    Deadline is an industry mag.
CBS has given a straight-to-series order to #CSIVegas, a sequel to the mothership #CSI series, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Bring back CSI Cyber you cowards

Fuck that, fire everyone but the bug guy, the sweet forensic entomology was the only reason I watched that show.

It's going to be interesting seeing them write their way out of this puzzle box they created, since they defeated the concept of murder once and for all in the CSI finale.

    CSI Salem

it's about being a CSI in a haunted city and trying in vain to find a logical explanation for like, the exsanguination victim that disappeared from the morgue a few hours ago.

    *Salem, Oregon, obviously

Was very silly joke, just spitballing what an appropriate level of success would look like to conclude a CSI series where they've caught like 2000 different murderers at this point.

I don't like the CSIs at all but it amuses me to think about them introducing precogs in the finale.

Murdoch Mysteries is the closest to a period version of CSI/NCIS and there is forensics, albeit very early. Also they have ridiculous run-ins with famous people of the era and do stupid things like invent technology way earlier than it was. Like they run onto Theodore Roosevelt, Tesla, William Shatner plays Mark Twain, there is a rocket that a Canadian spy gets locked in and it launches him into space but it's okay, many episodes later he is found alive in Borneo. Dumb shit like that. It is more Hallmarky in feel though. Light-hearted despite dealing with murders every week.

There is also Ripper Street, which is set in London just after the Ripper Murders and is also what I would call police procedural adjacent as one of the characters is a doctor who does the autopsies. This one is farrrrr more serious.

Most other period murder mysteries follow the Sherlock Holmes or Agatha Christie line and aren't close at all to the format of a modern CSI/NCIS.

You owe it to yourself to watch Infinity Train. It's so good. Between that and Doom Patrol HBO Max is really hitting it out of the park.

I don't care what anybody says, I will always have a crush on Fran Drescher. I've been nursing it since I was like, 10 and saw The Nanny for the first time.
