Finished Demon Slayer. Yeah, that Ufotable $$$ kicked in on that finale, lol.

I feel like they're setting the bar a BIT high for the poor guy, but heck of a cliffhanger.

*cough* Never watched Kagamure Orange Road before but I have been getting recommendations for the singer (Kanako Wada) and it's really good

Found a video with the same song but with animation:
    04 - KOR - きまぐれオレンジ☆ロード - ジェニーナ (Janina) 4:39
    https://youtu.be/iWJ7xr_FS_E

    It's considered a classic for a reason:

Kimagure is basically THE love triangle anime that like another two generations of stories are either copying or responding to.

It's hella dated for sure, but you can definitely see the DNA of like a dozen other series in it. And it does have some really well drawn memorable characters, and I'm a huge softie for that sort of 80s style and shading.

I really need to start watching Kaguya-sama and get caught up on Hamefura. I've watch maybe 1-3 of each and liked them but for whatever reason they kind of fell by the wayside.

For no good reason I've fallen behind on nearly every show I've been watching for the past few seasons. Somehow I managed to watch very very little anime over the past three months even though I've had more free time than I know/knew (back to work part time now) what to do with. I keep hoping I'm going to start watching FMA: Brotherhood, a few episodes a day, but never get around to it.

Kaguya-sama is a lot more... episodic than I expected? Kind of reminds me of Nichijou.
    And Kare Kano.

I love the running gag of the Romeo/Juliet couple.

Over the weekend I read Watamote Volume 13-14. I'm still a few volumes behind, but it's amazing how much these characters grow and develop. I also really enjoy the running gags.

The series starts really slow (I feel like in the first 3 volumes, Tomoko and her brother are the only recurring characters, with maybe one appearance of her cousin and a tiny handful appearances of Yuu) and at the beginning Tomoko has some borderline incel behavior at times. But things start ticking up as more recurring characters are introduced, with notable jumps during the class trip and then the Disneyland trip.

Tomoko also seems to largely be unaware of how much she's changed for the better. For one, she hasn't really realized that she's actually popular now (in that there are a lot of people that want to hang out with her now), nor has she realized how she's able to better communicate with people, or even the fact that she's totally into girls (I can't even remember the last time that she mentioned wanting a boyfriend).

A good quick reference to how things have changed is to just look at the early covers versus recent ones:

    ppawry399xnw.jpg

I do hope the series continues into the college years. We're already close to having covered all three years of high school.

It's also a rare series that I think really effectively uses misunderstandings (and in some cases, may never resolve the misunderstanding). It's also good at using background details to inform characters without bringing focus to it (ie. on the Disneyland trip, Uchi picks the same animal ears to wear that Tomoko is wearing, without anyone ever commenting on it).

Yeah I feel like Watamote's really good at sorta sneakily sniffing out the little complexities in social groups.

Like Tomoko is now legitimately maybe the most popular girl in her class, she can hang out with almost anyone, and she's kinda the central person that her friendship group revolves around.

On the other hand nobody's under the misapprehension that Tomoko's cool. They just like hanging out with her because she's always very herself.

Then you've got like Asuka, who is respected and pretty and socially capable, she is definitely cool.

But while she's got a lot of acquaintances that think well of her, she doesn't actually have many real friends. When Asuka and Tomoko are gonna hang out it's Asuka approaching Tomoko in the middle of her friends, not vice versa.

And the other characters have a various mix like that too. Like Yuri at first glance seems cool as hell, but it turns out basically just cuz she's not very expressive, she's a super introvert without many social skills and not much interest in gaining them.

A trap is for fish: when you've got the fish, you can forget the trap. A snare is for rabbits: when you've got the rabbit, you can forget the snare. Words are for meaning: when you've got the meaning, you can forget the words.

I actually feel bad for Yuri sometimes, because she so badly wants to just spend time together with just Tomoko (or just the school trip group), but Tomoko never realizes it and Yuri can't express it.

I've been watching season 2 of One Punch man. It's pretty good so far, but Hulu with commercials is just not as good for binging as Netflix or crunchyroll.

I like when Yuri and Nemo get to hang out, Nemo's good at reading Yuri and forcing her out of her shell a bit.

I have not read this. So this is secondhand.

    Person 1:
He got little sister pregnant so they got engaged. Then someone tried to kill the older sister by hitting her with a car and put her in a coma. Then dude broke up with little sister because he actually loves big sister.

Then it timeskipped like eight years and my dude is keeping coma big sister in his house and his daughter plays with her

    Person 2:
Person 1 is skipping some key points

-the whole coma thing happened like a handful of chapters ago
-he is marrying big sister BEFORE SHE WAKES UP somehow???
-they all lived together to take care of coma girl
-in the latest chapter coma girl woke up and now younger girl and their daughter are leaving to not get in the way of main dude and big sister, and because her daughter is starting to ask questions (probably like "excuse me, what the fuck?")

    AnimeManga was a mistake.

    e: Worth noting that
for the past like 4 years, give or take, it's been railroading towards younger sister in a way that actually felt realistic, within the constraints of the ridiculousness
