Didn't Bernie specifically campaign on the idea that no matter who won the Dem primariry, he'd be supporting them to defeat Trump?

Yeah, he was quick to jump on top of that particular question very early on in the campaign, as the perception that his supporters cost Hillary the election is ever-present (it comes up in the interview Phoenix linked)

Yes, I'm stupid, I am already aware of that, thank you for the reminder

After he immediately endorsed Biden after the primaries were railroaded, I was so angry I didn't read anything Bernie related for months, so I missed the chance to get my money refunded too

Sorry you feel that it was a waste. Bernie isn't what I'm after, I'm after better politicians and him running made space for people like AOC, Tlaib, Omar, and Cori Bush to harness the energy he brought. AOC, Tlaib and Omar are more of the kind of politicians I want to see going forward.

Sanders might have been a disappointment in the end, politicians usually are, but those two campaigns were a critical part of revitalizing a real left wing movement in this country and you shouldnt regret your part in them.

If you are confident that Trump won’t win re-election how how much it seemed like he wouldn’t win in 2016 I don’t even know what to say to you.

I don't know why people keep forgetting that Trump was actually elected and that most of America is really really really racist.

There’s also the substantial dissonance between Biden The Human Person, and JoeBiden dot com: The Thing that Up Until Now Seems To Be Used Exclusively As A Shield Against Attacks On The Left.

Despite a complete reworking of his platform by people I respect a lot more than Joe Biden, Primary Biden doesn’t actually talk about this more liberal platform very much. When he talks about specifics, it’s things like ‘I want to increase police funding and have them use it on X Y and Z’ and when he’s in front of a more liberal crowd it’s ‘I want to build a new economy for all to realize the American Dream’ which is just politician word salad.

Its amazing to me how much we get "but its on the website"

I do not actually believe Joe knows what his own website says on some of these issues

bernie tried very hard to convince his supporters to back biden when he bowed out

dems were shocked when that largely didn't happen, because they'd spent years telling themselves that we were a cult that would march for dear leader

I suspect bernie supporters are going to vote for biden at largely the same rate they did for HRC

but perhaps more importantly, they're also going to donate and volunteer for him about the same, which is to say, hardly at all

If Joe Biden somberly promised me, face to face, that he was going to follow through on every last one of those progressive policies

I would still not believe him, and also ten seconds later he would forget what we were talking about and tell me about the time he got stuck in an abandoned amusement park with the Harlem Globetrotters

I think the things that make him unique are not usually the things that make him dangerous. He and his coterie do bring a very specific combination of incompetence and corruption to the table, and I think that's had a direct impact on eg. the pandemic handling, but if these were not extraordinary times then it's likely that the Trump presidency would only be a little worse than most other Republican options.

It would, however, be exactly as fucking stupid as it is now.

Trump has made very clear that one party in this country is fully on board with corruption and holding on to power at all costs even if those costs mean american lives

I would like to hope that things get better, but I am scared of how fragile this country's government apparently is

I dont even know how to begin the mental calculus required to balance the CRA against genocide and mass murder, but everything I learned growing up Catholic says that just as much as you arent solely the worst thing youve ever done, nor do the good things ease the sin of the bad.
