You all see that Imperium Magazine is now coming in the US? It's an oddly good deal for GW. Low hopes for the magazine itself, but $50/month for a bunch of free models, paint, and some gifts to those who sign up now is worth it - been toying with the idea of a Necrons army anyway as I have a paint scheme in mind.
For some reason they aren't showing the entire collection this time. About $61 a month with shipping, for 80 months, $4800 dollars, for two armies, over 6 and a half years. I would like to expand on my small necron force, but I dunno w/o seeing the whole collection, and I don't need more space marines.
Think you’re doing the math wrong - subscription is 11.95/issue and they ship 4x issues at a time with $4.95 shipping fee. That works out to about $50/month and 52 issues/year.
Still less economical than just springing for indomitus but I like the idea of getting some models every month vs. spending a lot up front.
I’m working through 5k points of death guard with 3k points of Nids behind it, so slowly accumulating some Necrons over the next 12 months is probably the right speed, at least for me.
I think I was posting at 3 am, I have no idea how I did the math. Wow, I posted completely wrong pricing info. Might be $1060 over 1.7 years? Still would like to know what the full run out would look like model wise.
Is this legit? I still can't find anything official from GW.

Took my Deathwatch against my friends Scions. He has been playing in every tourney he can (had covid in December and actually is vaccinated now do to work and I am vaccinated completely) so I knew I would get trounced. I know his army in part because we played a bunch last year but I was ad mech. My ad mech can pick off half a table on turn 1 if they are up and just have overlapping threats. Just good verse his army. My Deathwatch plays the mission, isn't nearly as killy, and is pretty heavily focused on holding the mid board.

His very much teched to screw with marines and plays what he calls Scion Shock. Basically if he can hit hard turn 2 he wins by taking you off the board. If he doesn't hit you hard enough you take him off the board. I should have tools to survive it well with a 5++/6+++ aura on my central objective holders.
Mission was 21 of the GT packet. 6 objectives, hold 1, hold 2, hold more. 2 in each deployment zone and 2 in the middle. My secondaries were Oath of the Moment, Raise the Banners, Assassinate. He had Assassinate, Engage on All Fronts, and Deploy Scramblers. He won the deployment roll off and went second, I won the first turn.
All my army was in combat squads where possible since the msu style works better I find. I have played this list on table top simulator verse custodes a few times but that is very different.
Turn 1 little action from either of us. I went first and plinked a few wounds off of the valks, he did kill a spectrus combat squad who had both trans human and smoke screen which was really annoying. Just bad luck for me.and great luck for him. Game did go that way which was revenge for our last game with my ad mech where I just rolled 6s on my shooting with exploding 6s 1/3rd of the time. Turn 2 I blew up both valks and failed to kill a squad of scions with my redemptor due to great saves on his part leaving 1 alive. His turn two was game. His scions hit hard and picked up all but a few of my units. Multiple times I had 4-5 saves to make with a 5++ and made 0. Couldn't make a save or fnp to save my life. It wasn't great.
The real kicker though was in turn 3. Charged two open characters, a master of the fleet and tempestor prime with 2 bikes and a sgt with a TH.. I forgot to move and charge in my characters and if I was smart I would have white scared them to make sure I could charge and advance making it even easier. But on my sgt, 4 attacks hitting on 4s with a reroll verse a master of the fleet (so no save and one hit kill), I roll 0 4s with 5 dice due to a reroll. That left him and the prime alive but wounded. I could only tripoint one. Making them vulnerable and causing me to lose 6 more assassinate points.
We ended up calling it there as I would have had maybe my bladeguard and maybe an intercessor squad left after his turn. Final points after talking through it was 81-44. I mean not terrible with how rusty I am. But I know I can do better.
I am retooling about 200 points of the list. Nothing major but replacing the Watch master and lt with a captain with the shield, adding a ven dread and dropping one blade guard. For the most part a very similar list but giving myself more shooting. Also putting the plasma back on the redemptor.
Ok how much as now it's look sadly like 1200 for the whole thing

His list has SO MANY SPECIAL WEAPONS!
That list honestly looks awful to play against
My group has some hardcore competitive folks. He actually is one of my favorite people to play against. Always a good game and a good discussion. In 2019 he went 7-2 at the NoVA Open and won his part of the bracket. But also we live in a super high level competitive area. The GT a group of the guys including him went to a couple weeks back was won by Nanvati and has Mark Perry, TJ Lanigan, and Sean Nayden playing at it. One of our guys actually played I think it was Nayden. I feel pretty good at holding a 50/50 win average in our club due to how good the players are.
One thing to remember is how bad his list is at playing the game. If he has a bad alpha strike/you have a good set of saves or can screen really well which I messed up a bit you can win on the return fire no problem. His army is made of glass and shatters with minimal amounts of pressure. But you have to survive the "scion shock."
For example my ad mech which has a lot more bodies that are sacrifical and are better at holding the board in a wide area has blunted his shock multiple times. And then just picks up 40-50 scions during my next turn.
The Loving Parents genestealer cult were originally the crew of the imperial freighter now renamed The Star Children's Gift, travelling the galaxy in search of their divine saviors (they don't know where the 'nids are and are too few to draw 'nid attention). They occansionally make planetfall to "recruit", trade, or leave "presents" of purestrains. They are fanatically obsessed with increasing their numbers.
Group shot of my GSC KT:
Patriarch "The Antediluvian"
Magos "Mother" Seimona
Neophyte Leader Holluna Gorl
Purestrain "Junior"
Metamorph Leader Kreena Drevender
Heavy Stubber Neophyte Gunner Steen Stennvar
Icon Metamorph Rauss Rezzekh
Rock saw Acolyte Kol Madrach
Metamorphs Nasser Drevender, Davon Gardlinger, and Ghaskin Black
Grenade launcher Neophyte Gunner Basc Tarnright
Flamer Neophyte Gunner Xanda Rezzekh
Neophytes Mallicka Helm, Aldren Kreel, and Michona Black
(The actual 100 pt list skips the two commanders and two of the metamorphs.)

Warhammer Community article is up. Bigger (stronger?) Orks wot go for more, uh, tradeeshunul meff... ways, from all across the Clans. Still mostly snakebites though, like speed freeks are mostly evil sunz.
Ride squigs instead of trukks and buggies, but aren’t totally averse to technology, because rokkit spears are never not funny.
I like that it seems like they don't even throw the rocket spears, they just hang onto them and boost forward with extra powa.
That grot in the back also looks like it has a hook wrapped in pipebombs. So that seems fun.

The crusade rules for Drukhari are absolutely awesome.
You get to play Commoragh Monopoly. Each match you can gain Raid Spoils and then spend them for rolls on a chart in the book that net you "Territorial Dominance" over various territories in Commorragh such as the Howling Gulf (arena) or the Bleak Spiral (Noble Spire). Once you have enough of one type of territory (EG Arena, spire, Incubi shrine, etc) you gain an armywide bonus. Some let your matching units get +1xp per battle (Arenas for Wych cult units, Shadow districts for Mandrakes) and other provide once per battle abilities (toxin distilleries give you a once per battle 2+ poison on a Kabal unit) or affect your economy (docks make getting raid spoils easier and trading districts let you add relics to your army for 0RP).
If you play vs another Drukhari player you can spend RP after a win to steal one of their territories at the risk of adding a battle scar to your Archon.
It is so weird that they aren't advertising this. At least not in the US. I can't find anything on their facebook page or community page about this.
As I recall the AoS version of this was technically produced and distributed by another company, just using GW model components (and presumably some oversight on the lore stuff in the magazines, idk) so GW don't really advertise it much themselves, you'd probably have to go to the magazine company media for proper ads i guess.

At least they finally came to their senses and stopped putting symbols on both the 1 and the 6 like everyone has been complaining about for the past decade.
Switching suppliers and no longer selling dice in their own containers is pretty sad though. If you wanted to keep them separate you'd have to get a completely different bag. I guess it does make it a lot easier to sell them in blocks of 30 instead of just 10 or 12 like before though.

Well it could be like the aspect warrior dice
Number with a tiny rune like symbol
I just use them to keep track of stuff since they are on the smaller side
Still I am torn what to prime first to start as I have a huge pile of stuff I built over the last year
Also my copy of piety and pain arrived from the void today!
So debating since this morning about what to prime I built a succubus with a blaster
Just I am not fond of the head you get with the succubus kit so am just dry fitting heads seeing what looks good on it

Some of them were legible like the those fire dragon dice or the swooping hawks, the others were a on a sliding scale to unreadable
I have the full set + extras of the aspect warrior dice I just use the dark reaper, striking scorpion and dire avenger sets to keep track of wounds and psyhic stuff
Still I am torn of what to prime as I know I will need more than the 1 can of black I got if I want to start priming my drukhari, necrons and finishing my black templars
or I could just get some cans of white and restart the year long painting quest of the wee folk of the tyranids
Indeed. And these are the small dice variant to start with. The numbers are basically smaller than a pip on a normal dice.
I'm never going to understand how fucking bonkers GW's dice designs have been. Like, the threshold for useable dice is literally "You can read the numbers on it and they're all clearly distinct from each other" - which is a pretty fucking low bar - and yet so many of their dice sets have failed to meet it

The realm lords hexagon stick dice still are the oddest dice I have ever seen up there with a set of pig figure dice
think the really out there dice, like the Nurgle Pus dice, The lumineth ones, or the Squig dice are fine as wound markers or stuff like that. They probably roll weirdly, might be a bit hard to read, but at least they're fun/interesting. Something like th Banshee dice is just bad, even moreso when the perfectly fine variants are released right alongside.

Possessed conversions finished - I dub them “the revolting 7”
Eradication beamer is flat 2 damage and ap -3 at 18-36" and 1-18" it is flat 3 damage and ap -4.
Icarus is the same
Neutron laser is now str 12 ap -4 d3+3 damage and is d3 shots.
The big one depending if it sticks is the phosphor blasters for the robots. They twin phosphor is 8 shots (+2 shots) s6 ap -2 d2.
So if that carries over a single shooting robot is 12 shots of s6 ap -2 d2 fire. Which is before doubling.
Surprised that the heavy phosphor is fixed shots while the smaller variants on the sulphur hounds got random shots.
I could also see the onager version getting renamed into a heavier variant than the robot version. It looks quite a bit beefier.

Sulph hounds are a different weapon already. But still phosphor which the big thing for it that it ignores cover saves.

They always felt like the 3w thing was a weird error for a 16 point model.
Edit: I mean I abused the shit out of it but still.
The extremely cynical take is " the rules for these were amazing so everyone bought three boxes, but we really need them to buy three more, so let's cut their staying power so you need more models for the same screen"
Yeah that 9w screen now being 6w protecting my knights is a lot less appealing. Maybe I can make some space for dragoons instead or switch my helverins to warglaives

Dragoons are way too big and way too expensive to use as a screen.
If you need something cheap, quick, and disposable, you're probably best off just running clumps of Vanguard based on what we know. But there's still plenty of codex left to come.

List right now is 6 units of skitarii 3 raiders 3 seers and the rest spent on knights. The general play has been to use the raiders to get in the way of anything that maneuvers pas the infantry. Maybe I juet run more of them.
Raiders are still excellent. They still have the pre-game move we think. They have the fall back when charged. They can flood the board for crazy cheap. They are still an excellent unit even with the loss of the wound. And I still plan to take 6-9 in my army. They play 9th really well.

Do we know they have the fallback? Like that's actually the most important thing, but if you can just trivially shoot them off the board (which just got 33% easier) I'm not sure they're still an immediate no-questions auto-take for every FA slot you have.
Do people put the crew on raiders/venoms when they model them
The various ones hanging on or belted on? As I was building the raider that came in the wych force and was thinking what should I do on the sides for the hooks and spikes

My friend put the Wych crew on his Raiders. They look pretty awesome.
pteraxii and Cawl box also got leaked. no big changes there. flechettes down to 18". Taser weapons all get ap-1. Cawl's axe s+2, his gun goes to flat 3 damage. phosphor flamer stays at ap-1, compared to the ap-2 on the sulphur hounds. bit of an advantage there.

It doesn't tell you past issue 4? what you are getting so I feel they are going to milk it
Really bits and pieces are tempting like the sisters and much of the necrons just I need to think about it
His list has SO MANY SPECIAL WEAPONS!

- Patriarch "The Antediluvian"
- Magos "Mother" Seimona
- Neophyte Leader Holluna Gorl
- Purestrain "Junior"
- Metamorph Leader Kreena Drevender
- Heavy Stubber Neophyte Gunner Steen Stennvar
- Icon Metamorph Rauss Rezzekh
- Rock saw Acolyte Kol Madrach
- Metamorphs Nasser Drevender, Davon Gardlinger, and Ghaskin Black
- Grenade launcher Neophyte Gunner Basc Tarnright
- Flamer Neophyte Gunner Xanda Rezzekh
- Neophytes Mallicka Helm, Aldren Kreel, and Michona Black

Warhammer Community article is up. Bigger (stronger?) Orks wot go for more, uh, tradeeshunul meff... ways, from all across the Clans. Still mostly snakebites though, like speed freeks are mostly evil sunz.
Ride squigs instead of trukks and buggies, but aren’t totally averse to technology, because rokkit spears are never not funny.

That grot in the back also looks like it has a hook wrapped in pipebombs. So that seems fun.
It is so weird that they aren't advertising this. At least not in the US. I can't find anything on their facebook page or community page about this.
What is the point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable? ~ Mario Novak
I never fear death or dyin', I only fear never trying.

As I recall the AoS version of this was technically produced and distributed by another company, just using GW model components (and presumably some oversight on the lore stuff in the magazines, idk) so GW don't really advertise it much themselves, you'd probably have to go to the magazine company media for proper ads i guess.
Also me...

Just I am not fond of the head you get with the succubus kit so am just dry fitting heads seeing what looks good on it
Some of them were legible like the those fire dragon dice or the swooping hawks, the others were a on a sliding scale to unreadable
Still I am torn of what to prime as I know I will need more than the 1 can of black I got if I want to start priming my drukhari, necrons and finishing my black templars
or I could just get some cans of white and restart the year long painting quest of the wee folk of the tyranids
Possessed conversions finished - I dub them “the revolting 7”
Ad mech leaks so far.
Onager is really interesting.
They always felt like the 3w thing was a weird error for a 16 point model.
Edit: I mean I abused the shit out of it but still.
I could also see the onager version getting renamed into a heavier variant than the robot version. It looks quite a bit beefier.
Sulph hounds are a different weapon already. But still phosphor which the big thing for it that it ignores cover saves.
The extremely cynical take is " the rules for these were amazing so everyone bought three boxes, but we really need them to buy three more, so let's cut their staying power so you need more models for the same screen"
Do we know they have the fallback? Like that's actually the most important thing, but if you can just trivially shoot them off the board (which just got 33% easier) I'm not sure they're still an immediate no-questions auto-take for every FA slot you have.
The various ones hanging on or belted on? As I was building the raider that came in the wych force and was thinking what should I do on the sides for the hooks and spikes
