NEW: I’m told that President Trump can’t get his messaging straight on counting the votes because he doesn’t understand what “stop the count” means. On a call this morning, an adviser had to explain to him that if they stopped counting votes right now, he would lose the election.

I’m told that on the phone call this morning, Trump said he assumed people knew that by “stop the count” he didn’t mean he wanted to stop the count. The adviser had to explain to him that actually people figured he meant he wanted to stop the count when he said “stop the count.”

He has enough property and real estate that he wouldn't end up penniless. I read some article saying that he wouldn't be penniless since he can liquidate his assets, but he'd certainly lose a ton of his businesses around the world.

If he has to liquidate businesses to pay DB he's not going to be getting the inflated prices he claims for them. For one thing, most of them are money pits during good times. For two, they're almost all hospitality and leisure and we're in a global pandemic. He may very well wind up having to declare bankruptcy again in 2022.

Many of those will likely be uniformed military and family votes, which federally had until Friday to arrive.

I will, indeed, laugh hysterically if the families of deployed military, and the military themselves, vote this fucker out.

Those submarine sailors in Guam. The ones who had their Captain fired and disparaged? They're gonna vote you out, Donald. The soldiers in Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan who saw you leave behind the Kurds? They're gonna vote you out.

Those of us living abroad, to have for four long long long years had to answer the question of "what the ever loving fuck?" And "Why?!?!?!" We are going to vote your ass out.

And it's going to be the difference. And we're never going to be taken for granted again

    Ok we are, but still.

With Biden being president, I would imagine all of his business interests in China are about to run into a "The party has more to gain by pleasing the incoming American president" problem because autocracy is a bitch

He's also stolen a ton of money from the government, and probably made a huge profit as well on foreign officials using his properties to butter him up. I can't see a normal person possibly still being in any sort of debt after everything he's done. Of course, Trump isn't a normal person.

Georgia is inching to the point where Biden overtakes Trump, and it should happen within the hour (although it's possible the SoS has stopped updating numbers).

Pennsylvania is continuing to get closer as well, and is looking to not be even close in the end.

I strongly disagree, Trump is a cult of personality, he is going to wrap himself in a persecution complex and I'd lay money that he's still going to draw massive crowds

The entire Fascist mindset before taking power is that they were in power in the past because they deserve to be and some degenerates stole what is theirs. What we are witnessing is a possible origin story for a fascist party in the next few years.

Not sure how we stop it though since the accusations of cheating are based on literally nothing.

I hate to say it, because it won’t be popular, but the best way to fend off fascism globally has been for the left and non-fascist center-right to work together. I don’t know how feasible that is in the US.

See, I knew that would be the response. But if you really want to make sure the fascist uprising is stamped out, you would have to eat some real, true shitburgers like allying with someone like Romney or even Rubio.

If that’s unpalatable to the American left, and I’m pretty sure it is, then you just have to make sure you don’t lose. We didn’t lose this time, soon we can start working on next time.

Um can someone explain Zeno's paradox?

Before a an arrow can fly a meter, it has to fly half a meter.

Before an arrow can fly half a meter, it has to fly 1/4 meter.

Before an arrow can fly 1/4 meter, it has to fly 1/8 meter.

    Repeat repeat repeat repeat.

Therefore, a fired arrow will never reach its destination because there's always a shorter distance it needs to travel first. It's a demonstration of reductio ad absurdum, or proving by contradiction. We can never reach our destination because we must always get slightly closer to it first.

I have to say this whole thing has felt pretty surreal. Over the past year, Covid-19 and the Trump administration have sort of blended together in my head as things that are horrible but will (hopefully) eventually be over. Thinking about the serious possibility of Trump continuing to be president for another four years just kind of left me feeling empty inside.
