Black Sabbath came out in 1970! And it still rules!
It is extremely safe to say the heavy metal landscape would be wildly different, if not straight up non existent without Black Sabbath.
And starting on Masters of Reality Tony moved down to Db/C# tuning to help with the lack of grip strength from the 2 missing finger tips (with the added benefit of making the guitar tone ballsier), over 20 years before Korn existed.

Upon reading that @Juggernut is in the market for a bass, I will offer some advice, it's best to start learning simple yet familiar songs to get acquainted with your new toy, like some early 80's Michael Jackson:
Hey music thread, can I request some recommendations? I'm looking for string-heavy tracks for background music. Bonus points if they can be directly purchased from the artists off of Bandcamp or similar.
I'm a real sucker for cello/violin/viola centric pieces in particular.
Another uses the hook from an ODB song to sell a washing machine as I totally forgot about this song and then it played non stop in my head https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQlHYvy0xdU
I'd heard of Lorna Shore before but hadn't gotten around to checking them out until today because they released a new single a couple weeks ago featuring the band's new singer. Gotta say, I'm a big fan! I'll give their other stuff a listen and see if I like their previous singer as much

I’d be lying if I said I usually listen to music like this but I played it all the way through and loved it! That bit from about 2:30 to 3:10 is beautiful! The 5:00 guitar is badass. Then it gets drops back into a DOOM boss vibe. Nice.
Also, Jinjer dropped a new single recently from their upcoming album and it's a fuckin banger. I just love her vocals, both clean and screaming, and her breath control and enunciation are amazing. The rest of the band is fuckin great too, just awesome all around

Tatiana is ungodly talented, probably the most versatile female that does both clean and harsh right now.. Though I really like Courtney LaPlante's harsh in Spiritbox and Lauren Hart of Once Human and Adrienne Cowan of Seven Spires both have great cleans and have been improving their growls and screams. Adrienne first got notice with a great vocal cover of Serpentine Offering:

Oooo, I'm not familiar with the original song, but that is impressive. She looks and sounds kinda like one singer I saw that opened for Otep years ago, but I forget their name. She's probably not who I saw, but she made me think of em anyways.

Let’s get proper cyberpunk.
but yesterday I was in line at a coffee place and Nea's 2020 "Some Say" came on, and I went
hold on,
Is that the fucking melody from I'm Blue Da Be Dee Da Be Di
And it was

It's also entirely in Latin, which should be surprising but really, weirdly, isn't.
Seriously though, it's kinda lighthearted, not super serious thrash which is rare to find.
Maybe NSFW for animated cartoon violence and like, a brief shot of some kinda Hanna-Barbera lookin goblin titties.
