Or varian can take taunt and your 5th pick is just yolo
Fair, yeah. Not many other allies grant Spellpower, though. Off the top of my head there's Auriel for her hat target (10%, I think?) and Probe if you're within the radius of his Pylons (not certain what %). But neither of them seem like worthwhile additions, really. Likely you could toss Varian into the solo lane here, then pick up a proper tank, and you've got a halfway decent team comp: double front-line, plenty of PvE / merc damage, strong wave-clear, good pick potential, great disruption / disables, etc. And then at 20, you can potentially just end the whole match by having everyone hearth back to base, dump cooldowns into Mephisto, and have him blat a double-damage Consume Souls on the other team. If anybody on the other team, anywhere on the map, is hovering around 75% health (particularly if they're a low-health assassin), you might be looking at a full team wipe into a GG push.
Also is the Tassadar rework taking the place of what would normally be a new hero announcement?
No. The way the releases work now it goes New Hero -> Rework -> New Hero
So we got Deathwing, Tassadar is our Rework, the next Thing will be a new hero in like 3 months prob
We got a Xul rework a few weeks ago, and I didn't hear anything about them changing it from 4 heroes a year to 2, so it kinda feels like it is?
Xul was a classified as a minor rework, not a major rework. It came alongside a balance patch, and this one had nothing else with it.
Also, they very much made it clear that this was how the new cadence was going to work. They were very clear about that, they made several posts about how it would be New Hero -> Rework -> New Hero.
I was exaggerating when I said "3 months prob", like it obviously won't be that long, but.
So I looked this up just to actually confirm. These are all the dates of the PTRs (since they're tagged with a different color on heroespatchnotes and it makes it easier to find them):
Even if you didn't outright wipe them, even if we're not talking about a "hearth back to base and globally wipe the other team" strategy, imagine doing this just as a big teamfight's about to break out. Like everyone's posturing around an objective, waiting for an opening, but rather than sending in someone to initiate, you just pop cooldowns on Mephisto in the backline and he fucking shreds everyone. THEN you initiate.
I mean I was gonna say, 3 months doesn't seem outrageous considering that there's a global pandemic

Hot take based entirely on watching Fan: Tassadar will be OP at all levels except maybe Masters+ because he has ridiculous waveclear and a super safe poke build that does decent damage.
I don't think that players under Masters understand when to transition into poke at all. They don't know how to engage with the other team without going all-in. I agree that's not a skill players under Masters-level understand (which is a pretty fucking damning indictment of the community, because it's a borderline base-level skill, but we'll gloss over that for now). Like, how to simply poke at enemies safely to bait out cooldowns, create space, or to attrition opposing resources? Yeah, they don't get that shit at all. But what players under Masters-level do understand is how to throw out fucking abilities every time the other team's in range -- and new Tass seems to have the Holy Mage Trinity of "no mana issues", "low cooldowns" and "strong ability damage". He also comes with Force Wall standard now, which can be used in a pinch to zone enemy divers, and can still pick up his "fuck you guys I'm out" classic E ability later on.

Also let's keep in mind that there's a pandemic right now so it makes a whole lot of sense that things have been massively slowed the fuck down, yes?
I'm just looking at the 5 month difference between the DW-Tass rework and the 4 month difference between Qhira and DW. This was around the time I expected a new hero, not a rework.

Hopping on now if anybody needs/wants a pocket Brightwing, Joanna, or Xul. TealDeer#1985. I will be bad at macro actions, but if you just tell me where to go I'll go.

>start the queue
>realize I have a chest to open
>stop the queue
>open chest
>see that I got a Legendary
>game pops
>try to figure out why the game popped when I had dropped the fucking queue, but whatever
>play game
>open chest
>no Legendary
Do you have the same number of shards? I don't think that the game lets you re-roll chests once you tell it to open them. IIRC something similar happend to me a while ago, and it added some legendary to my inventory except without the usual fanfare. If you rolled a duplicate, maybe it just gave you shards.
Otherwise maybe you found some bug that let's you re-roll chests.
Anyone playing the PTR, does the fact that cores and forts/keeps/towers are different as a Nexus Anomaly, does that mean the experience globe Anomaly is no longer?

The PTR notes included updates to the experience globes to make the more visable and responsive, so they're still a thing.
Playing Chromie in QM, we get Braxxis, I'm like fuck yes Q stacks for daaaaaysssss. So everything's going great, we're winning botlane hard, enemy ZJ is chunking me so I lead him near my time trap and zoop! Get away, ez pz.
Our Kael'thas. FREAKS THE FUCK OUT. At me. "fucking trash chromie" this, r-word that. ALL because boo hoo he missed his Q. Immediately reported and muted him and went about my business, but at that point I had an ulterior motive that game.
So I was playing the other night and one of the friends I was with had some connection issues, which of course means we had a bot for a little bit at the start of the match. This got me thinking about the recent patch notes and the changes coming, one of which is with favorite talents/builds that you can select. I don't know what the game currently uses to determine what talents a bot picks during a match, but it could be really nice if it could follow a preferred/pre-set build that you've chosen. That way if you did get disconnected and were able to rejoin, you aren't necessarily at the mercy of whatever the game/bot decided you should pick for talents you may have missed.
This of course wouldn't be perfect 100% of the time, but at least being able to steer the bot to specific talents over whatever it wants to pick could still be pretty nice.

The game doesn't pick talents except at level 10 and 20 for replacement bots.

that moment when you're risking the biscuit and playing late night HotS and it's getting late and you need to stop but you also just need that fucking win
so you bust out all the fucking stops and work OVERTIME and fucking bop all these dumb nerds into next fucking century
chromie fucking slaps, thanks for coming to my TED Talk
Holy shit, I was the Zag. Our DW and Li Ming were incredibly toxic from the start of the game. I muted Dw and his ping spam a couple of minutes into the game but the Rag kept engaging them. At some point we lost a team fight and they just stopped bothering. Like the camp i was taking and DW just walked past me, then like 10 second later you guys strolled in and took it.
I know it's early, but are there any impressions on how the fort/core changes are playing out so far? Is offense overall harder? Are games more protracted? Or are the new Cores not significantly more resilient?

Not gonna lie, died probably 4 or 5 times to towers or forts because of attacking an enemy by it.
