When Steve asks Erskine why him, he says that the serum amplifies everything about the person, good and bad.
The serum amplifies everything that is inside. So, good becomes great. Bad becomes worse. This is why you were chosen. Because a strong man, who has known power all his life, will lose respect for that power. But a weak man knows the value of strength, and knows compassion.
Give it to someone with a chip on his shoulder and that chip becomes a boulder. Which could be what we're seeing with Walker.

Does Falcon ever get super serum in the comics? I wonder if that's where this is going.

I am currently pretty sure that he's going to get the serum at the end, specifically because the scientist tossed in that line about "it's so much subtler, no need for jacked bodies" which is very like

"hello Anthony Mackie's agent yes sir no he's not going to have to eat sixteen pounds of chicken breasts a day for six months no no don't worry we took care of it"

Maybe but that was also to explain why Karli Morgenthau still looks like a very young girl and not a bodybuilder.

oh it's absolutely possible but also the flagsmashers not being jacked is not story-critical; it's something that there are a lot of solutions or ways to write around it. "oh they stole some holo-tech". or they could have just...cast big people and not worried about it, or whatever.

but chris evans' horrible torturous bodybuilding routine is a big part of the reason why he backed away from the role and a lot of actors are becoming increasingly open about this part of the process and how grueling it can be, and even if Falcon just stays the Falcon through the entire show I would be very surprised if it's something that someone at Disney isn't thinking hard thoughts about

particularly in the TV space where filming schedules are such that spending half or three quarters of a year bulking for a role is just fundamentally impractical esp if the actor wants to do literally anything else in that same timeframe

Yeah I've noticed that from an earlier trailer too, I'm wondering if that's where he immediately went when he stole the tesseract.

Yeah, I think Walker is going to get it and go from "total asshole" to "psychotic total asshole". He's probably going to get frustrated with not measuring up to the real thing, particularly as the investigation drags on his end.

OOH, that makes me wonder (these are comic spoilers, so people may want to avoid them)
if we don't see Walker take the serum, become a straight-up monster, and then Battlestar also takes it to help stop him. Battlestar has the super-soldier treatment in the comics, and the only thing better than Sam taking the Cap mantle in the end would be Sam and Battlestar bringing down the MAGA-version "Captain America".

Plus, while Erskine made it pretty blatant to the general that he's looking for qualities beyond "big strong moron that is also a jerk but takes orders", I doubt he revealed the heart of his reservations as the general was clearly dismissive of taking anything but the biggest, most moronic, jerkiest loyal soldier they could get. At a minimum, Erskine was trying to keep a tight rein on the project so he could make sure they didn't end up with another Red Skull.

So Loki (the show) is going to be the wrench that fixes the whole time travel debate and ideally puts Loki (the prick) back into the prime universe.

    I can live with that.

I had the exact same thing. Especially in that elevator scene, a combo of the lighting/make-up/costume and me watching it on a phone made me think it was an aged-up de Sousa from Agent Carter/AoS, which got me super excited.

Still looking forward to Owen Wilson, but now I’m disappointed about them not making what I’d made up in my head.

So is it just me, or do those trailers show Loki having a definite problem with situations with involve him falling?

Would be a nice callback to Strange casually dismissing him to the Infinite Falling Dream Dimension.

I guess that's confirmation that MCU Asgardians don't get the benefit of resurrection and we won't get a kid Loki. In retrospect, kind of a punk way to end mainline Loki. At the time I think it was glossed over because it was assumed it would be undone or was a trick.

I assume by the end of the Loki series there's an alive, main-timeline Loki again. Either because this Loki goes there or Loki's apparent death was always a trick, or something. I'm pretty sure Loki has apparently died in every movie in which he's appeared.

Only in Thor 1&2 and Infinity War

He's just fine at the end of Avengers and Thor 3

oh man i had not even considered this. It would be incredible if the turn of the show is that a second, main line loki shows up and he plays both.

Well we know that if you don't do time travel right, you can literally turn into a child version of yourself. So the reason and excuse actually exists in this universe if they wanted to do it. But yeah, I can't imagine they would. But who ever knows.

There's that or the Loki in TDW was actually killed and this one replaced him. Or we end up with Loki recruiting Loki over and over again for lots of time travel shenanigans. Because what god of chaos and good times wouldn't jump at the chance to play himself at an earlier point in time in with privileged information on outcomes and expectations?

Loki predictions, spoiling because this is 100% deffo going to happen:
I definitely think Variant Loki is returning as the new Loki in the main timeline MCU. That can be his reward for whatever job he's doing here: "hey good job saving the multiverse, it turns out the origin timeline has a Loki-shaped hole in it, go ahead and take his place."

It's unclear to me whether the main MCU timeline is somehow better/more "real" than the variants that were created in Endgame, or if it's just one more timeline out of trillions. But either way there's no reason a variant person can't travel there as we saw with Thanos.

I have mixed feelings about Sam becoming Cap only because he was able to get pumped up with the serum in the end. Just because the identity of the new Cap is such a personal and complex issue in this series, and that feels like a very comic booky resolution to me. But maybe the Rule of Cool wins out here - it's one thing to use the shield in combat, but to truly become Captain America you need the serum.

I think to truly become Captain America, you need to use the serum and not turn into a raging asshole.

I'm really having a tough time following Falcon/Winter Soldier. With WandaVision, I really only needed to know that He dead and She sad, but this is like a B-story encyclopedia. I don't think I'm necessarily criticizing the show - it might not just be built for my level of MCU membership?

I think you'd probably be totally lost if you didn't remember Sam and Bucky's situations in episode 1, but otherwise you really don't need to understand every reference to follow the story. The super serum has been recreated, it's in the hands of a new bad guy faction, Sam and Bucky team up to chase them down. Meanwhile Sam struggles with the issue of becoming Cap and Bucky tries to face his demons. That's about all there is to it.
