Trials of Mana remake is proving pretty neat. The VA work is... frankly subpar, yeah, but not so bad that it’s detracting from the game for me. Combat is neat, though I hope I get more moves as I level up (outside of the magic).
One thing I noticed is that there’s no strict timing requirements to do the melee combos. If you mash light-light-Heavy as fast as possible, Kevin will have the command to do the AOE combo locked in, same as if you waited for each animation.
And yeah, I went with Kevin to start. My first team was Kevin, Angela, Charlotte, after all.
Oh, and YOU CAN RUN DURING COMBAT INSTEAD OF AWKWARDLY SHUFFLING FORWARD!
I did a second run through the demo to try someone who actually gets magic (granted, only just before the demo ends, but)... and wow that hits like a truck.
Also, that party comp got me a full party before the end of the demo, while my first run I only had two. I guess Chawwotte just joins for the third slot sooner than other possibilities?

Yes, Charlotte’s story has her leave Wendell instead of going there early on, so she joins around the waterfall cave regardless.
This only really applies if she’s your third character. The second one always joins at the waterfall cave.
Important thing to note for AC island names is that you only get 10 characters and they don't automatically append Island to the end of it. If you want your name to be something Island then that's already 6 characters (7 if you put a space) taken up.
As a mature adult and contributing member of society, I got more than a few chuckles out of naming my Pocket Camp character ‘Deez Nuts’; that might work as an island name as well.
Oh, neat! Trials of Mana remake lets you play the prologue chapter of each character as they join the party. This cuts the number of necessary playthroughs to see all the story from 6 to 3.
I'm really happy with this direct overall.

And now I'm grinning as I remember the puzzle/trick for the true ending in Bravely Second, which is much better than how Bravely Default handled its endings (although I do think the good (not true) ending of Bravely Default was clever, and that one wasn't annoying to reach)
I'm pretty excited - Borderlands and Bioshock on the Switch (I never seem to have time to finish them so handheld is perfect), Burnout Paradise, Panzer Dragoon Today, and Clubhouse Games are all good news. Good Job looks interesting as well.
