Hey on the topic of horror games, how was Outlast 2?

It’s on GamePass and I’m in the mood for an actual scary game, after the comedy that was RE Village.

Anyone remember that Lucasarts FPS western Outlaws?

That was a fun game. I played it a ton. My dad even played it, however he'd just turn on god mode and infinite ammo and cackle a lot.

RE4 still used tank controls and you had specific limitations (no movement while aiming, no strafing) that makes it feel stiffer and more restrictive than more modern third person shooters. Yeah, the game was built around that and all, but tuning it something more like the recent remakes could make it feel smoother and more intuitive.

Ok I played a few more minutes last night and I figured out what was bugging me. I could handle the not moving part, but what I didn’t like was that the sight does not stay on the center of the screen while you aim. The laser is so narrow and it was hard to tell for sure where it is pointing, especially if you’re trying to be precise on a target more than a few feet away.

I think that's true for some/many people, yeah

But conspiracy theories for a lot of other people are a way of seeing order in chaos and happenstance. Uncertainty is scary for a lot of folks, and something that says, "There IS a pattern, you don't need to be scared of the unknown any more" is very appealing.

For some folks, tragedy on a wide-enough scale short-circuits their brain. It's easier to believe in a cabal of all-powerful bad guys than to believe that tragedy is unpredictable, that it can just happen, that life is more fragile and unpredictable than they realized.

For some folks they go deep into a conspiracy hole, don't trust the banks to hold their gold, hide it in the roof, and then lose it all when a once in a lifetime tornado destroys their roof specifically.

    Wait

Didn't you lose your house roof in a tornado...?

I believe he is accurately describing what happened to his then-roommate.

    Yuuuuuuup

    lmao

who puts their gold in the attic?

    1) gold is mad heavy
    2) you bury treasure ya dingus

@Munkus Beaver okay I'm sorry to bring this up so much later but...

did he ever find the gold? did the tornado just hurl gold bars willy-nilly or was it a treasure chest scenario?

because it would be a pretty cool day to walk outside and see your shed is gone but your front yard is studded with krugerrands, like birdshot from a totally bitchin' giant shotgun.

    Oh.

No, he never found the gold.

He spent the entire rest of the day (possibly week) looking for his gold.

He used to be a hedge fund manager type person before he enrolled, so it was not an insignificant amount of gold.

Since our house was in one of the poorest parts of Tuscaloosa my head canon is that a poverty stricken family recovering after the tornado found bank.

I should note two other things.

    1. Our house had been burglarized once before, the thieves took his weed/guns, my other housemates weed, and my bottle of decoy drugs (I put a bottle full of Metronidazole on a shelf by my door in a bottle labeled Oxycodone 10, because somebody had burgled me once before for my meds....I did this under the assumption that any prospective thieves would drink and do the drugs at the same time. Because Metronidazole has a, let's say, unpleasant reaction if you take it with alcohol) so he probably didn't feel safe keeping his shit in plain view or even in a safe in the house.
    2. I had no idea about the gold until the tornado and he was looking depressed and going through the rubble, and I asked him what he was doing.

Attic gold should be invested in batcoin.

Attic gold should be sold to a certified precious metals dealer and the resulting money should be put in a professionally managed high yield stock focused investment fund

I take Rob's frustrations about the tutorial stuff feeling like it ends too soon and him not understanding all the processes quite yet to heart though. I would like an update of him saying he's figures it out and actually the game is able to be parsed with a bit of experimentation, or if they update the game with some better tutorialization or in-game help references.

As it is the game is $25 which is a bit more than I am willing to drop atm on a strategy game I would definitely need to put more time in than the refund window before seeing if the issues are too much or not for me.
