WandaVision was about three side characters from the Thor, Captain Marvel and Ant-Man franchises investigation a major plot involving threads from Age of Ultron, Civil War, Infinity War and Endgame.

They are really stuffing these shows to the brim.

I'm really having a tough time following Falcon/Winter Soldier. With WandaVision, I really only needed to know that He dead and She sad, but this is like a B-story encyclopedia. I don't think I'm necessarily criticizing the show - it might not just be built for my level of MCU membership?

This show has referenced things from winter soldier, IW/endgame, black panther, and a whooooole lot of new comics shit and we are on episode 3

they are pretty unapologetic about how they expect you to stay aware of MCU things... or read summaries on the internet after

I love that general audiences can now experience 'comic book canon' effect

except now there's no Editor's Note to tell you what they're referencing

Honestly good, tired of movies and shows treating people like idiots. If you can't remember the plot threads then look it up later.

You don’t need to know everything about everything to follow Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Like after the episode everyone was losing their shit about Madripoor. I looked it up and saw it was a fictional comic place more connected to the X Men. While watching the episode, not knowing that didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the episode.

Yeah. I just thought it was made up for the show, and it made my shadowrun-loving self VERY happy.

To be fair, them using Madripoor is definitely a tease. Shows that now they have access to stuff they probably couldn't show before. The MCU earth is about to become a lot more like the comics.

True, but again, not knowing it’s comic roots doesn’t mean you can’t follow the story. It was a name drop for fans, and they gave a quick description of what the place is before they got there.

It was no different to Wakanda. It’s a fictional place from the comics, anything more you need to know they will tell you in the movie/episode.

Makes you wonder if Sokovia would have been Latveria if they'd had the FF rights back then.

Nah, they would have already burned Latveria it on a Fantastic Four movie by that point if they had the rights.

I guess that's confirmation that MCU Asgardians don't get the benefit of resurrection and we won't get a kid Loki. In retrospect, kind of a punk way to end mainline Loki. At the time I think it was glossed over because it was assumed it would be undone or was a trick.

Why would that be a confirmation that the undusted Asgardian didn't get recombobulated? Loki died from a snap rather than the Snap, so Banner's wish wouldn't have restored him (or the half of Asgardian killed when the ship was attacked).

So there's every likelihood a bunch of Asgardians got rezzed by Banner.

He's referencing the comics where the Asgardians, being actual metaphysical gods, are part of a cycle of death and rebirth, so they can just come back to life when the plot requires it.

Banner tried to bring Natasha back though, so it stands to reason that, at the very least, he thought he could bring people back who hadn't been snapped.

We still don't know if he resurrected the Asgardians that died off-screen during Infinity War.

I would guess no? "Bring back everyone Thanos ever killed" might have been a more efficient wish, in retrospect...

I assume Nat was an exception though, since her soul was part of the Gauntlet, that wish just causes a big nope to happen. Always assumed that's why Hulk has such a hard time doing the Snap, he's trying to force the Gauntlet to do something it can't.

    Oh brilliant

The show does do the footnote thing, in dialogue. If the audience doesn't remember who Zemo is, that's no big deal they gave a summary as they were arguing about breaking him out. Don't remember Sharon? Same thing as she explains why she's pissed at Sam. Don't know Ayo? That's fine, she's here for Zemo so that probably means she's a Wakandan mad that he killed their king (see: the Zemo summary earlier in the same episode).

The stuff like Madripoor being an x-men reference doesn't matter for the story so it remains unsaid.

I think it's handled pretty well.

There remains the possibility, however slight, that he successfully brought Nat back to life, but she's not in this timeline, so they assume she's dead.

I have a lot of hopes pinned on Loki and I'm sure it's gonna be another Quicksilver situation for me. Because it really fucking irks me that Nat is dead at all.

And seeing as Loki is not Asgardian in the MCU, even if they had the ability to come back that doesn’t mean he could.

Huh, apparently Smiling Tiger is a character from the comics... A mutant character?

I don't think he's technically a mutant, but what Marvel refers to as a "mystical mutate" because his background on Marvel's website doesn't include any mention of the X-gene (or whatever it is mutants have) but rather he's the result of his father selling his future offspring to some weird mystic cult that is trying to use said children to control some source of power. Of course it also says that Smiling Tiger cannot speak, and Sam speaking didn't raise any suspicion in the show so who knows what Smiling Tiger's deal is in the MCU.

I think in FATWS it was more a joke about characters like Black Lightning unnecessarily describing their race with their name, which is what the Harvey Birdman skit Draconmicron mentions is also poking fun at.

This Key & Peele joke seems aimed more at the original Power Rangers layout where the black guy was the Black Ranger and the asian girl was the Yellow Ranger and the girly girl was the Pink Ranger and the white guys took generic Red and Blue Ranger colors (and later Green).
