Crypt of the Necrodancer has a fantastic intro.

The music in that game is so good, but the track used in the intro/stage 1-3 is my favorite

My one complaint about Return of the Obra Dinn is that I didn't get the achievement for blaming everything on the captain, because doing so would require me to watch every flashback again.

What is everybody's favourite game theme music?

I am pondering this as I've had the Morrowind theme spinning around in my head all day. I've hardly even played Morrowind, but I probably hum the tune to myself at least once most days.

I took the time to teach myself how to play Morrowind's themesong on an ocarina, so

Nothing screamed Mass Effect 2 as TIM's track

Heart gets pumping for multi from Natural Selection 2's Exosuit

Soul Reaver's Ozar Midrashim has already been linked by I enjoyed the main menu music remix of it from Defiance

Needing to get pumped? Hellblade: Senua Sacrifice's End Boss music

Feelin Chill? Prey's Everything is Fine agrees

Need a bit of intense Witchering with a French Twist? Meet me On the Champs-Désolés

Fittingly, a fond farewell from Spiritfarer's Last Voyage

Sorry I am bad at choosing favorites.

game music rarely grabs me, but ...

The C&C franchise has some choice tracks:

I'm oddly fond of the title / main screen track to Sin Episodes: Emergence.

Advent Rising has some good tracks
Even your corpse will buy me a world

I stand here to accuse the Seekers of destroying my world
and I'll go ahead and say it's a shame we never got sequels.

    oh, Cuphead, of course.

They don't really count, on account of being real songs, but various tracks from New Vegas

I also second AC Odyssey and Metroid Prime

Monkey Island is definitely the one that I always come back to, but for longevity I think this one is the one that always surprises me that it's still rattling around inside my head for whatever reason:

There's a few others that are locked up in there, like Turrican II ...

... and the Star Control 2 OST in it's entirety,

but F1GP for what ever reason every now and then just resurfaces and sticks around for a day or two every few months, and I can barely even remember the game.

Seconding Slacker1913 on Bastion (and really all of the Supergiant games. Transistor is wonderful.)

Also, not sure if it counts using licensed songs instead of original scoring, but I dig all of the Borderlands games themes.

Chrono cross is one of those rpgs of its era that's just... Too big for these days.

Like seriously doesn't it have like 20 some characters to potentially get? That's crazy.

At least it's not dragon warrior 7 which advertised its length (over 80 hours I think it said) on the back of the case.

This theme is pretty excellent. It's composer, Michael Giacchino, has composed the scores of other noteworthy works of art like the popular retro anime TV Lost.

Most of them with their own “accent” through the text dialogue. I was reading about the dialogue engine they did and it’s cool how they figured to write it so that they didn’t have to re-write every line 44 times, they just write the dialogue in-engine the first time, and it applies the character specific rules.

And HLTB estimates it between 37-65 hours, so it’s only half an AC Odyssey: https://howlongtobeat.com/game?id=1704

But I know what you’re talking about. It used to be that the longer a game was, the better. Now, I’m happy to see a game I can beat in a few sessions.

I've been digging American Truck simulators menu music. It's peppy and fun and makes me get pumped to get driving. I was playing today and finally crossed the tipping point in garages and other drivers and now I'm bringing in the cash. 4 full garages and 19 other drivers brings me in about 500k a week now. With garages across the map I can fast travel between them to make the clock go forward and I can just make money if I want. I love it.

Here I am carrying my first over-sized load between the Port of Seattle and a Boeing facility in Everett. You get special pilot cars and there are lane changing procedures and stuff. It was super cool, and this was a real easy one.

opening, not in-game, but this still gives me shivers, and the quality of the music is just so great, and you don't often hear video game music like this:

I guess this isn't just one tune, but the production here is just, I dunno, it's so open and airy at all the right times. It feels like the music is part of the action rather than just an accompaniment, and this is still the music that I think of when I think of the game:

This one I actually remember hacking the original program to play just the intro music on a loop:

and finally, all of the Xenogears soundtrack is fanastic, but I have particular affection for this one because of, along with I think everyone else that played the game, spending probably 15 years wondering what the sample was and then someone on a gamefaqs forum worked it out (turns out it's actually not 'total censorship go to the gas chamber' which always struck me as a bit weird, to be honest)

I noticed one of the banner ads on Epic atm is for a Dr. Disrespect skin in Rogue Company? I thought he got shuttled into the sun? Why is he back, How is he back?

    Cancel culture is a myth.

I do have to say that it's worth remembering that we don't even know why he disappeared off twitch to begin with. A lot of people ASSUMED that it was for something scandalous but it may simply be something boring, like he was in violation with a contract with twitch or something.

Contract dispute gets him banned from twitch. Broadcasting a 12 year old boy pee in a public bathroom gets him what, 7 days suspension?

The absolutely most memorable theme for me - the one that swells up unbidden in my mind when I close my eyes, the one that transports me bodily to a time and a place in my life, the one that my bones will hum if you strike them just so - is the Deus Ex theme. I don't think anything else come close, but a huge part of that, for sure, is the general importance of Deus Ex to me.

Fallout's "Maybe" by The Ink Spots is another absolute standout. It might not be something that I casually sing to myself as I go about my day, but it's another one of those themes that is good but also is inextricably linked with how big Fallout 1 was for me as a young person. Although, now that I think about it, that's not really the main theme, it's the music that plays during the intro. So, disqualify that, I guess.

I've been playing a lot of the Master Chief Collection so yeah, fuckin' Halo.

And not just the iconic theme song, each game's soundtrack is full of bangers, from CE to Reach. I'll be playing some mission for the third or fourth time with random skulls on and a really kickass track will come on and I'll get pumped as fuck to wreck shit.

I think at this point Anno 2070 has to win by default:

The whole album is a delight so good that 2205's best tracks are basically remixes of 2070's highlights.

For weird and more esoteric I'm gonna highlight Flashpoint Campaigns: Red Storm

It's not the best or anything but it's surprising that Slitherine bothered with getting menu music for it let alone that it'd actually be pretty damn solid and tone setting for smashing tank platoons against eachother.

I always liked the Uncharted Main Theme.

There are minor differences between installments, but in the end I prefer the one from 2.

I particularly like how, in-game, that first half of the track plays on the main menu, and when you hit new game and enter the hangar it transitions to the second half with the guitar.
