I liked Maeve's (also cheesy) line.

I liked it, but I was a little bummed they didn't couple that cheesiness with the comic's ending for that particular scene. In the comics, The Boys go all boot party on Stormfront in much the same fashion. Then Stormfront
dies with a messily stomped-in skull

I know, I know, censors and all that. You gotta take a good 50% off the comic's sex, violence, and sexual violence to get things down to merely depraved-as-tv-goes levels. Still.

I doubt I'll watch season 3. I'm struggling to explain what I don't like about it, but it feels more like a soap than I'd like. Just scenes of people talking, maybe some secrets are revealed, and ultimately the status quo remains so they can do it all again next week. I really enjoyed the first few episodes where they're trying to kill Translucent on a time limit, but then they get the drop on A-Train and just break his leg, and he's fine again next episode. He's the guy who killed your girlfriend, he was threatening your dad, and you're going to just break his leg and bail? I can think of a dozen other things that bugged me but I can't explain why every episode is so unsatisfying.

After Translucent the show reminded me of the netflix marvel series, and the season 2 finale was iron fist.

I think this finale kind of explained that. Huey doesn't actually want revenge, he wants to make things better. Murdering A-Train wouldn't make things better. A-Train killed his girlfriend, but he was an addict, enabled by vaught. Stopping a superhero wasn't going to fix things. Huey already killed someone, and knows what that feels like. And in the end, it paid off, A-Train helps him.

So the Cult leaders head exploded, is that because hes a racist shitbag? She was done with him? Somehow she knew he had dirt and the stormfront stuff came from him? And sheill still do the tax deal for more dirt on supers? Also interesting that the Corp already has devices developed to counter Supes(the sonic stuff), do we know how the Boys got them?

This finale really did seem to tie up a lot of stuff. I am expecting the story to maybe shift more towards the comic after this. Billy not being the complete monster he was in the comics makes me wonder why he would join/lead a task force. His quest is over, so to speak. There's solving the problem of who exploded the heads, and Butcher kind of doesn't have a job, I suppose.

I don't think that choice had anything to do with censorship. They do far worse on the show. They needed her for the next bit.

It's not all bad for Stormfront anyway - she can cosplay the hell out of Monty Python's black knight now!

Because Victoria Neuman(the AOC expy) is a supe. Which means she was created by Vought, because prior to Homelanders little escapade, all supes where made by Vought.

Which means that everything the Boys was doing this season was helping Vought get rid of leaks and problems inside Vought. They literally handed over every piece of evidence of Vought wrongdoing to a Vought agent. Stan Edgar was playing both sides of the game and using Victoria Neuman(AOC expy) to do it. They told her what they knew and where they got it.

Now Victoria Neuman(AOC expy) is the foremost leader of "supe oversight", capable of covering up any real scandal, while on a trajectory that will probably take her to the White House. AKA Vic the veep from the Comics. Leading to a future where every soldier in the US Army and Every Cop in the US gets a 5 million dollar Compound V shot(that probably wears off after a while) straight in the arm. Supes and their movies are small fry compared to the 765 billion dollar a year defense budget.

The Cult leader had loads of files that could cause problems for Vought and now he is dead and those files are probably gone. He was useful in getting rid of Stormfront, but now he was a future problem.

    There's a translation floating around.
It was so beautiful. How the three of us sat there, in the shade of an apple tree.

Do you remember the day, Frederick? Chloe's arms out of the car window. We found the perfect spot by the river, in the shade of an apple tree. It was the first time Chloe ate fresh apples.

I was so happy. It was wonderful. I wanted it to never end.

I like this show and enjoy watching it, but usually I think it's a bit too campy and ridiculous with all the gore and nonsense

Having said that, what a satisfying season finale that was, lol. When Homelander goes back to the cabin and the Vought agents see him I couldn't stop laughing, repeating "oh no, oh nooooooooo" over and over. And I totally ate up the Nazi-stomping even though it was absurdly absurd.

Eh, they could have showed that in a more explicit way. As is, she's outside his house staring at him through a window.
They could have, instead, shown her on the crapper, concentrating for a sec (constipation fake out!) and then cutting to his head getting blown off and her iris-less eyes.

I was expecting more people to die, tbh.

She lost her faith because she felt like in the end the good guys don’t win and the bad guys get away with it.

So her wearing the cross again feels like a refutation of that worldview.

    Some good and some bad.
The deus ex machina file that A-Train just happened to hear about and happened to get and happened to deliver to the right people to destabilize Stormfront.

That there was never really a scene to show why Ryan went with Butcher. Unless it was because Stormfront was actively evil in front of him and he just associated her with Homelander, the last scene they share is Homelander going off to stop the source of the sound after having an actual bonding moment with his son.

That they fridged Becca. Send Becca off with Ryan. I don't see how it's keeping his promise to Becca sending him off to be alone just like Homelander.

The power scales are all over the show. Stormfront is apparently second only to Homelander and The Female could do nothing to Noir and nothing to Stormfront the first time, yet here she and Starlight are dealing massive damage. Maeve I can let pass because of her established powers. But Maeve was another issue in that she can't fly and doesn't have super speed as far as I know, and yet magically appeared off frame twice in about 5 minutes.

There's some good stuff. Starr is amazing, his seething rage coiling beneath his skin as he tells the reporters that they are there to protect and serve. I was surprised that Starlight never tried to use Stormfront's lightning for power. It was a decent episode but a lot of things just seemed thrown in because they had to wrap up plot holes.

Homelander is always great. His arc all season has been he CAN do whatever the fuck he wants, but he WANTS adoration. He wants the love he was denied as a child, it's honestly really sad and understandable how badly Vought fucked up parenting what could have been an amazing superhero, and his arc ends with him under the thumb again and impotently wanking into the wind.

Yeah, that's trite and over done. She can refute that world view by standing up to a Nazi, like she did. No faith required, just backbone.

Maeve showing up made no sense as far as I can tell. First of all, she has pretty much given up and gone full nihilist. She very clearly wants nothing to do with Starlight and her shit. I guess the justification is that she really hates Nazis? I mean I don't think she's really old enough to have that kind of inherent disgust with Nazis that it would jolt her out of her funk, but fine I can accept that grudgingly. Second, zero explanation of how she knew where they were and how she got there. She clearly wasn't with the Vought strike team that was sent to get Ryan. I don't recall hearing any helicopters or vehicles approaching, and the only Supes shown to be able to fly so far are Homelander and Stormfront. Maeve was pretty clearly shown to NOT be able to fly back when they went after the hijacked airliner. She is not shown to have super speed or super senses, she just seems strong and durable. So Maeve's appearance in that fight makes no sense.

It'll be interesting to see just how good Stormfront's healing is, as she was absolutely shown to have at least fast healing after getting lasered by Homelander. Kimiko recovered from a broken neck (and presumably severed spine) in very little time, and back in season one was cut up pretty convincingly by Black Noir and came back from that quickly as well, so it's certainly not impossible that Stormfront could recover from her physical injuries at some point.

Ryan is going to be pretty fucked up after everything that happened. The CIA better have a really good child psychologist because hoo boy is he a mess of issues at this point. As far as his powers go, so far he's just shown durability (getting pushed off the roof and being fine) and the laser eyes (potentially stronger than Homelander's lasers, considering the damage done to Stormfront, but not guaranteed that Homelander was going all out when he lasered Stormfront). No real sign of super strength or flight or anything else yet, but everything is still on the table with him. He could end up just being Cyclops though.

As for the head popping supe, I'm not sure I like the way they went with it. It ends up playing out really well for Vought, but it's also kind of out of nowhere. This bit for sure I want to see where they go with it before passing final judgment.

I liked this season, and I actually really liked the weekly release schedule. The first three episodes kind of set up the season, and had a pretty powerful ending. Each episode after that seemed like just enough happened that I could process it without feeling overwhelmed, and I loved the ability to speculate between episodes and talk about it with friends before doing it all again the next week. If they had released all the episodes at once I don't think I would have enjoyed it nearly as much, because I would have watched it all over the course of a couple days and then been done with it. I liked the chance for the story to kind of settle in.

I don’t know that we’ve seen that Maeve *doesn’t* have speed. Not A-Train speed, but like “can run a little faster than normal people and do it like forever” speed may be a thing. And she could have choppered in with the Vought team. Or drove after Hughie and Annie, since maybe she knows about the cabin. She may have been able to get to the meetup point from the cabin in the time it took for things to...happen.

Calling it a stretch is generous. It’s still pretty out there. But I think there’s just enough hand-waving possible as to how Maeve made it there to satisfy an audience that isn’t tearing apart details.

Her showing up just out of frame to start quipping and scrapping is still silly, but it’s a comic book show. I expect that.

I mean this whole thing was on the nose as fuck - but I really kind of loved the roles of: Homelander is a traditional conservative, a monster who is fine murdering all the foreigners you could want, and has a poor opinion of the people who love him. Stormfront is the Alt-Right, who came in and literally seduced the traditional conservatives.

then it turned out Stormfront was just an actual nazi, because the alt-right actually are just nazis

Man of Steel; woman of tissue.

Anyways, the Stormfront beat down was largely out of the comics except there was a serious lack of the big Russian; that and due to the gender flip they couldn't stomp on his(her) nuts. I'm sure they have her in storage somewhere, still alive and limbless, wonder if they bring her back somehow in a season or two.

I'm glad Butcher sent the kid off, maybe his touching words of wisdom will prevent another Homelander.
