Not exactly a new band, but if you're nerding out for more prog metal like Haken, Leprous, or their fellow Australians Voyager, then you'll probably dig the new Caligula's Horse album.

i actually have somewhat mixed feelings about it. in contact had 3 actual bangers in it but so far nothing in this album has really demanded replay to me at all, which is a little disappointing - there isnt even a ridiculous saxophone solo... theyve gone off the boil lads
new voyager album on the other hand had a couple of great absolute mozzarella-fests
EDIT: for reference, in contact was both instrumentally and stylistically more experimental and straightforwardly prog, while the new one hews closer to more conventional instrument choices and shorter songs. it still has plenty of compositional curveballs but not as much fun imo. there is nothing close to graves
BREAKING NEWS:
After a four year hiatus following the highly regarded album, "Terminal Redux", the two original guitar players, David DiSanto and Erik Nelson, have decided to reform Vektor.
With new talent from Mike Ohlson on drums and Stephen Coon on bass, Vektor is back as strong as ever!
The band currently in the studio working on new material, and are preparing for multiple tours in 2021
The Insomnium livestream show this afternoon was fantastic. They had lots of cameras, much better sound, played all of Winter's Gate and then a bunch of old songs. Waaaaay better this time.
Not bad sounding. Video is beyond lame, but most videos are. I do almost feel like this could have just been a new solo album, no need for a new band, but then again why waste a band name like Mrs. Piss?! Listened to the whole album and there's a good amount of 80s/90s Sonic Youth influence there.

Traditional metal out of the ashes (I guess?) of Satan's Hallow. I'll probably be buying it on Friday since Bandcamp is supposed to be waiving their cut of the money.
I like Clayman, but it was the first album for me where it felt like they were shifting towards a direction I didn't like. I don't own any post-Clayman albums, although I've liked a song or two on later releases.

Hmm, yeah, I'm torn on that one. Clayman was where I first got into them, and they became my favorite band for a few years there (only band I've seen more than once live), so I love that album, but on the other hand, I don't feel that it needs to be remade. Though I guess if it's something they want to do, then why not. I'll listen to it, at least, but it's not something I'll be particularly excited about.
My soprano friend was on to something, Kamelot is very fun to sing for me.
I have some pipes but Blind Guardian almost destroyed my voice one drunken karaoke night in Osaka. Tommy Karevik is more in my range and screams less than Hansi. I can't sing My Confession though.

OK, so that In Flames Clayman thing isn't a full re-recording. They're re-releasing the Clayman album and re-recorded four of the songs to be used as bonus tracks.

Anyone in the NYC area knows this is the best venue in the city.
If you have a local venue you love, definitely show them love first if you haven't already.
But if you have and you're wondering what else you can do during the pandemic, you should consider giving.

It's a really good outro song! I think Whoracle is my favorite album by them, but I love The Jester Race and Colony almost as much.

Any particular thing you're having trouble with on it? It's not all that divergent from everything else on Silverthorn.
