God what an era the late 2000s and early 2010s were for drum and bass and dubstep. Legendary times. I remember going out and bangers like this were on and it was fucking electrifying. Heading to a cheap, sticky nightclub rammed with students and the youth and getting absolutely hammered and dancing for hours and losing my mind. So good. Just... so good.

    I love the original

the trouble is that when I hear some of the synths it immediately gets me jacked up for a massive DnB drop and it doesn't happen haha

But yeah it is a cool tune

    Lyrics translation:
    https://myasianartist.com/lyrics/yorushika/eat-the-wind
I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the weather tomorrow
Pressing the time card I opened my eyes in the morning
We are still buying today because there is only something missing
Fancy while wearing shoes I wonder if the sky is high

    Even you
    I'm sure I don't know this
    The shy face is scattered
Open your mouth and eat the wind

    Spring comes first
View the scatter of cherry blossoms
    Eat the wind now

The heart of the shelf is 15 yen, only one left unsold
I put a discount sticker and waited for the closing time
I'm sure the weather will be tomorrow, and customers will line up here as well.
Who will buy the two discounts?

    Only you, only you
I've been thinking for a long time
Just wait for that white cloud
Make noise in the windless spring

    Grass flow
Lightly look at the scattered flowers
    Eat the wind now

Finally my heart is half price, unsold forever
Fancy watching TV News is a bargain of hope
You're still buying today, there's only something missing
I bought it when I was down. Is the sky expensive?

    Only you, only you
    I don't understand this hope
    The unsold heart is fine
    Beautiful for me

    Spring blooms and flowers
View the scatter of cherry blossoms

    Only you, only you
    I don't know your wounds
Open your mouth and start singing
    Now you eat the wind

    Winter cage Spring comes first
I can only hear your song
    Only you who play now

    Only you

    I’m bleeding as breathing,
    hurting as beating my heart
There’s no way to remedy it

    I’m cursing as blessing,
    aching as singing my heart
There’s no place to hide down here

    I’m bleeding as breathing,
    hurting as beating my heart
There’s no way to remedy it

    aching as singing my heart
There’s no place to hide, don’t seek me out

    Let it die
    Let it high
    Let it die
    Let it fly

    Let it die
    Let it high
    Let it die
    Let it fly away
    Let it burn away

King Gnu - 三文小説Sanmon shōsetsu(Three pence novel) 4:42
    https://youtu.be/Y8HeOA95UzQ
    作詞Lyrics / 作曲Music:常田大希Daiki Tsuneta 編曲Composition:King Gnu

    Lyrics translation (From comments)
This is for foreign fans. The translation is not “directly translated”. I tried keeping small nuances as much as possible to really give the feel of the song.

    Translation:

Even when everyone in the world has forgotten about you, today I’ll be beside you and say “you’ve got really old” as I smile again.

So don’t be scared, you are fine as who you are. Counting increasing wrinkles besides you.

Even if our life is worth a cheap novel, I won’t throw it away, instead I’ll just keep overwriting it. Everyone’s dependent on love, destined to be lost forever. I’ll just keep adding to the end of our story.

To face the truth, we sometimes need to be alone. Knowing it’s wrong, there’s a story that we must keep writing.

Ah, scenario full of shit, cheap acting. I want to keep being part of it.

Ah, just because your awkward expression and words save me.

Even when the sparkling memories rust, tomorrow I’ll be beside you and say “you’ve got really old” as I smile again.

So don’t feel down, I love you as who you are. Counting ticks besides you as the clock moves.

This endless tears will flow in and put breakpoints in our life like the chapters in a novel.

Knowing we’re the fools. There’s a story we have to keep writing and struggle.

Ah, that day you stood alone helplessly. I can now give you a firm push on your back.

Ah, just because my silly expression and words made you smile.

Ah, scenario full of shit, cheap acting. I want to keep being part of it.

Ah, just because your awkward expressions and words save me.

Ah, that day you stood alone helplessly. I can now give you a firm push on your back.

Ah, just because my silly expression and words made you smile.

Even when everyone in the world has forgotten about you, today I’ll be beside you and say “you’ve got really old” as I smile again.

So don’t be scared, you are fine as who you are. Counting increasing wrinkles besides you.

    ~End~

Side note: this music was created for a drama show called “35 years old girl”. The show is about a girl who has gotten into an accident at age of 10 which puts her to a very long sleep. She wakes up after 25 years in the body of a 35 years old woman, keeping memory of a 10 years old girl. The story is focused on the growth of this “35 years old girl” as she struggles with the gap between her mental and physical age and drastic change made in the world during her sleep.

Can I just say, how spot on is the song for a show like this? Like they did this with banana fish and PrayerX but they did it again. I’m just so appreciative of their pure talent and being able to live in the King Gnu era.

The Caretaker - Everywhere At The End Of Time - Stages 1-6 (Complete) 6:30:31
    https://youtu.be/wJWksPWDKOc
Everywhere at the end of time' was a series exploring dementia,
    its advancement and its totality.

Audio remembered, disfigured and forgotten by The Caretaker.
Artwork on all stages by Ivan Seal.
Mastering on all stages by Lupo @ Calyx.
Vinyl and CD distributed by Boomkat.

    Stages:
    STAGE 1 : 00:00:00
Here we experience the first signs of memory loss. This stage is most like a beautiful daydream.
The glory of old age and recollection. The last of the great days.

    00:00:00 - A1 - It's just a burning memory
    00:03:32 - A2 - We don't have many days
    00:07:02 - A3 - Late afternoon drifting
    00:10:38 - A4 - Childishly fresh eyes
    00:13:36 - A5 - Slightly bewildered
00:15:38 - A6 - Things that are beautiful and transient
    00:20:12 - B1 - All that follows is true
    00:23:44 - B2 - An autumnal equinox
    00:26:31 - B3 - Quiet internal rebellions
00:30:02 - B4 - The loves of my entire life
    00:34:06 - B5 - Into each others eyes
00:38:42 - B6 - My heart will stop in joy

    STAGE 2 : 00:41:22
The second stage is the self realisation and awareness that something is wrong with a refusal to accept that. More effort is made to remember so memories can be more long form with a little more deterioration in quality. The overall personal mood is generally lower than the first stage and at a point before confusion starts setting in.

    00:41:22 - C1 - A losing battle is raging
    00:46:01 - C2 - Misplaced in time
00:50:44 - C3 - What does it matter how my heart breaks
00:53:22 - C4 - Glimpses of hope in trying times
    00:58:06 - C5 - Surrendering to despair
    01:03:09 - D1 - I still feel as though I am me
    01:07:17 - D2 - Quiet dusk coming early
    01:10:54 - D3 - Last moments of pure recall
    01:14:47 - D4 - Denial unravelling
    01:19:02 - D5 - The way ahead feels lonely

    STAGE 3 : 01:23:17
Here we are presented with some of the last coherent memories before confusion fully rolls in and the grey mists form and fade away. Finest moments have been remembered, the musical flow in places is more confused and tangled. As we progress some singular memories become more disturbed, isolated, broken and distant. These are the last embers of awareness before we enter the post awareness stages.

    01:23:17 - E1 - Back there Benjamin
    01:27:33 - E2 - And heart breaks
    01:31:38 - E3 - Hidden sea buried deep
    01:32:59 - E4 - Libet's all joyful camaraderie
    01:36:12 - E5 - To the minimal great hidden
    01:37:53 - E6 - Sublime beyond loss
    01:40:03 - E7 - Bewildered in other eyes
    01:41:55 - E8 - Long term dusk glimpses
    01:45:29 - F1 - Gradations of arms length
    01:47:00 - F2 - Drifting time misplaced
    01:51:16 - F3 - Internal bewildered World
    01:54:45 - F4 - Burning despair does ache
    01:57:22 - F5 - Aching cavern without lucidity
01:58:41 - F6 - An empty bliss beyond this World
    02:02:19 - F7 - Libet delay
    02:06:15 - F8 - Mournful cameraderie

    STAGE 4 : 02:08:53
Post-Awareness Stage 4 is where serenity and the ability to recall singular memories gives way to confusions and horror. It's the beginning of an eventual process where all memories begin to become more fluid through entanglements, repetition and rupture.

    02:08:53 - G1 - Stage 4 Post Awareness Confusions
    02:31:02 - H1 - Stage 4 Post Awareness Confusions
    02:52:55 - I1 - Stage 4 Temporary Bliss State
    03:13:58 - J1 - Stage 4 Post Awareness Confusions

    STAGE 5 : 03:36:12
Post-Awareness Stage 5 confusions and horror. More extreme entanglements, repetition and rupture can give way to calmer moments. The unfamiliar may sound and feel familiar.
Time is often spent only in the moment leading to isolation.

    03:36:12 - K1 - Stage 5 Advanced plaque entanglements
    03:58:49 - L1 - Stage 5 Advanced plaque entanglements
    04:21:37 - M1 - Stage 5 Synapse retrogenesis
    04:42:25 - N1 - Stage 5 Sudden time regression into isolation

    STAGE 6 : 05:04:32
Post-Awareness Stage 6 is without description.

    05:04:32 - O1 - Stage 6 A confusion so thick you forget forgetting
    05:26:25 - P1 - Stage 6 A brutal bliss beyond this empty defeat
    05:48:02 - Q1 - Stage 6 Long decline is over
    06:09:12 - R1 - Stage 6 Place in the World fades away

Portugal. The Man puts out a single tying into Native American youth, and has the notable trait of featuring Weird Al doing an actual serious, non-parody song.
“They say barbwire was the death knell of the cowboy. It was the end of the open range and the end of open pastures. Before the cowboys, for time immemorial, the indigenous peoples of the Americas looked to the earth as their spiritual authority. They did not parcel the earth any more than Christians, Muslims, or the Jewish faith would parcel out God. That would be sacrilege. But along came the colonists and they did just that. After the genocide of the indigenous peoples, once our white picket fences and barbwire and border walls were erected, the descendents of the colonists made a lot of technological progress. We invented cars, skyscrapers, cheeseburgers, and smartphones! And yet now, at the dawn of the 21st century, mother earth is reacting to the past few hundred years of neglect. The earth is sending out pandemics, fires, hurricanes, and so on. The indigenous say that it’s the earth’s immune system calibrating itself. The indigenous people of the Americas, and the rest of the world, have stewarded their sacred planet for tens of thousands of years of recorded history--likely more. The PTM Foundation turns a conscious heart to the ancestral youth of the indigenous elders to shepherd our sacred planet and peoples through this time of difficulty.

The PTM Foundation is a platform for artistic collaboration between materialist culture, the arts, and indigenous paradigms. For the video for “Who’s Gonna Stop Me” we created a collaboration between indigenous artists, friends, artistic collaborators, ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic, and Indigenous organizations to explore the possibilities of collaboration in this new time. To us ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic has always been a figure of playful boundary-breaking. His work makes us take less seriously, the things that we take so seriously, like what’s cool, or what’s trendy. ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic has been an inspiration for Portugal The Man since their inception until now. In the tradition of the indigenous cultures of the western North American territories, the Coyote represents the trickster and the maker of new worlds. The trickster is an archetype that can be found in nearly all indigenous and ancient cultures; the trickster not only is playful and a comedian but through their playfulness, they connect people. PTM Foundation sees music and art as a similar tool to make new connections and we consider this video to be the beginning of a campaign of many collaborations to come. PTM Foundation strives to forge bridges between the materialist contemporary culture in which we are immersed and the indigenous stewards to whom we strive to give a larger voice.”

Its pretty good! I guess its Outlaw Country but like, Chris Stapleton is great so I dunno.

Be warned though, he has a song on there about his dog Maggie and I had to change songs real quick because it immediately began to break me.

Grammy-winning classical piano composer Chilly Gonzales has put out an album of Christmas songs today, which includes covers of both traditional Christmas songs and modern classics from Wham! and Mariah Carrey, and also this absolutely gorgeous cover of the track "Snow is Falling in Manhattan" off of the Purple Mountains album by the late David Berman. Jarvis Cocker and Feist feature on this cover as well.

Phoebe Bridgers and Maggie Rogers covered the heinous Goo Goo Dolls song Iris and somehow, improbably, impossibly, made it bang. Only on bandcamp which doesn't embed, but proceeds go to Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight org.
