Double Masters is a 332 card reprint set, with the gimmic being that there are 2 rares and 2 foils per pack. 15 card packs, $6.99 price on MTGO (no paper MSRP obv.) Each booster box of 24 packs will come with a box topper that contains 2 borderless non-foil showcase cards from a pool of 40 "fan favorites." There will also be a Collector Booster replacement called "VIP Edition," but no details on those yet. There will also be changes to the draft experience for this set, notably that you'll get double first picks, but full details are forthcoming.
Set drops August 7th. Also explicitly stated that this set does NOT contain fetchlands, but they're still getting another reprint this year. Also this Doubling Season is in the set:

Given the doom and gloom people were spewing across Twitter about COVID-19 signaling the end of paper Magic following that announcement about the MPL partial season moving entirely to Arena, getting a surprise paper expansion feels real good.

I opened like 3 of them at magicfest OKC. They had only been banned in standard at that point. I ended up trading them in to various vendors for like $40 each and came out with so many shocklands, foil embercleaves for dirt cheap, a playset of brazen borrowers. it was magical because they got banned like 2 weeks later from everything else.
also $7 a pack at 24 packs is like $170 minimum for a box of the new master's set. They better have some bomb reprints if they arent going to have fetchlands in there.
It's happened before but it's nowhere near ubiquitous, and Mystery Boosters were the most hilariously +EV product in forever so I am hopeful they can continue that trend

They'll shove absolute trash into the Rare & Mythic slot so the stuff you actually want is as rare as it ever was.
The number of cards in the set (332) is suspiciously similar to what you'd get if you took Ultimate Masters (254 cards) and doubled the number of mythics and rares (73, so 327 total). So I'd expect individual mythics/rares to be pretty much as rare as they ever were even with the double rare slots.

sometimes it's really easy to get tilted when you run up against a deck that is a perfect counter to your own, that seems to have every answer in their opening hand

Changing nearly 10% of a cube in one shot is probably dumb but that's what Ikoria did to me. Not all 51 cards were from Ikoria, mind. But... like... a lot of them were.
My DM for a weekly D&D game has been pulling enemy tokens from a lot of different places, but it was still a bit of a surprise when this asshole landed on our train tonight

I built a commander stax deck with Grand Arbiter and I love the control aspect of it all and keeping my opponents in check all the time :rotate: I've been looking at making another deck, but a mono colored commander deck and so far I've got 3 choices. Eventually it would be cool to build them all, but for now I just want to start with one. The builds would all have to be budget builds of about $100 each.
Sram for mono white Voltron shenanigans (mostly equipment). I hear white is the worst color because of how bad card draw is for it, but I find the Voltron aspect really cool.
Macar for mono black stuff. Mostly for the bling aspect of it! I want Macar to have all the badass vehicles from Kaladesh and I guess a cool stick (that taps and untaps him).
Finally, I'm really interested in building a mono green Ayula deck. Bears!! But bear cards are kind of not that good by themselves so let's throw some other green cards in their too.
I'm leaning towards Bears, but then Sram seems fun too! Decisions!!!
I'm not sure just blasting like 3 different secret lairs is the best idea when the price of a double masters booster was listed on amazon for double double the price of a regular booster during a time when most people dont have a lot of extra money to throw around.
I mean WotC's entire business model is based on people having extra money for things that they don't need, so I don't know how much of an option they have
Personal Arena update: I've broken out of the percentages on Mythic rank, currently #1475. Gonna shoot for the top 1000, that's still the cutoff for those Arena Mythic Qualifiers, right?
