Just watched Toy Story 4. It didn’t have an existential dread moment like some bits from the others, and it didn’t have nearly as rough of a tear-jerker ending, but it definitely had its moments. And it was stunning in 4K Dolby Vision on D+ streaming. Definitely worth watching. I imagine they won’t make any more, but hey ... we got three Cars movies, so who knows?

Concrete is the eponymous star of the comic book by Paul Chadwick. Cement Head is a Darkwing Duck villain.

Watched Booksmart the other night and had a really really fun time with it. Good twists to the usual genre tropes, just wish they hadn't included one subplot/gag
the movie feels like it goes through a lot of effort to make the teacher hooking up with a student not as gross as it could be but it's still gross and doesn't even pay off with anything funny or subversive

like all media involving concrete, the most irritating thing about that is that people treat "concrete" and "cement" as though they are interchangeable terms

I'm not hearing any cement evidence in either direction.

incredibly bold to make a joke about that movie while including his name in the tweet, given the shittier parts of snyder's fanbase!

That reminds me of when I saw the first Saw in theaters and for whatever reason it had one scene where the camera was angled too high and you could see the top of the set walls and the boom mic operator hanging from straps. It was immediately followed by the bit with Danny Glover obviously driving in fast forward and we just lost it. Whole theater laughing at the movie right as it was trying to establish it's final build up.

Thinking about it some more and now I'm tantalized by the idea that all the other takes were so bad that they had to use the one with boom mic guy.

It is fucking wild to me that this is just kind of something that can happen because a projectionist fucks up

Wait a minute is that joke based on a real thing? Is there a boom shot in the Snyder cut trailer?

No, it's just funny to imagine that The Secret Supreme Cut is the same movie but with more incompetent takes

It ain't a deep joke. I wonder if this is the "Cow Tools" of Snyder Cut jokes

Loftus is well-versed in dealing with shitty fanbases. One of her podcasts is a feminist movie podcast. The other is about the time she joined Mensa as a joke and started getting death-threats from the alt-right Mensa subcommunity.

I never know if that kind of fuck up is on the projectionist or the distribution company. Like why are you shipping a cut that contains the rough edges like that.

I saw The Gift in the tiny little cinema that used to be in Northam. Yeah, the projectionist fucked up somehow, because the audio was somehow all kind of wavy like a stretched tape.

However, multiple scenes had the boom mike obviously visible at the top of the shot, and unless they normally give theatres a cut which is WAY wider than what's meant to be shown on screen (and the projectionist is thus meant to zoom in the framing themselves), then that's definitely on editing.

Well see, Mensa is for people who score well on IQ tests.

White supremacists think IQ tests are infallible and perfect, despite all evidence to the contrary, because they generally average out to higher scores for white people (because they're dumb and broken), and there's nothing alt-right fuckbois enjoy more than feeling like they're better than other people, so Mensa to them is like a flame to a moth.

Hence, Mensa has a serious problem vis-a-vis being fucking infested with neo-nazis.

“4 hours” isn’t really a cut, is it?

Like that’s using everything that was shot, doing reshoots, then putting the reshoots in (in addition to what they would nominally replace)

  • Options

I think they said he couldn't do reshoots, or at least they didn't give him any budget for it
It's just existing footage and finishing up SFX
