Please let the Cowboys cripple themselves by giving Dak the contract he wants.

I want the Cowboys to fail as much as anyone, but I think Dak has proven that if he has a solid line/WR setup he can be a high tier QB, and those guys get paid. Unless they get REALLY stupid with the deal, the contract that'll kill them in the long run is Zeke's, not Dak's.

I have this notion of Dak Prescott going somewhere else and being super successful that just tickles me

Like I think I wouldn't mind Dak Prescott Patriots? I feel like that would really piss off the worst parts of every team's fanbase, including the Pats fans

    Just not to the Slurs

The Slurs should breathe nothing but the fetid ashes of regret and self destruction until the franchise is erased from history

Dak is a stats QB. There's a few of them in the NFL these days. They put up big numbers and look impressive but when it comes down to it, they don't beat good teams and they aren't winning a championship

That's kind of unfair to a QB who has only ever played under Jason Garrett.

I can still be wrong about him. He's young so we'll see.

Keenum and the Vikings were a perfect fit

They weren't winning any more games with Keenum. Keenum would have a WAR of zero and I don't blame the Vikings for trying to upgrade.

Yeah, they’d have needed a generational defense to win with Keenum.

Cousins gives them a better shot even if he’s more fun to root against than root for.

On paper Cousins was a clear upgrade. It doesn't seem to be working out but it's not like Keenum went and lit it up in Denver or Washington.

I agree that they made the move to go for it with Cousins. I'd have done the same. Just hasn't worked out in hindsight.

I hope you like watching the #1 seeds match up in the Super Bowl, because that's pretty much all you're ever going to get if that change goes into effect.

It's already been eight years since a team without a playoff bye even made it to the Super Bowl, let alone won

I guess Jerry decided this was the easiest way to get the Cowboys back into the playoffs?

Those are the best teams though and that includes the Patriots who make it every fucking year.

On the plus side, it does mean that you don't necessarily get rewarded for just winning your conference when there are teams with better records than you. No more 7-9 or 8-8 teams getting spots over 10-6 teams that deserve it more.

    Sure.

I mean, we’ll learn a lot about the value of the bye over the next few years, I guess. Maybe it’s just that good teams get byes and good teams make it to the Super Bowl. If so, we’ll probably still see a fair number of 2 seeds make it.

Or maybe the sample sizes are too small and we’ll learn nothing but think we have. Like, for instance, that Eli is actually a Hall of Fame QB.

I mean he has been Super Bowl MVP twice in two trips

It is nice to win two Super Bowls when you visit twice since you're likely never to go back there again, even if you play 8 more years.

From what he says in full article it's already agreed upon by both sides (because each side gets more money). Of course things can change or fall apart, but seems players are fine with more playoff games.
"That's been agreed to for a long time," one source familiar with the CBA talks said about the NFL's new playoff structure. "There wasn't a lot of disagreement to that issue."
