Woozy by Glass Animals featuring Jean Deaux.

    https://youtu.be/KyANKltLO8k

Also, apparently John Prine has been in the ICU since last month with covid related pneumonia in both lungs which is... not great.

    https://youtu.be/aAYoWePzQ2c

Fuck man. I've only recently really discovered John Prine but he's quickly become one of my favorite singer/songwriters and to find out he's got this and, man he's on a ventilator and 73, I've not really gotten any delusions of a miracle. This sucks.

The Tree of Forgiveness is a real good album and I dunno.

    @BahamutZERO
i've been listening to mostly-vaporwave for like... four years now?
i can make recommendations in the genre if you tell me about what particular subgenres you like.

for general youtube vaporwave mixes, Jason Sanders and Kurdtbada have it on lock.
Vapor Memory has pretty much every release in the genre hosted but finding individual artists you like in the mix is overwhelming.

anyway that's enough rambling, this album is pure gold:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5tn6Kq3ctaQ

    Lost Cascades - Crystal Sun
it's not quite vaporwave, it's in the weird subgenre of "soundtracks for fictional video games."
sort of vaporwave and dungeon-synth adjacent.

Vaporwave is a sometimes food for me but I love that album, dungeon synth is a great name for that.

Today is a bad day. Tomorrow will be worse for my wife because I'll probably listen to his albums incessantly and she's stuck working at home with me. I know given his health issues we're lucky to have his later albums in the first place but fuck what a loss.

New Gorillaz rips, so they are on a decent roll with Song Machine.

Aside from sounding super New Order-y, the bassline in this actually reminds me a lot of "For All The Bears" by Wasuremono, another band from the UK and a great song.

It's amazing how many current bands I got on rotation are Australian. Aussies are ruling the music market at the moment.

"Father, can I tell your congregation how a resurrection really feels?"

we've always had a pretty good scene because our isolation means we have to generally produce our own live scene

triple j, our nationally broadcast, government-funded 'youth' radio station has been a blessing and a curse over the years. it has supported a lot of local talent. it has also, at times, been insular and callous to the bands it once supported:
https://musicfeeds.com.au/news/end-of-fashion-frontman-slams-triple-j-for-career-downfall/. it has had an almost two-decade stretch of shunning great local music because it falls outside the perceived 'youth' demographic (these days? soundcloudy trap and indie pop?)

recently, two things have counteracted this: spotify and the new double j, the digitally broadcast sister station. it has no such demographic constraint, and supports more mature and established local acts. so australian music is climbing back to its rightful place

...or at least it was, before our entire arts industry collapsed in early march. buy a t-shirt pls 💕

Damn, that sucks to hear about triple J. They are my go-to stream when I'm sick of local radio (seriously, stop treating 21 Pilots as a bold and unpredictable new talent) and I love their "Like a Version" playlists, but I guess any good, national company that large has its shady underbelly (see Canada's CBC). I'll have to check Double J!

This is super good, but just by virtue of being Matt Berry I can't tell if it's just a really good bit or not.

This also means he most likely does all his own harpsichording on What We Do in the Shadows. Neat!

i don't think it's shady necessarily, and in a context where there ARE other options, it's still a really good option. i'm being slightly facetious about what they play... it was just a long stretch there where the programmers (especially kingsmill) maybe lost sight of the bigger picture

definitely give double j a try too!

He's put out like, 4 or so albums so I think it's fairly legit. There's obviously a little cheese happening but he's a pretty big music fan himself and is fairly involved in the whole acid jazz scene.

Did he do the opening theme to Snuff Box?

I like that when adding it to a playlist I noticed it said "as featured in Judge Dredd" and it turns out... yep.
