I’m on console for this so I don’t have any pc advice , only random thing I can suggest is monitor the temp to make sure it isn’t because saint Dennis is making the gpu work overtime and it’s getting too warm.

Temps are fine, every other game I play is fine too. I just spent a few hours playing Total Warhammer 2 with everything maxed out and had absolutely no problems.

Then I have no idea . Ah the joys of pc gaming googling the error codes forever finding 7year old posts saying they fixed it but not how . Think the longest time it took me to figure out why a game was not working turned out to be the hard drive dying . That was only discovered by me when the hard drive actually died permanently. Best of luck man.

I picked this up on the steam summer sale. I was really enjoying it right up until I got to Saint Denis. Upon arriving in town my game has been crashing after just a few minutes of playtime. The graphics get all glitchy for a few seconds than the game locks up and crashes to desktop with an error "err_gfx_state." It seems like random events are triggering it. The game was constantly crashing upon getting pick pocketed walking into of the weapons dealer. It also crashed when on being asked to clear rats out of a saloon.

So far I've deleted the SGA files in MyDocs, added -ignorepipelinecache to mystartup, verified the game files, updated my video drivers and made sure the render pipeline was set to DX12. IDK what to do at this point.

You guys got any suggestions? I've been enjoying the game so far but this has basically blocked me from progressing in the game.
It's a long shot (and prohibitive if you have a data cap), but have you tried re-downloading?

I was getting frequent crashes until I upgraded windows, but I think that's because I was still on 7 and my video drivers weren't working properly and you already said you did those so I dunno

Big update coming on Tuesday, new Outlaw Pass and “naturalist” role as well as legendary animals

I’m glad I have 67 gold saved up, but will probably need 70 (50 for pass, 20 for new role). Back to getting my daily streak back up!

    What's an Outlaw Pass do?

It’s a season pass basically where as you rank up you unlock unique items and gold, with the last pass it cost 50 gold bars but you’d eventually make it back by the end

Yeah in the past they paid for themselves. Much like the roles cost gold up front but with the additional dailies you unlock it helps you to get it back. But its very much a rich get richer situation where those of with a lot of gold have opportunities to make more, but poorer players struggle to make that committment.

Dailies usually have one really easy challenge, like shoot 10 birds or eat some biscuits, then if you keep doing them you build up a streak where eventually you can get five gold a day just doing the non-role ones

Well, it was that plus the disconnects and the being killed by random people without warning.

You can put on defensive mode so other players can’t attack or hogtie you, and they’ve fixed a lot of the disconnects since launch. Open player menu, go to online settings, then switch from offensive to defensive play style

You can still be attacked while in defensive mode. It's not like GTA's passive mode. You just have a bunch of defensive boosts if you're not the aggressor. I know that the headshot multiplier doesn't take effect and that you basically have doubled health. I'm not sure if they can auto-aim at you.

If you die you can parlay which makes you invulnerable to your attacker and their group for a set time, I think five minutes, or put a bounty on them. Defensive also prevents hogties and melee as well

I don't think that you need to be in defensive mode in order to initiate a parlay.

Well I got online earlier and did some dailies and didn't experience a single dropped connection or random murder, so I guess that's a success. The fishing contest I joined was less of a success because those fuckers just weren't biting. I think the winner got a combined catch of 20+ kg and I got like 1.8kg

Also just had my first instance of context-sensitive controls screwing me over in story mode. Tried to sit down at a blackjack table and instead Arthur decided to put a nearby woman in a chokehold. I immediately let go but some random guy felt the need to defend her honour I guess and started hitting me and I couldn't figure out a way to defuse so I had to lay him out. Waited for the law like a good boy, intending to surrender, but when he turned up and I tried to talk to him Arthur instead pulled his gun. So obviously then I had a massive shootout with all the lawmen in Rhodes while running away on foot because my horse was on fucking lunch break or something and would not catch up to me no matter how much I whistled, and then I died in a field.

I only wanted to play some blackjack!

I accidentally put someone into a chokehold once when I went to a saloon to order drinks to get drunk for a daily challenge. I figured that the reasonable response to that was to block the exits with toxic moonshine and then burn down the saloon. After dying, I remembered that I had a billion bottles of assorted liquor in my inventory that I never use, so I drank those instead.

If you own a shine shack you can drink your own shine, and then drink coffee next to the bar to immediately lose the drunk effect.

I didn't own the bar expansion at the time. Now that I think about it, it may have been the order 5 drinks from a saloon daily as well. I went to a saloon. Things went wrong. I threw fuel onto the fire since this is a R* game and that's what it's for.

New Outlaw pass is 40, new role is 25, so yeah you do! I only have about 62 gold so going to get the Outlaw pass first, presumably you can earn back the 40 gold by leveling it up

Which is the best of the original 3 roles for making gold/money? It's gonna be a while before I can afford any of them but I'm wondering which to get first. I was thinking bounty hunter, then collector, then trader.

Collector makes the most money but also is the most boring IMO, trader is my current fav since they’ve made animals spawn more so you can usually farm animals near your camp. Long distance trades open you up to PvP though so I’d recommend short distance trades only.

I tried out the new Naturalist role, I like Harriett the new character, though should be noted you need sedative bullets in order to sedate and take samples from animals, and the sedative ammo recipe is like 550, also killing animals upsets Harriett so might not be good to take Naturalist alongside Trader, though I’m not sure what consequences there are to upsetting her

It’s especially infuriating because her enemy sells good trinkets and clothes and it warns you that she will take notice of you playing both sides but doesn’t actually say what that fucking means. Also disappointed there is no story missions

Oh it does? I must have missed this, I already made a beaver hat and a trinket.

This role feels kind of under developed/explained. Like you do the initial thing and don't get any information on what to do and really need to ride over to talk to Harriet to get bullets or poacher missions.

It depends what your goals are.

Collector BY FAR is the best at generating money if you're outright grinding it by just following the scavenger hunt route that's generated by the third party jeanropke map, but it's also soul-suckingly tedious and not fun. It's also the best at generating XP since you start tripping over assorted collector items and you get a chunk of xp every time that you pick one up. I started ignoring it and just started passively collecting collections from NPC loot. I think there are two or three items in each collection that are either very rare or simply aren't on drop tables, so I'll occasionally just fire up the jeanropke map to collect those few missing pieces after acquiring a 90% collection from npc loot.

Trader is a good consistent money-maker if you enjoy hunting. It doesn't really bring much to the table if you don't enjoy hunting. Unlike GTA's businesses, trader is pretty much the opposite. It's usually best to just source supplies via missions rather than paying for them, and short distance deliveries are arguably the better bang for your buck once you consider how far back that you'll be set if you get blown up during a long distance delivery with the target that it paints on your head. Completing a long distance delivery does let you unlock moonshiner earlier, but if you're starting from scratch you'll likely be meeting the prerequisites long before you acquire enough gold to buy moonshiner.

Moonshiner is my favorite money making business since it's pretty hands off, so you're free to do whatever you want between sales.

Bounty hunter by far is the worst at making money, but it is the only profession that generates gold (note, I haven't looked into the new naturalist profession yet). You also generally end up in a lot of big gunfights as a bounty hunter, which means lots of bodies to loot and lots of dice rolls to find treasure maps. Also bounty hunter unlocks fun things like being able to use eagle eye while at a full gallop.

So, in a vacuum, I'd recommend bounty hunter first before branching off into the other professions. Collector is a good #2 IMO since you'll get a lot of trader collections from the npcs that you kill during your bounty hunter missions.

It kind of is, but you need tranq bullets to collect the samples you need to sell to her. You also need pheromones from her to find any legendaries (the season pass offers you 5 off the bat, I screwed up my first hunt for one because I didn't notice a sign of where it was and rode off without finding it).

And tranquing seems like you need to shoot the lil suckers a lot or go for a head shot to take them down. You can also "study" them like in the single player version but I think that's only available when you've got tranq shot loaded?

I also noticed they added an elephant gun which I already bought despite I'm sure it'll go on sale later for less. Oh well mine now!

Season pass seems to have naturalist exp as part of it so thats value

She'll just have to get over it, since I've heard that we get an elephant gun and she's not going to stop me from hunting everything that moves with that.
