My switch is still busted so that it doesn’t work with TV hookups and also my mother threw away the base that connects it to the TV easily by accident.

I will never understand the concept of "throwing things away by accident". Don't throw it away if you don't know what it is, or if it isn't yours! It's easier to not throw something away than the opposite! I know this because I have 27 years of collected garbage in boxes in my garage I haven't gotten to sorting!

I told her that the thing wasn’t working properly and asked her to send it in to get repaired as my Christmas present.

So she threw it away and got a 3rd party base. Which didn’t even work cause turns out the issue is with the switch itself!

it's not an actual combat, it's playing the original SMB against 34 other people. Killing enemies sends more enemies to other players, like attacks in tetris

that is probably more 'fair' but i think multiplayer platformers need to be chaotic as possible, especially if the gimmick is dozens of players at once

this sounds far too orderly imo

I’m still so cross about the 5-month limit on Mario 35. Like. It’s such a boneheaded move. You could let the game go until interest wanes. Mario has staying power. But putting a really short time limit on the game existing is going to kill a significant amount of interest straight away.

The fact that Mario 35 is ending and the 3D Collection is coming off the shop on the same day, and it’s the end of Nintendo’s fiscal year, makes me think something else is happening then. Maybe they’re revamping the eShop, or the online subscription, or releasing a pro model, or something.

There's talk about a pro model, but I suspect the specific timing is also because MAR10 is Mario day and thus March is an "organic" month to end it on (as opposed to, say, April).

The whole limited-time digital game thing is kind of bullshit, though. (I can kind of understand Mario 35 if they don't want to keep the server infrastructure, but 3D All Stars is indefensible.)

so a couple weeks ago I got one of those new model Switches with the better battery life and sold my old one to a friend that was looking for one

today on a whim I decided to check back in on Animal Crossing for the first time in a few months

and...this is where I learn that you can't transfer islands and my island I spent like 150 hours on is gone!! all of my other save data from all of my other games moved over except for this one!!!

    cool!!!!

  • el_vicioel_vicio Registered User regular
Oh man, they're still doing that huh

that was the worst with Smash for the Wii already

    ouxsemmi8rm9.png

  • DaebunzDaebunz Registered User regular
Yeah acnh does not allow save transfers. I assume to stop people trying to break the one island per switch rule. I ran into that when my special edition switch came and I had already started playing

I believe you can contact them for a transfer if something happens to the original Switch, which means it's especially bullshit that they CAN do it but don't by default

  • Grey GhostGrey Ghost Registered User regular
Also they do NOW have a cloud save option for AC, I forgot this, but if you haven't played it in months you obviously wouldn't have that

I'm sorry, but you signed that contract with that forest imp to have your save file locked in the tower for all time. Nintendo Support is helpless against his arbitrary magical ways.

Wow I can’t believe what a cool idea a Hyrule Warriors sequel set in the Calamity is
