I'd forgotten that the story mode is *basically* just a visual novel with occasional gameplay, at least so far

There's also more classic homophobia on display later on.

    Raidou is still cooler.

I dunno. Raidou looks like a square and DMC is awesome so...

But it's DMC 2 era Dante. I don't think he utters a single "woo hoo".

I think if Reuben Langdon has to voice him in English he won't even know what to do.

Reaaaally thinking about hooking up my PS2 and getting in a copy of P3, it's been a very long time and I've forgotten most of it

there's not really any way to play Portable that's not on an actual PSP right, you can't get it on like Vita TV or anything?

The Vita (And PSTV) play PSP games.

You can play P3P and Golden through Vita/PSTV, yeah. It sounds like Sega was impressed by the Steam sales of Golden, so maybe 3:FES or P3P will come to Steam in the future, though.

I'm really hoping that all the Persona games will get ported over to PC. Golden wasn't a perfect port, but it's damn good and I'm enjoying it.

ehhhhhhhhhh I looked up some P3P footage and now I'm second-guessing myself again

I would like to see how it plays with the female protagonist, and the combat being more like 4's would be nice

but the purely visual novel story scenes and not being able to go around town are a pretty massive bummer to me

it will probably never happen but what I really want is a remaster of FES with the P3P additions bundled in

Yeah, a lot of people seemed down on The Answer, but it seemed disappointing to me that you could either get the Answer or the different protagonist but not both.

I'm with @cj iwakura here. The boss fights in The Answer were great and the combat in general was a step up from normal P3. It bumped it up to mainline SMT quality in fights and fun challenge.

It's also a good epilogue story wise with some very good character moments.

If you have access to a PS3, they sell the digital version of P3FES on there and it plays on any PS3.

Persona 4 Arena takes place after The Answer. Elizabeth's story directly references it even.

P4A is pretty nice for showing where the P3 cast ends up later on. It doesn't really do as much for the P4 cast.

They're also more interesting characters post-P3, since they don't have a handy wild card to rely upon anymore. It gives them more agency.
(And Elizabeth's story remains the best part.)

It's designed so you HAVE to abuse Baton Pass to succeed - I ended up crafting a bunch of psi damage items because I was getting hung up there

I wouldn't have a problem with the baton pass thing if they also didn't artificially lock out All-Out Attack.

Oh hey I never put my P5R thoughts in here

I think all of the new mechanic additions and quality of life changes made it much easier and enjoyable to actually play

But the new narrative additions almost universally weaken the story and make it a much less satisfying experience

    Specifically
The entire Third Semester Palace didn't land with me at all, Yoshizawa's actually interesting story really fell off a cliff with the SHE IS ACTUALLY HER SISTER AHA reveal and the new cutscene ending is about 500% worse than the Phantom Thieves riding off into the sunset together after ditching the cops

It is doubly frustrating because the big climax gunshot in vanilla P5 is straight up one of my favorite moments in games and their attempt to just...keep the story going after that high point feels like a real hollow rehash.

use elemental damage consumables to make big baton passes you couldnt otherwise and/or turn up the difficulty as that affects technical damage
