There’s just a couple of raindrops per minute, and strips of white cloud are blown across the sky. The sun’s blazing light is softened occasionally as they pass. A hundred unique insects strum their legs in the undergrowth, and songbirds familiar to you sing out here, relaxing in their own secret getaway homes.
You’re headed for Khali’s Cave, one of the few named landmarks out in the wilds. Khali, it’s said, was either a dragon or a man, one of the Vilelord’s commanders who turned against him. He died providing the rebels a safe route to the fortress that would become New Zellatia. At least, that’s one story. Khali is not celebrated in the city due to the many disputes as to the truth of his life.
Hado has seen the cave from a high ridge, but as yet none of you have visited it before.
An hour into your trek you find yourselves stomping through tiring muddy puddles and balancing on huge exposed roots. The forests that dot the landscape are rich and tall. There are thousands of as yet named critters running free. Most of them run when they catch sight of you, some leftover fear of a different age perhaps, or simply their natural reaction to noisy interlopers.
“Mister Hado!”, Manini calls, “What do you know of this forest? What should we be careful of?”

Hado leads the way into the wilderness!
"I walked this far and a bit further over the past few weeks. These woods close to the city are not too treacherous, but there are a few things you should know about." He kneels at the base of a wide tree and points out a wide mushroom cap. "This fungus here is not good to eat." He turns it over. "See how it has gills underneath like a fish? There is one similar to it that is smooth underneath. Eat that one, not this one." A few trees away he finds an example of the safe fungus and shows it to the others.
"It is tempting to follow the streams through the forest, but be careful. Streams cut their own path downhill, so they can be steep and treacherous. They often have tall banks that slip underfoot, making them difficult to climb out if you get into a ravine. Look for flatter areas or for paths animals have made getting to water. Brush grows thick near the streams because of the water - a short distance farther away, the undergrowth thins out and it is easier to walk there."
"The greatest danger in a forest like this one is becoming lost. If you aren't careful, you can go in circles. Find landmarks as best you are able. Distant hills if you can see them, streams if you can't, and always try to be aware of where the sun is in the sky."
In Hado's earlier wanderings in these woods, most of the wildlife seemed content to keep him at a wary distance - although he once felt eyes at his back, assessing him with perhaps different intent.
"It's nice here. Peaceful. I like it!" Baber says, swishing around a branch they found. They're filled with a childlike wonder at exploring outside of the city, seeing trees and bushes and loam instead of buildings and market stalls and roads.
Gear gets out and hads Luce a gift she'd been making for her. "These seemed like they'd be in your style." she says, handing over what at first glance appears to be a pair of fans. When Luce snaps them open though, their truth is revelaed - each rib of the fan has been tipped in iron, giving them vicious slashing edges. "Graceful but deadly, just like you Luce!" Gear says with a grin.
(Luce has acquired a pair of Combat fans! These use the dagger statline, but lack thrown property. They do slashing damage!)
Now
Gear stares in quiet contemplation as they move out. The jungle is... haunting to her, the vaguest memories of staggering out of it as... a new born Primodem? She counts herself 19 years of age now, but in turth, what came before she emerged the jungles? She's no idea, and no one else does. a thread of worry is in her gut too - Worries that Tizu will run into some unexpected trouble, and worries for the goblins settling into this world. She'd like to meet with the king again, check how he's doing, and laugh about the story of the steel chest.
((Query: How ARE we transporting all our stuff? Do we have any kind of mount or things, or is it just the hado/baber express?))

No mounts were bought. Riding animals are in short supply regardless, and the landscape is too difficult for most to make long journeys with. You’re on foot.
Luce is wearing the Antlion duds.
The weight of what you are carrying has been spread between you. Hado can carry the equivalent of a large sized creature, and Baber and Manini are just very strong.
Unless stated otherwise Gear did not feed the steel chest to Fragment*. Fragment is still very flighty, but now willing walks by Baber’s side. As yet it’s small, and doesn’t take orders. It has proven very adept at handling the more difficult climbs; it can turn itself upside down, place its limbs at odd angles, that sort of thing. Perhaps Baber must do something or find a key component to make the construct into a true living throne.
You will be eating one ration per day, but finding food in the wilds is a non-issue. Cooking well during rests will provide little bonuses because that’s fun!
The goblins up and vanished as far as you know. You never did get to see the king... Who can say how they’ll be doing when you get back?
If you think you have too much stuff on you, just mark it on your character sheet as ‘left at home’. I’m not going to enforce weight much, but making concessions with your items will make the game more fun, not less. What haven’t you used so far, or what won’t serve a purpose here?
It’s still just really cool that this party consists of a robot, manta ray man and a giant kin.

((Gear has left the steel chest at home, because lugging a steel chest around is stupid. Iroh has her permission to use bits of it if he needs to. She's also left her Dungeoner's kit at home (other thna like, a msall nap snack that's holding the rations), and gifted her Bracelets of Good Fortune to Tizu. Fu the rock has been donated to the Rig, where it's a favorite with the children, and secretly, Tizu. Also that obsidian bladed axe she's been carrying THIS ENTIRE TIME and has never used has been left in her room.
So, to be clear, her remaining equipment is:

What was light drizzle has turned to sudden scorching heat. The shadows cast by the canopy above you does little to hold it back. Swarms of insects are now out in force, moving like a living mist at chest height.
Throughout the morning you’ve balanced across the exposed roots of truly towering trees, trudged through muddy soil and narrowly avoided spider webs and the poisonous thorns of a variety of otherwise beautiful flowers. As you continue your route becomes increasingly sloped, until you’re eventually walking carefully across the thick roots of a tree, with a 10 foot fall onto a slope of mud, exposed rock and fallen leaves.
Ahead one of the many huge trees has fallen, snapped at the roots. It now rests heavily on the roots of other trees, its canopy draped over the ridge Hado visited previously to scout out Khali’s Cave from a distance. It has had much of the bark ripped from it, and many leaves picked clean. Thick sap drips from the fallen tree and the snapped roots that remain embedded in the soft earth.
Those roots were a natural bridge further towards your goal—not any more.
You can attempt to leap the gap and land on the fallen tree with an Acrobatics or Athletics check, or head down a slope towards a babbling stream and continue from there. The slope itself will be quite slippery; you’d struggle to do more than slowly walk down it.
Gear looks at everyone else. "I can just... fly. Like literally fly over. But that dosent help anyone else. Hado might be able to shift into something that can jump the gap, but again, that helps no one else. Monkey's Mischief can grapple hook people across, but my ability to fly is limited, and..." Gear looks very possessive briefly. "it's my crossbow, you know? If it gets damaged out here, i've a real problem."
She shrugs. "We might just be reliant on Hado to guide us each over, and take our turns jumping. If i'm flying, i might be able to aid people over"

In Hado's earlier wanderings in these woods, most of the wildlife seemed content to keep him at a wary distance - although he once felt eyes at his back, assessing him with perhaps different intent.
Gear gets out and hads Luce a gift she'd been making for her. "These seemed like they'd be in your style." she says, handing over what at first glance appears to be a pair of fans. When Luce snaps them open though, their truth is revelaed - each rib of the fan has been tipped in iron, giving them vicious slashing edges. "Graceful but deadly, just like you Luce!" Gear says with a grin.
(Luce has acquired a pair of Combat fans! These use the dagger statline, but lack thrown property. They do slashing damage!)

Gear stares in quiet contemplation as they move out. The jungle is... haunting to her, the vaguest memories of staggering out of it as... a new born Primodem? She counts herself 19 years of age now, but in turth, what came before she emerged the jungles? She's no idea, and no one else does. a thread of worry is in her gut too - Worries that Tizu will run into some unexpected trouble, and worries for the goblins settling into this world. She'd like to meet with the king again, check how he's doing, and laugh about the story of the steel chest.

No mounts were bought. Riding animals are in short supply regardless, and the landscape is too difficult for most to make long journeys with. You’re on foot.
Luce is wearing the Antlion duds.
The weight of what you are carrying has been spread between you. Hado can carry the equivalent of a large sized creature, and Baber and Manini are just very strong.
Unless stated otherwise Gear did not feed the steel chest to Fragment*. Fragment is still very flighty, but now willing walks by Baber’s side. As yet it’s small, and doesn’t take orders. It has proven very adept at handling the more difficult climbs; it can turn itself upside down, place its limbs at odd angles, that sort of thing. Perhaps Baber must do something or find a key component to make the construct into a true living throne.
You will be eating one ration per day, but finding food in the wilds is a non-issue. Cooking well during rests will provide little bonuses because that’s fun!
The goblins up and vanished as far as you know. You never did get to see the king... Who can say how they’ll be doing when you get back?
If you think you have too much stuff on you, just mark it on your character sheet as ‘left at home’. I’m not going to enforce weight much, but making concessions with your items will make the game more fun, not less. What haven’t you used so far, or what won’t serve a purpose here?
It’s still just really cool that this party consists of a robot, manta ray man and a giant kin.

Midnight Blessing - the cloak. So she's traveling very light.
Thankfully, due to being an artificer i can literally make anything that would convincibly inside a tool kit, so i can do all kinds of useful bullshit.

Noon
What was light drizzle has turned to sudden scorching heat. The shadows cast by the canopy above you does little to hold it back. Swarms of insects are now out in force, moving like a living mist at chest height.
Throughout the morning you’ve balanced across the exposed roots of truly towering trees, trudged through muddy soil and narrowly avoided spider webs and the poisonous thorns of a variety of otherwise beautiful flowers. As you continue your route becomes increasingly sloped, until you’re eventually walking carefully across the thick roots of a tree, with a 10 foot fall onto a slope of mud, exposed rock and fallen leaves.
Ahead one of the many huge trees has fallen, snapped at the roots. It now rests heavily on the roots of other trees, its canopy draped over the ridge Hado visited previously to scout out Khali’s Cave from a distance. It has had much of the bark ripped from it, and many leaves picked clean. Thick sap drips from the fallen tree and the snapped roots that remain embedded in the soft earth.
Those roots were a natural bridge further towards your goal—not any more.
You can attempt to leap the gap and land on the fallen tree with an Acrobatics or Athletics check, or head down a slope towards a babbling stream and continue from there. The slope itself will be quite slippery; you’d struggle to do more than slowly walk down it.
She shrugs. "We might just be reliant on Hado to guide us each over, and take our turns jumping. If i'm flying, i might be able to aid people over"
((Gear's basically suggesting she use her ability ot flight to provide a boost, thus justifying some sorto f Help action and thus Advnatage for everyone else)
