Do so while reading Walden and rocking an 80's pony tail to go full Henley.

I'm glad the Black Keys are starting to jam again. The new stuff is starting to sound like they're back in that Chulahoma or Rubber Factory vibe. I dig it.

Edit: that said I actually never got in to their last album Let's Rock. Lo/Hi was good but beyond that I don't think I ever heard anything other than Eagle Birds.

Double edit: I'm still kinda bummed my favorite Dan Auerbach project The Arcs only got one album and a few singles. Yours, Dreamily is so good.

I tend to like a lot of Amaranthe metal covers

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0LzfNk28K-0

They are metal, but generally enough of a different genre of metal that's it's interesting to see what they do to powermetal songs.

I like a decent slice of Amaranthe, but can't do them for long periods/whole playlists. Was a fan/knew of Elize before they took off, as I saw/heard her twice during Kamelot's Silverthorn tour with Nightwish in 2012 (Annette's second to last show and the Denver karaoke experiment).

They certainly take a shotgun approach to writing and will try almost anything to see if it works, like I still have no idea how you classify this:

Been listening to Worm Shepherd a lot lately, and they've got me really wanting to find more blackened deathcore to add to my list.

edit: I also want to say I think the singer is only like, 19? Which is just fuckin wild to me, the dude is hella talented. The drummer is also like 17, which damn

Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen have put out a duet and as you can imagine, if you're familiar with their work, it's a total knock out. The rest of the band on this track is made up of Dave Hartley (from The War On Drugs), Zac Rae (from Death Cab For Cutie), and Griffin Goldsmith (from Dawes).

The remaining members of The Tragically Hip (RIP Gord Downie) have released a 6-track mini album of previously unreleased tracks that came out of the recording sessions for their album Road Apple. I'm surprised that they never found their way to other albums, they're all pretty great!

Exploring the deathcore hole some more and I'm currently enjoying Infant Annihilator a lot. Their Blasphemian music video is even where I got my latest avatar, though I'll just link the song because the video is definitely NSFW

    https://youtu.be/taPp6PZTnls

Also, Slaughter to Prevail, the band that got me into deathcore in the first place, released another single with a video and finally a release date for their upcoming album, KOSTOLOM, on August 13th and I'm super excited.

Appearently these were thought to be lost in the Great Universal Fire of 2008, but I guess not! Great news for Hip fans! I don't mind the band one way or the other, but I'll be damned if their earlier tracks don't awaken something deep within my Prairie blood.

Not really my thing, but I respect the chops on the guitarist and drummer. I've watched some of Leo's drum covers and he definitely got skills and not just for his age.

His right hand can drag ever so slightly when switching on the snare in blast patterns, but his footwork is great and his overall rudiments are solid as hell. He's the kinda guy that could go any direction he wants with his playing as he keeps developing.

The opening riff of Riot's Swords and Tequila is almost identical to the opening riff of Iron Maiden's Two Minutes to Midnight and I feel like I just stumbled onto some National Treasure illuminati shit.

Not the hippest concert, but just got tickets to Willie Nelson's Outlaw Music Festival for September along with a camping pass to crash that night at the venue. Super excited to finally see him.

Chord voicings are slightly different between the two, but it is pretty close. One of my favorite examples of that type of homage comes from The Offspring and Dream Theater:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ND7a3Uv5CnE

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3u7OaTIFNk

The chorus and bridge in Trial of Tears (roughly starts at the 3:50 mark in the live vid) basically is the main riff in Amazed, just arpeggiated rather than full chords and works pretty damn well.

Aw they're sold out, unsurprising though.

I had pre-ordered it since it was only like 12 bucks

I expected it to ship closer to June something though

It's coming from Michigan too I guess so it shouldn't be super long?

The track from the new perturbator titled secret devotion, the vocalist sounds super familiar... Especially at the part like two minutes in. And it's really bothering me I can't figure out what from.

I'm pretty sure its Isabel from True Body a post-punk/synth band from Virginia:

I accidentally grabbed extra bass earbuds woopsie

I actually laughed out loud when I heard drums on them

It's not bad I guess but... People really like this huh? It's so weird when I'm so used to open back sennheiser over ears. I just needed something my new phone could drive better that hopefully will last longer than the kz ones that died after I dropped them. The cord is so skinny though.

New red fang album is good so far

Seems a little slower and sludgier than their last couple to me.
