Georgia's electoral votes went to Biden. We can win the Senate races there. It's just a question of how, and are we willing to do what it takes.

I agree hard work is required to carry the GA senate runoffs, but I wouldn't be optimistic about things if I was McConnell either. The state just got flipped, which means going into those races, democrats have a reasonable shot of flipping the seat. Trump also isn't on the ticket, so ACA getting nuked, along with a government shutdown and no covid relief could result in him seeing his chances of a continued majority crumple. Again, as skeptical as I am of people flipping, there is the whole thing of demoralizing or turning off one's base. Those three things may not make awful voters vote democratic, but they certainly could make those voters decide not to bother.

SCOTUS can wait until Jan 6th to issue the ruling. It's not like they take a public vote immediately following the hearing.

The 2008 runoff went R by 10 points so that's kind of the baseline expectation.. both Ossoff and Warnock are longshots. (And it seems odd to be saying this now but I will literally not trust any number of polls saying otherwise until the races are called).

The 2008 runoff also suffered from massive complacency - Obama was president, Democrats had big majorities in both houses of Congress, and McCain still won Georgia by five points, so why bother? I don't see that happening this time. The races are critical and we just saw that Georgia can go blue.

The hearing may tip their hand though if the hacks are obvious about it.

Doesn't matter. Particularly doesn't matter in a political context... 'swing voters' won't believe the ACA would be overturned until it actually happens. (Some of them will continue to not believe it afterwards).

The races are winnable... but a stretch.

I don't think the actual ACA ruling is expected until summer 2021.

The only real question in the GA runoff is: Can we turn out enough of our people

Because 2020's hack writers just keep typing away, the leader of Trump's effort to fuck with the election

    has corona.

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/11/09/covid-19-trump-campaign-official-david-bossie-has-coronavirus.html
David Bossie, who only days ago was tapped to handle President Donald Trump’s effort to challenge the results of the presidential election, has tested positive for the coronavirus,NBC News reported Monday.

As a result, Bossie is no longer part of the decision-making process of the election challenge effort, “because he can’t be at the campaign headquarters and he can’t be in the Oval Office,” a source told NBC News.

The truly amazing thing about McConnells fuckery, the part that needs to be zeroed in on.

Is that he says the down ballot GOP victories are valid, while the presidential GOP loss is not.

I mean, nobody here or anywhere is surprised by the pubs being hypocritical chunks of shit.

You just know Trump watched all coverage of him, negative and positive. Catching up on the last snl after biden got the vote, they are slamming Trump left and right and really firing on the jokes. I bet Trump is having a meltdown at these skits, and you know he hate watched him.

I won't miss Trump , but I will miss baldwin's impersonation. I feel like it was one of the things that kept me sane these last 4 years. Seeing how they made fun of him, I knew I wasn't crazy.

I wonder if Jim carrey will keep showing up as a biden. He's actually been a pretty good biden. Snl is always usually on top with their political stuff I feel.

Yeah, add that as the flip side to the “Democrats executed a diabolical strategy to cheat across half a dozen states and forgot to hand themselves the Senate” argument. It’s nonsense.

Also there’s now only one voice I can hear that last line in, and I love it.

I'd be surprised if they didn't tip their hand this week on ACA because by all rights, if they weren't going to gut the law, the case wouldn't even be getting a day in court before SCOTUS.

Here's the thing, if I were a betting man. McConnell was probably banking on only having one runoff in GA and the state not flipping. if he figured the state was gong to flip and there would be two run offs, he would have convinced Trump to pas covid relief and probably gotten the government to stay open till like Jan 6. He did not because he probably didn't figure he'd have to worry about seats and again, NC and AK might surprise us (don' count on it, but also don't assume they are completely gone).

I'm also going to point out here. Don't look at that race hinging on swing voters. It might actually just come down to democrats showing up because they give a shit about the ramifications of the outcome. This isn't 2008 where the state really wasn't competitive, the senate wasn't at stake and that it became clear to many that the GOP will continue to fuck over the nation every chance they can get. They are races that can still be won and need to be won if our nation is to get a good shot at digging itself out of the current hole we're in. I mean, DC statehood would happen and that gives us the card to kill the EC because republicans will piss and moan about how DC gets three additional ECs on top of the two for their Senate seats and whatever their House number ends p being. Also wouldn't be surprised if a vote in Wyoming still ended up having more clout than one in a theoretical state of DC.

Also statistically, complaining about how unfair elections are depresses the turnout of the people who think they're unfair.

Honestly at this point if you actually want to watch a Trump conference I recommend the Team Trump Twitter account. There’s just very little assurance that other networks aren’t going to pull away from it once it goes into the nonsense.

I watched that one with comments on. It was a good time.

There's a house in my neighborhood very prominently located, and they've been flying various Trump flags on a tall flag pole over the past 4 years. I drove by today and the flag is gone. It's definitely possible it's just temporarily down because they've ordered a new one or something, but it's also possible they're moving on from Trump.

I know it's a single anecdotal data point, but it gives me hope that many of Trump's biggest fans have already moved on.

Honestly D+5 to R+10 and anything in between seems plausible to me in that race. No fucking clue which voting groups will turn out over a holiday season without Trump actually on the ballot when control of the Senate is up for grabs.

Not even 72 hours since Trump lost and Fox News is already throwing him under the bus to try and pretend they broadcast news instead of propaganda trash. Because if they turn on him now that he's going out of power, surely everyone will forget that they happily supported all his verbal offal over the last several years, right?

I wonder how soon it will be until they find another premiere old white rich shit-kicker to spout vitriol and hatred for them again.
