I wonder what the break-even point is for flying to japan and buying the models there.

I always hear about "black tar heroin" in movies. What are the other grades? Dark amber heroin, purple horseshoe heroin, USDA Choice heroin?

Tycho was merely a go-between for that heroin, he didn't purchase it. You can transport, store, and even use heroin without ever knowing it's resale value. Or quality, for that matter. I always thought "black tar" was the "It's Probably Heroin in the same way that it Probably Won't Kill You" version. I dunno if I care to look it up though

I thought this was a weird choice of analogy. Black tar heroin is the cheapest, lowest quality, and easiest to find variety of a drug that is a major part of the current and ongoing "opioid epidemic" in America. But "difficult and expensive" is a matter of perspective, I suppose.

I suspect black tar heroin is still more expensive and difficult to find than a normal consumer product for the average Joe.

Also, they don't know anything about it, as stated

Also, "black tar heroin" as a phrase has a history in entertainment. It's often delivered in an melodramatic way in police procedurals. They used it for that punch.

It sounds way more hardcore than normal heroin.

"He was shooting up heroin" vs "He was shooting up black tar heroin."

That line still tickles me even ~15 years later :-)

Alright, hold up. So if black tar is the bad heroin, what's the premium stuff? Pale horse?

What is this I don't even.

white powder, generally; 'black tar' is essentially heroin that hasn't been refined as rigorously (and/or with impurities left in)

Impurities can also be added in to decrease the amount of actual heroin being sold and increase your profit margin. Though this usually leads to a shrinking customer base as your buyers die from whatever crap you put in there

Technically, Tycho wasn't doing the buying there.

I'm not sure I'll ever get tired of Tycho wearing that black motorcycle helmet outdoors, lest the sun cause him to burst into flames Udo Kier style.
