way across the globe without consequences...and that'll be the same actor in just different movies apart! Like Moore in Golden Gun is fucking shithead that he wasn't in Spy or Live and Let Die.

One of the best things? All those awesome sets they build.

I already know it's gonna suck.

The only person I've heard talk about the new Batman is Robert Eggers. He told an anecdote about Pattinson getting so worked up before scenes on The Lighthouse that he vomited ("I didn't tell him to do that"), and ended it by saying that he hopes he will bring that to Batman.

So I know I'll be disappointed when Batman doesn't actually randomly vomit in corners.
