Saw this new Puppetatica Company box for Nomads. Anyone know if it is any good? It looks pretty cool.

I’ve played against it a bunch, it’s really strong. The main dude is vulnerable but is a super cheap order with counterintelligence. The puppets are super underpriced for 2 wound burst 2 aros (particularly because losing them doesn’t impact your order pool) and can do ok work on their own as well.

    Hell yea, sounds like fun.

    Thank you!

Picked up the spiral corp starter in an attempt to get ready for this new edition I keep hearing about.

Does anyone have a 150ish list they could recommend using the content of the box for me to try out?

    Thanks

My group and I decided to give Code One a shot seeing as 40K is a giant mess right now.

TL;DR It's really damn good, and with both quick start and full Code One rules free to download and an awesome official army builder app with full stats there's no reason not to snag them and proxy to see if you like it.

Full post: Code One is a stripped down, 10-model-max variant of the full Infinity rules, currently N4. They've just pared down the number of states, models, and weapons to memorize. The more complex stuff like sectionals and fire teams are excised. Active and Reactive Player and AROs are still the foundation of gameplay.

We started with Operation: Kaldstrom, with me getting the Yu Jing, and here's a quick AAR from our last match:
Yu Jing vs Pan Oceania in a standard 3 round, 1 VP for each enemy casualty and 1 VP for each friendly survivor.
    Yu Jing forces were:
    1 Dao Fei with Spitfire
    1 Jujak
    3 Zhanshi
    Pan-Oceania's list:
1 Knight of Justice with Spitfire
    1 ORC Trooper with Multi-Rifle
    3 Fusiliers

Pan-O won the roll off and elected to force me to deploy first; I elected to take first turn. My Dao Fei was able to stay camouflaged long enough to get close and take out 2 Fusiliers before succumbing to reaction fire. My Jujak followed up and dropped the third Fusilier.
In his Round 1, the Pan-O player finished the Jujak with combined fire from the Knight and ORC.
Round 2 consisted of my Zhanshi then moving up and scoring a wound on the Knight, finishing him off with ARO fire in Pan-O's Round 2 at the cost of 1 Zhanshi. Round 3 was a bust as no wounds or casualties were inflicted on either side. The result was a Yu Jing victory!

Operation: Kaldstrom is the older starter pack for Code One, featuring Pan-Oceania vs Yu Jing, and comes with heavy cardstock terrain, which is superb, and all the tokens. The new starter, Operation: Crimson Stone, is Nomads vs Ariadna. Definitely check it out!

I too have gotten in to Infinity. I really like it. The setting, the art, the minis. All good stuff.

Code One is a great way to get in the game and everything it teaches you still applies to N4, there is just extra stuff to learn for N4 is all. Luckily not that much more if you have gotten Code One down. Much easier on boarding process I think. Of course you can just keep playing Code One forever too.

I will say that shifting from heroic scale plastics to these true scale white metals had been a learning curve. The details are much smaller and harder to see without a good LED hobby lamp (which I quickly acquired).

We have one mission left in the Kaldstrom box, but coincidentally Beyond Kaldstrom has arrived. My opponent made a similar error to the one I made last game and on his first active turn advanced his Knight to pick off Zhanshi and rob me of orders, but ended up losing the Knight to a storm of ARO fire from all 3 Zhanshi and a Jujak (all purposefully deployed to interlock their ARO fire) and only dropping one Zhanshi.

Coming from 40K, AROs most definitely take some getting used to in planning around on your active turn.

So I picked up Kaldstrom a while back as a starter set and also the N4 rules. I'm going to build Pan Oceania. Kaldstrom came with 3x Fusiliers (combi rifle), an ORC (multi rifle), nokk (boarding shotgun) and a Knight of Justice (spitfire). Kind of wondering where to go from here to build out a full 300 points? The only model I'm sure I'm getting is the Cutters (TAG) because it looks awesome, but beyond that it's a bit overwhelming with all the models available.

It kinda depends on whether you are planning on playing N4 or Code 1, as not everything is in Code 1 ATM. In general, there aren't many dud units, so you can be pretty safe in picking the stuff you like and shoving it in a list until you hit 300. The main thing is to keep a balance between your active/reactive pieces and having some camo if your own while also having things to deal with enemy camo/infiltrators. Which models call to you?

If you haven't looked into the booster packs yet, they are designed to expand your Code One roster and are really great minis. Beyond Kaldstrom has a fantastic missile launcher model for Pan-O.

Fairly sure we'll be playing N4. That's what the people I'm going to play with have been playing and they're willing to help me fumble through my first few games.

Yeah Beyond Kaldstrom would be a goer, then beyond that good generic option are stuff like remotes, specialists, things of that ilk.

    Started playing this last year.
We did a slow grow league. I chose Aleph, becaue I had some from the last time I tried playing this. For some reason it didn't stick with me before. But I'm getting much more into it now.

So much so, that I bought a bunch of Tohaa. Now I just need to focus on painting.

I've gotten a few games in now that I can actually go out again... at least for now. Started painting a new Bakunin army too, just finished off 15 models for 300 points. I'm really excited to try something with a bit more tactical diversity than morats.

A friend and I had a game of this for the first time in years. Last time we played it was before the pandemic.

We played kind of N3? He was using an un-aligned list which are N4, and we were using Infinity Army lists which are N4, but neither of us had even read N4 so we played N3 sort of off memory. Plus my minis were largely N1/N2, so it was a real mix.

It was hodgepodge and weird but putting my Hassassins down on the table again felt real good. So good that we're getting back into it. I managed to hunt down a new Hassassin starter (which I'm kicking myself for not grabbing when it was widely available) for the Farzan FO and Ayyar Mk12. My friend bought the big Blackwind bundle so I also get the Hassassins from that plus Ramen noodles.

So now I'm planning on actually getting the N4 rules (I know they're a free PDF, but I like reading the big beautiful books) so we can play a proper game. Got a fun list put together that only needs 3 more painted minis - the Fiday from the last starter, the Farzan FO from the new starter, and the Bohktar, because yes I fucking want a super jumping HI with a Red Fury.

Had another game of Infinity on the weekend. This time we pushed it back to 300pts. Still not actually N4, because neither of us have the rules yet, but the new profiles work fine with N3.

This time we used Classified Objectives but no mission, still trying to get back into it.

It's really weird playing this game again after Malifaux and 40k. You spend so much effort on objectives that rarely are orders spent with the just the intent of killing an enemy. It's all about how each order brings you closer to an objective.

I won with 3/4 Objectives complete, but the last objective killed my whole Muyib team as they died getting Layla over to a barricade to blow it up.

Hoping my work leave is approved so I can have another game soon. Because this is making me remember why I loved this game so much.

Also I played on a fully painted New Paranoia table which was an experience.

So, I've moved to western PA, and have randomly bought a house in the center of like, five gaming stores within 20 minutes of me. And at least one of them stocks and plays Infinity! It took nine years, but I'll actually be able to play this fucking game with another human soul.

Picked up a box druze, brawlers, and an anaconda. Miniature Market accidentally also sent me a brawler promo figure, so there's that.

    How's this look?

Brawler HRL haris, Anaconda Engineer duo, Druze Sniper core, and two Hunzakuts to be annoying.

Some really good tools there with the HRL Haris and a fully linked up, pure link Sniper sitting in a tower somewhere! Play it and give it a try to see what you like, my only thoughts from my own style is that
    - I wouldn't spend any extra points and SWC on more weapons past the rifle for the 5 man link since I'd want them to stay safe somewhere on my side of the board on a rooftop giving the sniper a good line of fire, keeping my lieutenant safe and giving the hacker sixth sense (you normally can't hack someone with Stealth walking past a repeater, but with Sixth Sense you can)
    - Maybe fit a Doctor or Paramedic into the link because while the sniper is a great ARO piece he'll eventually lose a fight and it can be really great to get him conscious again when the situation works out
    - I like finding points/SWC for a missile bot with a hacker to give them some teeth and make people suddenly need to worry about the Targeted state (sadly too often none of an opponent's threat pieces are hackable)
    - Personally I always like finding room for a full 15 orders of units even if some of them are just flash bots or a WarCor but that's personal taste
    - Having a cheap melee guy and a smoke guy are both useful things that usually come in the same package, e.g. an 8 point Zellenkrieger in Druze, there are so many times when you just want to go press a button or just advance into cover or a favorable range band under smoke, and many other times when 6 point Morlock puts 80 point TAG on its ass through melee combat is great too, lol

Anyway happy to hear you've got a game, hope things go great!

Seems like good advice. Once I get these guys painted up, I'll definitely try some zellenkriegers. I want to use all my druze, but god damn they're pricey when you're running Aslan. The Tachikomas do seem pretty strong, even across factions. I think I have some Nomad remotes I could use.

As for the 15 orders thing, I was surprised to see tournament lists running fewer than 15 models fairly frequently. Last time I was paying attention to this game, people were running 20+ model lists spamming mines and templates.

Painted my Anaconda.. my first fully painted figure in several years. Got to use my new airbrush, but had to paint over some of my best work with the brush. Still getting used to doing more than priming and basecoating with it.

Played my third game tonight, first two were draws, but I finally won one! Played Uplink Center at 200pts, Druze against their Ikari Company.

I ran a core of Wolfgang, two diggers and two druze hackers, and then Clipper, MSV2 Brawler, Brawler LT, Bashi spec ops and a warcor.

I deployed first with my Core link up the center of the board, which unfortunately lead to it being covered by both a brawler sniper and HRL Wu Ming. I shot out pitchers and managed to immobilize the Wu Ming on the first try, and then shot missiles at the sniper, forcing it to retreat. Blew four orders on Wolfgang to drop the WuMing who couldnt pass a Reset roll. In hindsight I should have just Berserked him. He then brought Kendrat out of hiding with a dodge roll, meaning I couldn't activate a beacon without getting both my hackers templated. Clipper popped out with a missile and she went dogged.

Opponent's turn, he popped in a cube jaeger to heal his Wu Ming, which then dropped a template on my Digger, wounding it and killing a Druze hacker. I broke link the and had the entire crew hack and/or shoot him, smearing the Wu Ming off the board. My sniper covered his warbands, so he dropped a Yuan Yuan on him, but it died to pistol fire and the sniper passed the armor save.

The rest of the game was me picking off warbands and ARO pieces with B5 multrifles while pressing buttons. He cursed losing Kendrat, and couldn't close on my hacker, while the Bashi went and held the tech coffin. He popped out a ninja on the final turn to steal an antenna, but I killed it with a light shotgun and won 7-3.

    Tons of fun.

Yeah there's not a lot of demand and a lot of the newer stuff is plain better. You might be able to shift them but I wouldn't hold your breath. Nomads having nothing out of production either, Tohaa do so maybe you would get more luck?

It really heavily varies and depends on the model, the new Su-Jian is an amazing sculpt and no one is ever going to buy the old model over the new one, but IMHO the old Noamds Uberfallkommando (I had to look the proper name up because to me there's always just "Chimera" lol) sculpt is far better than the new one, the old Nomad Lizard TAG is cooler than the new one, the old Reverend Custodier is iconic-tier cool and the new one is meh - I'm sure a lot of these will be based on subjective taste but it's not always a strict upgrade.

Plus sometimes the old and new models are all good but they're thematically cute or different like e.g. the Nomad Morlocks where there have been like 3 rounds of resculpts for some reason, each with a different cute little joke likeness, and maybe you prefer the team with Colossus and Beast rather than the one with Joker and Harley Quinn, or frankly want to "catch them all" for your collection.
