Hado pulls out a lacquered clay pot where various chunks have marinated. Fingers dripping, he slides them onto tough wooden skewers and lays those across the open oven top. Marinade drips onto the coals, turning to fragrant smoke in a flash of steam. Within what feels like just moments, they’re ready. He takes them off, then uses a hook to gingerly remove a pot holding a vegetable pulao from the oven’s interior. The pulao and the skewers join naan on wooden plates, and they’re ready to serve!

Hado avoids answering Gear’s questions about his neck tattoo.

However, when he brings out drinks there are cubes of real actual ice rattling around. Bizarre, but refreshing!

What’s y’all’s drink of choice on a nice day like this? Hado can make it.

Gear: Hado disappears into his kitchen. You hear him whistle a nameless tune as he chops something. Then: the banging of a mallet. More whistling.

Hado emerges after a few minutes carrying a tall cup made of cedar slats. A sprig of a woody green herb pokes above the rim. There’s a little umbrella perched on its end. The drink is faintly pink and effervescent, with the muddled remnants of green leaves floating between chunks of ice. It tastes of watermelon and mint.

    IDENTIFIED ITEMS

After the efforts of Gear who threw herself into the task, you now have a better understanding of all you possess. Feel free to solidify who has what, and even swap things you own.

    Garb of the Hagab.
    Magical. Cannot be upgraded.
    Medium armour.
    AC 13 + Int modifier.
    No penalty to stealth.
    Must be attuned.

“A gift from the gods of dark and nature, this garb feels light as a feather.”

When you fail a Stealth check while wearing your Garb of the Hagab, you can expend a hit die to supernaturally throw off suspicion for 1 minute. This may lead trouble to your allies instead if they are with you.

When you make or contest a grappling check against a medium or smaller creature, on a success you can wrap the sleeves of your robe around one of their limbs, inflicting disadvantage on all their rolls until you let go. During this period, if either of you are forcibly moved, you both move.

The sleeves of the Garb of the Hagab can hide four items within them like a limited bag of holding, including things as large as a glaive, which cannot be found even upon inspected. Items stored this way can be brought forth as a bonus action.

    This armour is cursed!

You are always attuned to the Garb of the Hagab.

While you can take it off and put on ordinary clothes, you will not benefit from any other armour. While wearing armour besides the Garb of the Hagab, you ignore its benefits and instead take -1 AC.

Having taken on the Garb of the Hagab, you are intrinsically linked to the Hagab gods. They are capricious and aggressive, yet distant and aloof. They seek to guide you down a path they deem proper—whatever that may be.

    Ancient Ensemble
    Magical.
    Heavy armour*. Requires 14 Strength.
    AC 15.
    No penalty to stealth.
Does not require attunement. May be attuned.

“Upon donning the ensemble hundreds of hexagonal plates made from a translucent material rush to cover your body. The plates are somewhat malleable, but harden when struck.”

While wearing this armour you can breath in any environment, and have advantage on saving throws against hazardous gases, vapours and poison.

Once attuned, as an action, you can redirect the hexagonal plates to reduce all incoming lightning damage by 2d4 for 1 minute.

*When deactivated it can be worn by anyone, and grants 12 AC.

    Ice Wand
    Magic item.
    Does not require attunement.
    1/5 charges.

“A smooth wooden wand painted blue, about 7 inches long.”

As an action, you can expend 1 charge to unleash a 25 foot cone of frost. Any creatures caught within the cone that has 30 HP or less are frozen in place for 1 round.

The Ice Wand regains 1 charge per day when buried in naturally occurring snow.*

*I’m aware this is near impossible around New Zellatia, but not all magic items are forever!

    Fragment

“A fragment of a living throne. Incomplete and flighty, this construct was once part of a seat of power for one of the Vilelord’s elite commanders.”

    AC: 13
    HP: 11

    Size: Small

Skill Checks & Saving Throws: =0

    Speed: 35 feet.

    Senses: Blind-sense 20 feet.

    Passive Perception: 0

Construct: Fragment does not become exhausted, require food or sleep, and cannot be poisoned or charmed.

Annoyance: Fragment doesn’t provoke opportunity attacks when it moves out of an enemy’s reach.

Silver Tongue: Fragment has advantage on Charisma checks and saving throws.

    Dancing Dagger
    Magic item.
    Does not require attunement.

“This dagger has the image of a dancing Floretta on the handle. The dancer holds a different position every time you look at it.”

    1d4+1 piercing damage.
    Finesse, light, thrown (range 20/60).

When this dagger is thrown it returns to you at the start of your next turn. Any creatures within a cone on its return will take 1 piercing damage as it spins by them.

A latch on the handle reveals the dagger is hollow. A single use of a liquid poured into the hollow will be injected into the target on a hit.*

In addition, if you shake the dagger it plays a short tune.

*This is a new feature Gear found. Be sure to add it to your sheet.

    Demon Nails
    Magic item.
    Does not require attunement.
    3 uses.

“Three long, black nails etched with demonic markings.”

As part of an attack action against a demon, on a successful hit the Demon Nail casts the Banishment spell on the target.

    Cruel Ember
“A simple stone cup that houses an ever-dying ember. White ash flakes off from the cup, piling up beneath it. It exudes malice.”

This object is a primordial conduit to the Shadow Sphere. When a certain profane ritual is conducted the horrors lurking within the unknowable gouges may be contacted through it.

    It is incredibly ancient.

    Alarm Scroll
Use it to cast the Alarm spell once.

    Archery Bracers
    Magic item.
    Requires attunement.

“These leather bracers depict some long forgotten race that look much like Tunglani, with pointed ears. The left bracer’s portrait looks at the right bracer’s.”

While wearing these bracers, you have proficiency with the longbow and shortbow, and you gain a +2 bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks made with such weapons.

    Philosopher’s Staff
    Magic item.
    Does not require attunement.

“A regular looking staff you’d find an old monk carrying. It has a crook at the top a lantern can be hung on.”

When laid between at least two creatures that share the same language, the staff grants all creatures out to 30 feet +1 on their next Insight check.

Once per day, by resting the staff in a body of water no greater than 30 feet wide and 30 feet deep, the staff purifies the water.

    Hado:
    - You hang up the rebel banner. It’s pretty similar in design to your shield, but it’s not like things were mass produced back then. Whoever owned the shield was probably as least associated with whoever held the banner.
    - The small wooden mallet is fine for breaking up ingredients. Nice.
    - Minor healing potion (1d4).
    - Major healing potion (5d4).
    - A salve that removes the effects of any poison. 3 uses, takes 1 minute to apply.

    Baber:
    - You throw down the rug at an angle in your hut. It’s a good fit for your place. Your pa (or whatever you’ve got like that) is pretty sure it was a ‘dire boar’. You’ve never even seen a boar.
    - A regular pristine mandolin. Nice.
    - A little statuette of Flora. Other than what everyone knows, she doesn’t mean much to you. Still, could be worth something or given away. It’s sat on a windowsill right now.
    - Next to that you’ve got some flower. You might forget about it. If it comes to it your Kaburin neighbours might find it edible.
    - Minor healing potion (1d4).

    Gear:
    - You picked the pearls from the bookend and kept it. Back home (...do you live with the family still or have your own place at the Rig?) you’ve put it on a shelf for new books.
    - The first of these books is the one about designing spells. Both you and Hado have read it intently.
    - A small glass bell without a ringer. Could be used for parts?
    - An iron ingot! Nice!
    - The miner’s pick is a useful tool, though maybe better to get stronger folk to actually use it.
    - Minor healing potion (1d4).

[OOC: I gave Hado the most healing stuff as he’s your healer, more or less.

Again, swap amongst yourselves any time.]

"Dang, Hado, this is a nice place you got! Very comfy, with exquisitely tasteful decor. The only thing that could make it better is being on the ocean."

They grin and ask Hado to surprise them with regards to food and drink. Maybe a dish and beverage that Hado loves?

They kick back and relax. They're enjoying the sunlight and the breeze so much you'd think they were a Floretta

Gear takes the drink gratefully from hado and likewise kicks back. the new Eskrima sticks are done now - they're nothing special, just well made and a good place to start of self defense. She'll deliver them to Luce later.

((OOC: The sticks are Light, Finesse, 1d6, Bludgeoning. Nothing magical, just a nice pair of weapons for two weapon fighting))

Once she's eaten (With an emphasis on the meat, tiny fangs flashing), Gear lays out all the ideas that have been boiling in her head to make:

    For Baber:

    Demonbanisher Greatbow

A massive greatbow that requires strength to draw, wield and aim. So Baber has a ranged option. Will take high quality wood, and maybe some of the iron to reinforce it. Maybe Tizu could teach Gear how to engrave a summoning ritual into it, so Baber can call it to hand whenver needed, and not be unarmed again. Gear would suggest baber takes the archery gauntlets as part of this!

    For Hado:

thorn-carved staff. Gear could do this now with no issue, but if Hado wants more than just astheticd tweaks, she'll need more.

New armor: Gear cant make armor on her own, but she could easily improve and enhance any armor they got. INlays of woods or some of this iron, or other such things ot improve it's potency.

    For Gear

Demon Automatom Core - made out of the demonbone. Gear will only say it's to help with her little turrets, and that's fine, right?
Spellfocus Counterbalanced Stock: an upgrade to her crossbow so she can just shoot spells out of her crossbow

Baber: Hado follows up Gear’s plate of food with a serving of the same for Baber: kebab, pulao, naan. After giving them their plate, Hado retreats to the kitchen again. There’s the sound of assorted clanking as Hado retrieves various bottles. The *foom* of a cork being pulled. Hado whistles his nameless tune for a bit, then there’s a loud *shak-a-shak-a-shak* of something being shaken. A click as glasses separate from one another, then quiet for a few moments.

Hado emerges from the kitchen once more, holding a small coupe glass with a pale red drink inside. It’s got a slight foam at the top, with tiny broken pieces of ice floating. It’s faintly effervescent from the shaking, and has a sort of gradient in its color: deep red in its center, fading to paler red at the glass. He gingerly places it in front of Baber. The drink tastes of plums and nutmeg, and is far stronger than its flavor might suggest.

(Int + Woodworkers tools seems like the right choice here! Though if it's a dex check, knock 2 off the result @Endless_Serpents )

Gear sets to work with joy, aiming to decorate the staff to the very best of her ability - she likes Hado, and he's been a rock for the party through literal hell. She wants to pay tribute to that as best she can.

"What are you thinking for armor hado? Making armor is not really my wheelhouse, but if you got any plain armor, i could probably tinker with it and reinforce it. Maybe even enchant it somehow?".

Gear takes a while to explain all her spells to Hado, and what might be useful to work into armor. ((OOC: Have a look at the first level artificer spell list, and that might provide inspiration for something gear could do to enhance the armor. Remember she knows Shield and Thunderwave too))

    Petalway Auction House

The finest (see: only) auction house in the city. The owner has taken special care to paint the small domed building cream and orange, and removed all the spikes that can and have replaced the gargoyles with the work of local artists. Most of the replacements are short, simplistic statues of lovers kissing and big fat maidens carrying baskets of fruit.

You shuffle in with the small crowd into the dome. Looking like the next set of items is going up for bidding in five minutes.

There is a bunch of chairs in here and a stage. Behind a podium the auctioneer is shuffling some papers. He looks up once and nods at you all, then continues reading.

    yjt2r5g8xiqb.jpeg

He doesn’t have much outward ‘spice’, the unusual features of the Tunglani, a race known for being of mixed lineage, but you do notice a lion-like tail swish behind him as he ponders his paperwork.

Everyone begins to sit down. There’s nothing that sets anyone else apart, but they all look wealthier than you.

Here’s how it works. I’ll post an item, and an initial price. All prices are in gp; this is expensive stuff! You put your bid in—and you’re all separate, you can out bid each other—and then I’ll roll anywhere from 1d12 to 3d20 for the best bid someone else puts in. You can bid for a second time, or give it up.

You got 300gp, so let’s divide that into 100gp each.

Hado is taken aback by the sudden ladder at his balcony! “Tizu! H- hello! What an unusual way of entry.”
    -
“It’s okay to knock on the door, you know.”

Hado is all about a trip to the auction house. He’s also thrilled with the job Gear did on his staff! For fun, he casts Shillelagh and marvels as the engraved vines and thorns whip to life and sprout from the wood. (He does cancel the spell quickly, before it makes any neighbors nervous)

“This is wonderful, Gear! You have a real talent.”

Hado isn’t quite sure what to expect at the auctions, but he’s game to find out what’s there.

The auctioneer sets down their papers as a large object on a small cart is wheeled onto the stage by a pair of overall clad workers. He speaks clearly and loud.

“The first item of today is a set of alchemical elixirs in a fine red stone casket. Of course, given the age of the elixirs we do not consider it wise to partake in them,” a chitter of polite laughter comes from the crowd, “But we feel it an integral part of the casket, as each one has its own compartment within the casket. The casket was found inside an abandoned spy tower, and while its origin is unknown, it is finely made indeed.”

“A surprise item today! No lads hold off with that.”, says the auctioneer.

Two workmen in the middle of wheeling on some armour spin around and head back through a curtain.

He seems impressed by Baber’s words (he made up some nonsense about a Kaburin dynasty from a country he made up).

This goes on for some time as two patrons fight over it, until you eventually gain 30gp for your ancient coins. Nice.
