I am officially spending way too much on spider and spider adjacent things.

200 total on three enclosures isn't half bad though.

I'm getting more and more scared of this winter. Oklahoma is in the bottom five states for vaccination rates and new cases, and I'm afraid the local political will is only hardening against even the most basic covid mitigation measures. I'll count myself lucky if the governor doesn't ban wearing masks in public before Christmas, and we're damn sure not going to be able to close the libraries down again.

Thoughts and prayers and mail me some booze, I guess.

Got my second Pfizer shot today and I can already feel that this'll be a fun weekend. I can't believe I'll have to spend it lying on the couch, instead of my original plan of spending the weekend lying on the couch.

That actually sounds amazing. Whatever is on those buoys would be great for making oyster reefs, both for eating (presumably in cleaner waters) and for coastal protection (anywhere).

My neck hurts so bad. it woke me up at 2am this morning and nothing helped until I iced it for a bit. I can still barely move it.

Doctors aren't doing freaking anything, pt seems to be making it worse. God I hate this.

Sorry I just needed to go l vent about it a bit I'm not good at coping with pain.

The Olympics are going to be torturous for athletes given that the projected temps are for the hottest Olympics by far, with maybe even WBGT beyond 30 degrees C

also the extremely lax enforcement of covid restrictions by both the ioc and the Japanese government. multiple friends of mine have seen olympians in huge groups out and about in the city, trying to get into capacity restaurants and bars, when they were still supposed to be quarantined, fully ignoring mask mandates.

it's just a shitshow all around and i haven't met one single person here who is happy about anything related to the olympics, it sucks

Seems like it. It's been coming and going since like two years ago at least. It's been way worse the past month or so though.

Are you able to get any massage or use any massage-devices on your neck, back, and shoulders? Sometimes my neck and shoulders get so tight that they give me headaches (I hold all my stress there, and I have a lot of stress) but I run a vibrating massage thing over them to relax them and that deals with the headache.

Do you know if it's a nerve issue vs a muscle issue? It might be MRI time if they haven't given you an official diagnosis.

  • TallahasseerielTallahasseeriel Registered User regular
Yeah I don't have one at the moment though. Lately Ice helps a little.

They say it's a pinched nerve, I'm really hoping it's not a full on disk issue at this point.

I've got such a limited range of movement in my neck this past couple weeks though is awful.

  • CelloCello Registered User regular
You should ask the physio how to handle the pain, but in particular I do find occasionally that the day after my exercises sometimes I'm a bit sore

However, keeping with the program over time got me to the point where my back is painless about 90 percent of the time, except for when I sleep particularly badly, so keep with it as best you can

You might find if it's a chronic injury that a heating pad will do more than ice; I've been using mine pretty religiously for my neck pain/plantar fasciitis and it does help release the tension

A "pinched nerve" isn't really a diagnosis, it's more of a symptom. Is it an impingement, a subluxated vertebra, or maybe stenosis? Or some combination?

Yeah it's really tough to get enough rest to let it heal good because it acts up so badly at night when I'm trying to sleep. I only slept 4 hours last night. Like I don't get and maintaina good seal on my CPAP when my neck and arms are hurting so badly I can't get comfortable at all.

I have my second pt appointment tomorrow, I've been doing their posture exercises they told me as much as I can manage but not as much as they told me I should be. I just can't. They make me so sore.

I wish there were anything I could take to manage the pain. Ibuprofen hurts my stomach and I don't like taking much Tylenol for fear of liver damage.

My state does medical THC for chronic pain but it's extremely expensive to get the card.

They didn't tell me, this was from the er. They took x-rays but weren't very clear with me then sent me home with a shot of torodol.

Specifically when I went it was more in my left arm where it radiates pins and needles and pain down to my fingers.

What the paperwork said was cervical radiculopathy. That's all I know.

You could try 2 Aleve which is almost identical to a dose of Naproxen according to the doctor I went to for my back.

When I goofed my shit up good and couldn't sleep due to extreme pain in my leg Naproxen was the only thing that gave me any relief.

Of course I Am Not A Doctor so consult with a physician before doing anything.

X-rays can be used to rule things out, but that isn't gonna give them the full picture. Even with a CT scan or an MRI, it can vary based on which machine they used and who they had reading it.

no but for real, you need to go see your GP for a referral to a specialist and be very explicit about describing the pain and locations you feel it

nerve problems and damage are predominately diagnosed by ruling stuff out rather than other injuries

Welp, I'm going in a for a rapid test.

I got slack while helping out around the meadery since just about everybody there is fully vaccinated and I didn't have my mask. However, the one person who apparently was not and I was in close contact with Thursday tested positive Saturday. And about an hour ago I started getting a sore throat.

So let's see if my shitty body can somehow get this again despite both vaccines and having already previously had it.

Ok, it was negative. I guess my shitty body also has an extremely shitty sense of humor..
