I would actually be very happy to try to go to PAX with Theia under normal circumstances... I’m just not nuts about the possibility that things could change between states while we are away or even while we’re in the air. That would be a bit rough with a toddler, unless WA is a bit more chilled out by then (e.g., only needing to quarantine until you get a negative result).

I might just see how things change and shift between now and then, particularly with the vaccine rollout.

    Whaaaat
I can't even imagine going with my kid.
I'd probably be going to Melbourne if I did go rather than to PAX, and then going to the aquarium and other more looky tourist places.

I suppose group meetups would be fine, but that would only require drifting around the convention centre rather than a PAX pass.

We wouldn’t bother with a 3-day pass, honestly. But I’d certainly try to spend some time there on one or two of the days, then spend the rest of the time just exploring Melbourne. And tabletop gaming will definitely be more subdued since we’d be beholden to her schedule, but we’d make it work. Early dinners + folks over to our place (wherever we end up staying) for games in the evening after she’s gone to bed, for example.

PAX has always been about the people more than anything else for us! And we can always host folks at ours during the day if they need a place to just chill or play some games in between panels.

Ever googled whether or not Anzac day rolls to Monday and not noticed the article is referring to WA then not showing up for work on Monday?

    Yeah me neither.

In Victoria we traded it for the Friday before the AFL Finals off.

I think it helps spread out the public holidays over the year rather than cramp them at the start.

Does anyone have any tattoo artists in Sydney (or Melbourne, Canberra I guess) that they'd recommend?
I'm looking for something skewing towards "realism" end of the scale, and birds if that helps.

Chris Jones at Vic Market Tattoo specialises in geometric style tattoos, but his nature stuff is really cool too (I like when he combines nature with geometric stuff.)

Unfortunately they were just there temporarily and are now in NYC.

Are you looking for colour or blackwork?

    N0ice Fuzz.

I have seen these guys in Maroubra (obviously I'm harassing people through other avenues apart from the forums): https://kaleidoscopetattoo.com.au/ and am guessing they were doing a residency there.

I am definitely looking for colour. I guess without getting too into detail I want a Flame Bowerbird doing its thing.

Tbh the first thing Blake ever says when you come up in conversation is that you’re a top bloke, a nice guy, and we wish we could hang out with you more. So if that’s you being in a not-great place… maybe go a bit easier on yourself.

Yeah I wish it was easier to hang. Perth is far right now though.
I also haven't been back home to Melb since December 2019, basically when my all my shit started to fall apart. So I kind of owe a visit there soon.
It's been a fucking year though I tell you what!

I have been looking at this person for tattoo now: https://www.instagram.com/maija_tattoo their shit is good.

Regarding PAX this year, I'll consider going if other folks are there or there abouts, but otherwise probably giving it a pass for the first time.

It dawns on me it's been literally years since I have caught up with anyone from PA.

Would anyone in Sydney like to grab a beer (or whatever else to be honest? I'm inner west but can travel so long as it's on public transport routes.

This'll be the first year I'm missing it. I don't have the cycles to think about it right now and I don't know that I will by then. Also it's kinda far from here risks of cancellation etc.

You’ll have an entire crew in Perth ready to hang out if you make the trip! And we haven’t even hung out with each other recently so we’d make double the effort!

I am down for sure. I work right up against Darling Harbour, and the Oxford is ~15 minutes walk from house.

Maybe in a couple of weeks? I need a little bit to recover from my brother visting!

I will be moving back to Melbourne also. But when is a bit sketchy. Hopefully soon but I'm unlikely to be allowed right now. And I need to fix up / sell my house.

My dog is going down next week though. As I need him out from under my feet to achieve the things. I am going to be sad and miss him. He thinks compost is a tasty treat.
