there's enhancing and there's also refining, so be careful on that. you wanna refine by feeding same weapon to same, then enhance by feeding whatever to level it. you fill stars by ascending through levels, but you they do have a max inherent limit
Nah. The star levels indicate that weapons rarity tier. You can't change that.
So a 3* weapon will always be a 3*, 4* a 4*, and 5* a 5*.
If you have multiple of the same weapon, so in this case your slingshot bows, you can refine a weapon. This is a different menu option than the normal "feed weapon to level another up". This lets you take 2 of those slingshot bows and put it in the 3rd.
What this does is that it buffs whatever effect that weapon has. So looking up the slingshot bow, the effect that states that the DMG will increase by x%, each time you refine it whatever number is the x% will go up. You can refine a weapon 4 times I think. So the effect starts at level 1 and when maxed it's level 5.

And just to keep going
"Enhance" levels up the weapon by feeding in other weapons or smithing gems for experience. After levelling it to a certain point, the first being 20, you will need to "Ascend" the weapon to keep levelling it some more. You'll need to be a certain Adventure Rank to ascend, and each thing will need specific resources to do it. There's also a star visual for ascension level that's separate from rarity stars.

Refinement is also why a handful of 3* weapons are honestly better than 4* weapons for a long time
Things like Debate Club, Fillet Blade, Halberd, Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers will be useful for a long time until you start crafting or pulling 4* weapons multiple times to refine them
5* weapons are just gods joke (their effects are usually good enough at refinement level 1 to justify their use)
Decided to do one more 10 pull on Venti before it ended, got a duplicate Fischl (her first constellation is HUGE it seems like) and unlocked Qiqi lets gooooooo
Did not really need another healer in addition to Noelle and Barbara but ill take it, first 5 star
I really want Fischl's next ascension, when she finally gets her other passive where Oz zaps things if they have an electro reaction go off. Because then all these abilities that constantly apply something should be silly as Oz keeps reloading the electro charge as fast as I can consume it. If I'm reading this right.
New character banner is Klee, who looks to be a pyro catalyst character.
Banner starts on the 20th and runs till November 9th.
In addition to adding Klee to the game the 4* rate up characters are Xingqiu, Noelle, and Sucrose.
There's also going to be a new featured weapon banner but nobody cares about that, there's a new character to spend your wishes on.

I love that there is a weapon called Debate Club
Humor can be dissected as a frog can, but dies in the process.
Catalyst characters don't feel very fun to play as. Can't control where their attacks are actually going, they just auto-pick if Lisa is any indication.
Arknights is not where I'd look to for good gacha when the 6* characters were 50/50 chance at best when featured compared to a random off-banner. Not the worst, but boy did I see some pain from people rolling.

Yeah, I'm sure there's some targetting rule to it, but it's probably picking roughly straight ahead, closest target. They have AoE on button holds though.
Barbara is better ... mostly because you only really use her to proc hydro status and heals, you can just throw one charged attack to splash things, hit E, and move on.
The trial quest for Klee at 32 was interesting. She ends up covering the area in hovering mines with her E and... well, that works about how you imagine it does.
Ya non greatsword weapons either don't do anything to mining spots, or they take forever to break them.
Greatswords on the other hand will do the job with like 1 or 2 swings.
edit: one of the reasons I want to get Diluc. Not only does he do broken damage, but my current party doesn't have a GS user in it so I have to either swap parties for mining or spend forever hitting the rock with a normal sword till it breaks.
You can break most mining spots with two ground pounds from a sword user. That's what I've been doing with Keqing.
I wish you could just like pay five bucks and buy a character.
I’d easily pump 20-30 dollars into this game if I could do that. As opposed to spending nothing because the gotcha system is awful value for your money.
The game is lucky I managed to get a few characters I liked from free wishes cause I would have just dropped it otherwise.
God, I hate gatcha. It might be the worst type of game design ever conceived. It really puts a hamper on what is otherwise a fun experience.

It'd be nice but they're aiming for the folks spending hundreds or thousands of dollars. Ain't gunna be me
A single wish costs about $2 to $2.50. We'll go with $2.
A 5* has a 0.6% chance, an average of 1 in 167. That would mean that on average, and random 5* would cost over $300 (which could be either a character or a weapon if you're on the general roulette page)
Fortunately they're generous and you're guaranteed at pity 5* at a maximum of 90 wishes. Which would be $180. If you're on the character specific roulette I think it's 50% if you'll get the promoted hero on a 5* pull, but if you don't get them then it becomes 100% if you keep rolling and get a second 5*. So getting the promoted hero has an expected cost of $180 to $360. The expected cost of getting a specific hero who's not promoted is bahahaha get fucked. (Simplifying a bit by assuming you're getting the hero on the pity pull, because lets face it, you probably are).
Then you throw in wanting duplicates for those sweet sweet constellation unlocks...
And that's why they don't want to sell characters for $5
I would have liked to have gotten more than 1 Fischl constellation before the banner change seeing as she's my main DPS. Oh well. Haven't gotten my pity pull yet so chances are Klee will be my first 5*. And then I'll probably be out of easy to earn free wishes.
I haven't put any money in yet, and probably won't unless there ends up being a way to do so that doesn't feel gross. I may go for the premium daily login if I'm still really into things after the free rewards totally dry up, it's a relatively cheap buy in and I'd just look at it as payment for the full experience. A more interesting/rewarding battlepass in the future is probably the best I could realistically hope for.
I haven't gotten great pulls, but I've gotten good enough pulls. Something like 2 Fischls, 2 Xianglings, 2 Noelles, 2 Barbaras, and a couple other 4*s.
Let's see... just with free resources I've pulled...
2 Diluc
4 Fischl
2 Barbara
1 Xiangling
2 Lisa
Bennett (yesterday, off the non-focus banner because my pity is close on the other but I've hit enough Fischl thank you very much... though her final constellation seems crazy good)
Noelle (The guaranteed Noelle, so...)
Should I mention my first Diluc was on my first 10-pull of the beginner banner? Diluc/Fischl carry so hard with the nonstop overload procs... and then I run into fire mages and cry because they're just miserable to deal with for that pairing. I actually have more invested into Fischl though.
i put 5 10 pulls into that damn third wish list and got all weapons every time. I tried to buy the monthly pass thing and my bank refuses to process a transaction from their company because there's so much fraud from it.

when you level up a weapon, do they gain star levels? I have 3 Slingshot bows, could I combine them to make 1 5 Star Slingshot?
edit: ok so refining the Slingshot twice would boost its passive and I'd need to use those purple gems to improve the stats?
at level 20 do you have to redo the passive?
So a 3* weapon will always be a 3*, 4* a 4*, and 5* a 5*.
