It'd be funny if this pushed Trumpers into wanting to defund the police.

On a small scale, in certain areas, it has.

I recall when they were assaulting the legislature building in Salem and realizing the police weren't on their side, a lot of them started shouting in support of defunding. The cowardly leaders still continue to pull them back on task until they scampered off to hide while things were actually going down, but the sentiment comes up when the police are actually positioned against them.

#1 Lindsey Graham used a picture of Bernie Sanders shopped' to look like Flavor Flav.
1.A Bernie is evil because he looks blaaaaaaaaack
1.B Flavor Flav's signature fame moment out of many, Public Enemy's Fight the Power

#2 Proud Boys had no real ideals beyond a nebulous "cuck the libs" quest. Which worked well enough while they were doing petty decentralized shit with no real opposition. But now that they need to act with intelligence, purpose, and unity, all that cowboy mentality bullshit is a liability. Contrasted with the #BLM protests which were focused on righting the wrong of unarmed US citizens as well as immigrants being shot by law enforcement. As well as the armed ones surrendering their legal weapons and still getting shot.

#3 The fact needs to be underscored that the #BLM protests were started by women and the Proud Boys are at its core a misogynistic cult entered around a mythical alpha male identify. So centered around it in fact that there was backlash from the Proud Boy base against a MMA fighter trying to start a Proud Girls organization. A fighter who appears to have weathered "assaults" from "unruly Anti-Trump protesters" in marching with the Proud Boys.

A Twitter phenomenon wherein you passive-aggressively criticize someone without tagging them. Often not even mentioning them by name at all.

There are a number of ways to do this, but a popular one is to take a screengrab of one of their posts (not a retweet or a quote retweet, which they would potentially see in their mentions) and comment on it.

Normally when people do this to famous people/politicians it's got way more to do with not wanting their mentions blown up by pissy fans in my experience. Or ya know, death threats depending. See also why I replace O with 0s in certain dickbags names, I dont need the term searching brigade in my life.

Subtweeting is more for referring to this kind of thing between people of similar backgrounds imo.

Ok, so you have the presidency, the House, and the Senate.

    No more fucking excuses.

they're not gonna make any excuses, they're just gonna tell us all to fuck off

Surely we learned our lesson from the obama years where Dems did nothing in the name of pre emptive compromise they didn't have to do. Unless their real representation is to corporations.
Oh what's this? Biden has said again and again, "remember obama? I'll do that!" While having a personal history that's even worse? :Rotate:

Hope the protests keep up. Cops killed someone in Newton (outside boston) this week, we'll see what that kicks up too. Something needs to happen to pull mom bloc back into at least portland/seattle, if only because it's great optics and helps normalize the dissent in ostensibly "blue" places.

I think I have to just not read twitter today. Dc is going to be dumb and it's not at all do anything practical about it at home level where I live so I can get some mental health and read it this evening. (He said, knowing he won't be able to resist checking)

In the tiny good news column, not at all lefty group nbc news managed to use some appropriate language to talk about it:
    https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/shooting-involving-officer-under-investigation-in-newton-highlands-police-say/2272451/

"Police shot and killed a man above a candy store he'd entered with a knife Tuesday"

For the record initial reports do make it sound like at least a tough situation. Man that is known as a normal member of the area enters store with a knife, cops called, flees, then "less lethal shotgun" followed by taser attempt failed. So I wouldn't call that a good de escalation attempt but...I'm holding out that slim hope this wasn't cold blood cop murder I guess? We'll see, I won't hold my breath.
