It used to be a 1 mana (0 if upgraded) power that did a damage to all enemies at the end of your turn for each attack you played that turn. So it was like a much more narrow Thousand Cuts.
Shitty thousand cuts - It did the same as thousand cuts, but fired at the end of the turn, and scaled to attacks, not to every card played. Also you coulndt upgrade it's damage.
Honestly, it's badness was kinda overstated - it was a number tweak or two away from actually being quite strong, but it wasnt exactly an interesting card. New version's a lot better because it gives a spicy reason to play with very dangerous cards

The easiest heart win I ever had was a shiv deck where I got both the shuriken and the kunai, along with after image because why not. Honestly the game should have just called it after act 2.

I just had a A3 victory with a Shiv deck against the Time Eater of all bosses, largely owing to having a multiple Accuracy cards, Phantasmal Killer, Ornamental Fan and Shuriken.

I think most of my successful Silent runs are Shiv runs. It's kinda funny since the all-star cards for successful Shiv runs don't have the word Shiv on them at all. After Image, Footwork, Terror, Thousand Cuts and Choke (these last two only if you have an energy relic). Once you get like 2 of each of Cloak and Dagger and Blade Dance, I largely find it better to cut strikes than add any more Shiv cards. The more I play, the more I like Cloak and Dagger over Blade Dance, too, but I still think I'd prefer a 2/2 split over other variations.

Noita is just too random for me to get into. That and it's just way to big?
I uno, I like it's physics and blow everything upness but it never feels like you really get to engage with that part of things.

I've never had a successful shiv deck.
I've had runs where I'm drowning in shivs, but no support cards.
Ive had runs where I'm drowning in support cards, and not a single shiv generator.
on reflection, this deck/setup isn't that strong
It's lacking corpse explosion, specimen, envenom, and nightmare/multiple catalysts to really do burst damage to multiple targets
but it does have a decent amount of card draw and defensive options though
A20 heart down. I started with the choker so I went for higher cost cards and was rewarded with a snecko eye later.
