this is not sarcasm. Is dubbing usually better than that?

The dubbing looks rough, but I am pretty hyped for this.

Persona 5's adaptation took some liberties, I see.

Jovovich seems like an actress who knows her strengths and plays to those. She doesn't have the range of, say Sigourney Weaver or Emily Blunt, but tough physical roles that want someone with eye-catching presence in the middle of things, sure.

Netflix has got the worst English Live action Dubs that I have ever seen. Like Jean-Ralphio from parks and rec your the worst level bad. I feel embarrassed on behalf of English speakers that some of you actually prefer that tripe.

I remember being so thoroughly annoyed with the "what is the matrix?" marketing that I completely ignored the movie for at least a year after it hit theatres. I ended up renting it while staying in a hotel, and it blew me the fuck away. Kicking myself for not seeing it in theatres, but I honestly thought the ads were obnoxious.

The story behind that Taylor Swift song is pretty great too, she is basically re-recording all of her early hits so that people can enjoy them without putting money into the pocket of her first manager/label who have refused to let her buy back the rights for and apparently have been bullying her for years
This is the first time she has allowed one of her songs to be used in a commercial and presumably as a public "fuck you" to her prior label/manager who will not be able to profit off this either

I'm thinking more John Wick and Falling Down. Even though it's from the same guy who did John Wick the blatant "came back now a debt needs to be repaid" ripoff is kind of annoying. Nothing wrong with you taking the spirit of one movie to another but when you crib hardcore on certain elements I gotta call bullshit. Would still watch it, you just need to have some hack writer come up with a different reason the bad guy is after you (he wasn't invited to the wedding or something).

  • DoodmannDoodmann Registered User regular
The trailer didn't reveal much but there were a couple moments (and Odenkirk) that hint at it being more of a comedy than Falling Down which is why I was thinking True Lies.

I mean there's a few quips and one liners but nothing i'd call comedic, and definitely no True Lies esque in the wife's reaction.

Looks ok except for the premise that his family turns on him because he doesn't go all macho and kill that guy invading their home.

That part makes sense in america though. Honestly if I had to say what that movie reminds me the most of, is a history of violence. So if I see Ed Harris showing up I'd be worried Joey.

I already hate it because it looks like premium jerkoff material for the Second Amendment types just dying for somebody to invade their home so they can justify killing somebody. Case in point: a whole cadre of faceless criminals attacking his home with full-auto weapons, which is some top-shelf 2A crap for why machine guns should be legal.

Nevermind that the only time shit like that happens is when the cops do it, and they try their fucking hardest to make sure there's no evidence or eyewitnesses to incriminate them later on top of making sure the victim is as defenseless as possible before they shoot them.

In fact, it seems like a huge oversight to not make the cops the obvious bad guys, but I guess that would be too heavy a dose of realism for something like this.

Was it is family or was it his neighbors?

Either way it didn’t seem... supportive of the people who wanted him to go 2a fantasy

    wbBv3fj.png
  • PreacherPreacher Registered User regular
Eh I didn't get the sense its a 2a fantasy. Like these aren't random street criminals invading. If anything this movie feels closer to what the original story John Wick was supposed to be, in that the hero is older and less what he once was.
