damn y’all out here expecting a teenager to be a font of good decisions?
It goes without saying of course that the problem is with the framing of the story and the author's intent and nothing to do with Annie's decision making.
I'm not sure that Annie is saying what people think she is saying. I feel like something has been learned by her in this statement.
For previous Annie, people badmouthing her dad led her to trying defend him, even once brushing Kat off when she tried to protect Annie herself from Tony's shitty behavior. "I don't care that people think my dad is a shitlord" reads to me that Annie realizes he shouldn't be defended by her anymore. I could be wrong, though.

Real interesting that the necessary tech and most of the scientists remain. I absolutely don’t think the author wants to do a sequel, but as it stands this world can get new monsters.

In sad news for good reasons, Witchy is going on a two-year hiatus. Full details from the author are below. The short version is the author is getting paid via a full-time gig.
And with that, we reach the end of chapter 6!
Now for an announcement which is both kind of a bummer and kind of exciting. Bummer part first—Witchy is going on hiatus for about 2 years. Which, I know, is a hideously long time to take a break (and on such a depressing chapter end, sorry.) But let me explain:
The good news is I've been given the opportunity to make one of my dream comics and for the first time earn a living wage while doing it. (Details incoming once I'm actually allowed to speak about any of it, lol) But it is a full time gig, and if there's anything I learnt from making Witchy while studying full time, it's that it leaves very little room for actually enjoying life. (AKA: I burnt myself out beyond all reason last time I tried it.) I believe that if I tried to balance the two, both works would suffer exponentially for it.
So I've opted to make the extremely difficult decision to put Witchy on hold while I focus all my passion into this other project. Witchy isn't going anywhere anytime soon, I promise— the entire story is fully outlined; I've started script work on chapter 7. I am still extremely excited for the story and where it's yet to go in the future (the best is yet to come!) There are even plans in the works for a print edition of volume 2, collecting chapters 5 + 6.
But unfortunately we "live in a society" and I have to prioritise projects, and Witchy sadly doesn't pay (all) the bills, so, hiatus it is. If you would like to continue to support my work and get exclusive sneak peaks on my new project in the meantime, I would greatly appreciate it if you subbed to my patreon. $5+ patrons especially gain access to a huge backlog of work that has not yet been made public.
If you're unable to offer financial support, all good! You can always follow me on twitter @cousineggplant or @witchy_comic to keep up to date with all my goings on, I will be posting lots of updates and snippets from my new work over the next couple of years.
Lastly, thank you all for supporting me over the past 7 years, I doubt I would have gotten this wonderful opportunity without you! I might pop in with some guest art or omake occasionally, but otherwise, see you in 2 years ✌❤️✨
Man I wish I was broken in that way. Instead I do the reverse and just remember being depressed and scared for the whole time and none of the happy moments.
I feel like there's some super subtle allegory going on here.
Nah, you're imagining things. This is just a fantasy story about dwarfs and elves and stuff.
I'm real curious when Rich Burlew decided on this bit. Supposedly he had the general story for like two decades now but, boy, does this bit feel kinda topical.

Without major spoils this basic grievance was first expounded on in the print-only Start of Darkness. Though I wouldn't doubt 14 years of stuff happening has given him the experience to convey the idea in contemporarily relevant language

Yeah, while it is very topical to the current environment, it's been in the making for a long time. Which makes sense because reason it's topical now is because that subject has been occurring for a very long time and is just coming to a head again as it has in the past.

The discussion thread of the last one got locked twice because those forums have a no politics rule.
So yeag, Elves and Goblins.
