    You’d be wise to consider what items you have on you if you want that case... A good use of items will lower the difficulty of the Acrobatics skill check, plus, as you say, a Help action.

    (So, what do we have that could help? Gear's got a Dungoneer's pack, which has a lot of climbing gear in it. I belve Baber's got one too. We've got her quaterstaff, which could be used to extend how far Baber is holding onto her... Primodem fishing anyone? (I.e Baber holds onto the staff, and we rig a rope from the staff to Gear. Ironically, a situation where my shibari skills would come in handy. ...Dont google shibari at work if you dont know what it is).

    I’m down for any sort of plan like that. Say a plan in character and if someone else agrees, go for the Acrobatics roll (even if you’re fishing Mission Impossible style I’ll consider it Acrobatics).]

    "What if we tie a rope around me and the other end around you, and I keep a good grip on the rope as well, while you attempt to carefully snatch the case? Hado could then hold onto my belt too, just in case so I don't fall in as well."

    Hado blinks in confusion as the blights drop to the floor. "What... just happened with the seaweed? Why did it attack us and then just... stop? I don't like this either."

    He heads over to where the others are contemplating the chest. He says to Gear, "I have something that can help you get that!"

    He turns his sagebrush charm between thumb and forefinger, recites a few words, and then taps the focus on Gear's shoulders, casting Guidance on the Primodem. ((If a minute passes before the actual attempt, Hado will just repeat the spell just before the action starts))

    "I can try to anchor you on this side, friends! You're all much lighter than the Yukell I have to wrangle out on the farms."

    The plan is a success!

    With the tall Hado and broad Baber acting as ballast Gear is able to leap and run along the wall, snatch the case, and shut it on the backswing. She doesn’t lose a single little tool!

    Add a set of tinker’s tools to your inventory Gear! The set isn’t magical or cursed, it’s just a regular case of tools that sit nicely in little holders. The case is made from a dark varnished wood. It’s very old and covered in shells. It’s unusual that it was left here... Who could have been using it so long ago, and why did they leave it behind?

    Gear, from your moment above the pit you see it is a rushing river. Likely deadly had you fallen in. The drop is at least 60 feet! Fascinating to think such a river runs beneath the entirety of New Zellatia from some distant source. Your mind fills with ideas for its application, but that’s for the future.

    Everyone earns 10 experience for being smart! ...Do try to keep track of your experience!

    (OOC: So me and Baber are at 40 EXP each then, and that bastard Hado is at 60 becuase they terrified some poor iguanas)

    Gear looks delighted as she successfully claims the tools, and takes a moment to pour over it. "Oh, this is just... gorgeous. What a shame it got left here." She hugs it tight to her chest "Fear not little one,s i'll not abadon you!"

    You can all practically see the lightbulb go off over her head after a moment. Working quickly, she does Sciencey things with the tinkers tools, touching the ring on her necklace - turning it into a small light source. "Do either of you have trinkets i could modify? It wont be permanent, but it'll let them act as light sources for us. I figure the more we have, the better."

    (OOC: She's using Magical Tinkering to give things the following property: The object sheds bright light in a 5-foot radius and dim light for an additional 5 feet. She can do this with up to three items, as that's her int mod).

    You can now see further into the cave. It splits into three distinctive tunnels.

    To reach the north-west area you must carefully descend a steep slope (it’s nearly vertical) 30 feet. Using climbing gear will take a few minutes, but braving a slide down will only be a second. You’re chancing damage that way, but significantly less than a regular fall. This area is a clear pool lit by a tiny fracture in the ceiling, a ceiling that is significantly higher than elsewhere in the cave, approaching 25 feet. Tiny fish swim about without a care. There are a few flat topped rocks you can jump between if you don’t wish to swim through it.

    The northern area’s floor is coated in wet kelp, sticky in places, slippery in others. It’s difficult terrain (~), and so costs costs 1 extra foot to cross each space. In addition, at the start of every turn on this difficult terrain, you must pass a 12 DC Dexterity check to stay standing. There is a large clam here, smashed open, deceased. What would anyone want from a clam?

    The north-east area ramps upwards steadily—unfortunately the ceiling doesn’t get any higher. Hado would have to crouch through here, and take disadvantage to Athletics, Acrobatics and Attack rolls until they reach an area with a higher ceiling. It has the same difficult terrain, and to add to that the giant seaweed grows here at an aggressive rate.

    Feel free to explore your immediate surroundings, or otherwise decide how you’ll progress forward.

    Her joy over NEW TOOLS done, and no one seemingly keen to take up her offer to make things extra glow,y Gear immediately turns to look at the broken clam. "If one of you can keep an eye on my back, i could check that out."

    (Assuming baber or Hado can watch her in case of threats, Gear will approach the clam and use investigate).

    Gear marches up and instantly slides towards it, she does a split, straightens her legs, runs on the spot, then dives headfirst into the broken clam, which shuts on her.

    From inside the clam you see the flesh has been torn at roughly. It had pearls, and they’ve been taken. The thief was very unpleasant about it, and wasn’t using a blade to cut away at it. You’re positive a seaweed blight took them. Your deduction is correct.

    From this you extrapolate that the blights have a scheme in play, that there is a mind behind their actions and that they have need of pearls. Pearls are used for several things, but the most obvious to you is as a spell component. Ergo, a spell-caster is within the cave.

    You feel your heart tingle with static. Sometimes you’re just so smart Gear.

    Oh. So there’s more blights in the cave, too...

    Hado had turned his back to look at the dead blights, and did not see Gear head toward the middle passage. He hears the commotion of Gear slipping on the floor and turns just in time to witness the clam's shell close on her. Hado almost certainly isn't privy to what you told Gear about the tingle of magic and the other blights, so he will rush forwards to help free Gear from the shut clam. As he moves forward he'll twirl his sagebrush focus in his fingers and tap it on his legs, recognizing that the floor is quite slippery and casting Guidance on himself. He's going to try and open the clam lid.

    Baber takes a wide stance and clambers over, keeping a hand on the cave wall to steady himself. He lifts up the clam and lets Gear out.

    Hado gives a thumbs up or something. Nice.

    Now you’ll both need to roll to successfully get back across. Hado can’t help with this, unfortunately.

    Gear is looking slightly more clammified, but makes a slow effort to cross back onto steady ground. "Those seaweed monsters ripped the pearls from that clam. Pearls are most commonly used as a spell competent. Just like what i'd use for my identification device. So... there's a spellcaster in this cave, probably, controlling the blights. Which might mean that Fatta's loss of her joy was no accident."

    Hado sees that Gear is free from the clam and moves back to the first chamber. He eyes the northeast passage with trepidation. It's so small!

    "Since we have ropes and Baber is at home in the water, should we try the northwest passage? That slope is steep, but we should be able to manage. I can barely fit into the passage going the other way."

    Gear glances at the northwestern passage. "Agreed. I think the only way we'd make good time is to try and burn our way through the north east." Her mouth twists into a frown. "I'm not exactly keen on killing seaweed just for it being inconvenient to us. Especially not when these blights are being driven by an outside force. I make things better, not leave destruction behind me. Plus, i've climbing gear in my pack. Though, i dont have any healing gear on me, if we wish to be fast about it".

    Hado is growing increasingly uncomfortable in the cave. It’s cramped and claustrophobic compared to the fields and forests he’s used to. Even just getting to the place with the tall ceiling would greatly unburden him.

    “Let’s not waste time! I can quickly give each of us Guidance in turn to be less clumsy on the slide, and if anyone is badly hurt at the bottom I can help patch them up!”

    He pauses for a moment, “though I do wonder how we would get back up the slope if we needed to.”

    [OOC: I’m not exactly using the inspiration system, but in every game I run, regardless of if it’s D&D, I’ll give you a bonus for playing your character well and coming up with fun ideas. It might be advantage to a roll, or bypassing rolling altogether and just succeeding, or some other suitable enhancement to what you’re doing.

    Baber agrees with the plan and uses the rope tied to Hado to quickly get down the slope into the larger cavern. They call up that they both made it down, and that they'll standby to assist Hado's slide down if he needs it (to catch him, etc.)

    Hado slides and you... I mean you could call it catching. An Ishtari cannonball races down the slope and knocks into you! Hado whacks his knee, but it mostly fine. You’re in a pile, but are otherwise all okay.

    I’m the distance you see the dimly lit edge of something that is surely man-made. You need to be closer to take in the details.

    You’re immediate concern is if you plan to swim to the outcrop of rocks ahead of you, or jump from stone to stone. The water is only about 30 or so feet until the outcrop, what could go wrong from a little swim?

    If you plan to jump from rock to rock it’ll be an medium Athletics check.

    If you plan to swim you’re fit enough to make it in one move... so long as nothing interrupts you.

    Gear, at the bottom of the murky water you can see pieces of shredded giant seaweed. Looks as if it came from ones bigger than you’ve yet seen!

    The water is only 10 foot deep. The bottom is covered in jagged rocks. Many fish swim about.

    Stuck between two rocks 15 feet straight ahead at the bottom of the water is a glittering gemstone... Blue. Nothing else you can tell about it.

    The rocks are unstable. You’re sure they’d fall apart if anyone stayed on them longer than a quick skip across (don’t end a turn on one).

    You look up and take note that the ceiling has dozens of long legged bugs wandering around. They’re harmless.



    Hado, you’ve an eye for nature. You follow Gear’s gaze, and see that above you is a swarm of stilt whistler. They let out a shrill noise if disturbed.
