I’ve played Jackbox over zoom - one person shares their screen, you play on your phone as normal. But yeah you probably don’t want to be playing on the same device you’re zooming from.

When we do it I use OBS to stream over Twitch. There's Twitch apps on most platforms so people can usually just play along on their own TV then we set phones / laptops up with a Google Meet for chatting

You just have to make sure that wherever possible you go into the settings for each of the games and turn on the "extended timers" otherwise people with spotty connections don't always get a chance to play as their stream will be lagging

Problem is on twitch is that it never catches back up. I slowly get farther and farther behind, until I'm minutes behind. The only way for me to do it is for someone to share their screen in the chat app of choice.

Internet dating anyone right now means not only trying to handle the "what if they're an axe murderer" anxiety but also including fairly justifiable fears of not really knowing how covid-safe they are and folks, I'm not too into bringing a date('s virus) home to meet my parents after the first one

True. Twitch is awful for lag and we've got one couple that plays on their Philips Smart TV that has to restart their TV every couple of rounds so they stay relatively in-sync

The people that play via PCs connected to their TV have a better time

Also, first post-breakup, post-covid date three weeks ago. Annnnd it was a winner. Several dates since then and looking forward to many, many more. (though it was a Bumble connection that also happened to be somebody I knew a little bit from high school and growing up, so some groundwork was already there. Not completely luck of the draw.)

We had some friends inside the house for the first time since this thing started (post COVID test coming up negative for the people involved). That was balm for the soul.

I've spent this week getting woken up by construction finishing up on our street, which involves them opening up with an asphalt saw at 7 am to open holes to finish connecting the new gas line to peoples' homes. Sucks, but I get it, has to be done.

The unfortunate side effect is that my misophonia is in overdrive today and I'm going to murder the next person who mows their lawn (I get that it's unseasonably warm because of climate change guys but you need to stop mowing your grass now or it's going to die when we get first frost in a couple weeks).

I think I'm finally going to try to setup a weekly video / voice chat hangout with my friends here soon

Someone tell me the easiest way to do that though? Google chats or zoom or what?

zoom for video or discord for voice only seem like the most common options

    You could use Teams!

    Ahahaha I'm such a joker.

Real answer: facetime works pretty good if it's a small number of people and everyone's got an Apple device.

We've started window shopping places to move in together once my lease ends. The big bad in this whole endeavor, is that we work on opposite sides of Lake Washington. I work off downtown Seattle, covid essential style, she works for an east-side university that could possibly remain WfH all the way though 2021 depending on vaccines & political environments.

If there's no sign of vaccine by March, I think that means we pick a place where I have the shorter commute, since I'll still be actually driving into work.

House boat? Just park it right in the middle of the lake and have a couple small boats to get to your appropriate shore.

My favorite thing about having a house is when it can spring a leak and sink

no wait that's my least favorite thing

Middle of the lake doubles as a busy airport, unfortunately

Oops that’s Lake Union. The airport on Lake Washington is way up north end

    Hello, lovers.

I took my wedding pictures today.

My fiancée is gorgeous and we had a blast today, in spite of a rocky start and very aggressive wind and a rain cloud that absolutely would not stop following us.

I can’t wait to see the photos.

I am super tired and ready to sleep now.

I am so glad we took the day off for this, I cannot imagine doing this and then having to go to work the day after tomorrow. I am fatigued.

I'm in a group text with some refugees from Honest Jedoc's Down-Home Bookateria, and they were pulling some Zoomer shit with iMessage effects and I tried to threaten them with writing stern paper letters with real stamps.

I forgot that they were also all fountain pen perverts. This entire conversation has turned around on me, and it is the worst. Oh no.
