I would describe it as a combination of those Twitter accounts that only post screencaps of tweets they hate and communism-infused Something Awful style shitposting

Chapo didn't deserve to be banned, even if I found them monumentally unpleasant. But they shitposted too greedily
I'm not very excited about reddit's new policy turn, as it offers two rationales for banning--1) the hosting of hateful content; 2) the fostering of harassment--where imo 2 is a good reason for a ban and 1 isn't.
i've never listened to chapo but i've met a lot of people who assume i listen to chapo so idk if i should be offended or not

I went looking for a video on coronavirus vs the flu wrt death rates over time, and in what is retrospectively obvious, saw a shitton of "the flu is the real threat" propaganda. But all those videos were posted four months ago, and that amuses me in a very dry way.

I have listened consistently for two years or so. I mean its four white guys and half or more are named Jon. I like that they bring in guest speakers and cover a wide variety of stuff and work with Deray McKesson. Its just they are so supremely punchable in that DC nerd way. Even though they consider themselves DC outsiders they are deeply deeply entrenched in navel gazing even as they joke about the navel gazing.
It didn't really hit me until Covid how much their podcast kind of sucks these days. Not sure how to describe my dislike. I enjoy them as a source of news so I keep listening. But their coverage on the riots seemed to be wayyyy too analytic and seemed to miss the mark for me regarding what people are feeling right now.
