He said it last year but made continuing them a stretch goal if they got enough donations.
Frankly I just think it's really cool and admirable that he turned something that started as a silly meme into something that people look forward to every year while also raising hundreds of thousands for charity.
The fact that he's been doing them every year and managed to top the previous videos every single time is nothing short of amazing.
I can't imagine how hard it is to keep coming up with more and more ambitious ideas and somehow make it all come together every year with the strict deadline his videos have.

The logical progress of these videos will be Earth Wind and Fire actually being in it and also Demi is actually on the International Space Station.
in addition to the production, Demi is still one of the funniest people around
"the puppet needs less lines" fucking killed me.
He had a great guest spot on one of my favorite podcasts, Hey Riddle Riddle
Always gotta shout out early Punch Up The Jam!
And the pen-penultimate episode!
That's one that only really works if you listened to at least a few episodes of the main Demi run of the show though (which tobefaiiiiir is like 2/3rds of the episode count)

Wow. We're just about to flip to the 22nd EST, and it's up to nearly 720k. Even as someone who watches Games Done Quick speedrun donations, that's incredible.
do we think someone else could take up the mantle? or is this just a demi thing? would be cool to keep the charity aspect going
I certainly think folks should try
Making a dumb video and picking a charity for people to donate to if they liked it seems at least fairly straightforward, even if it wouldn't automatically reach the heights that Demi's stuff has over the years
I wish the apparent approval of the band would mean he could put the original versions out that had the real songs instead of the odd remix things he had to use.

...I fully assumed the remixes were part of the joke and were an artistic choice, not a copyright thing!
Because those out of tune REMEMBUUUUUH in some of them are hilarious.

Technically, they are in this year's video.

Up past $650k now, 30% over their goal number in less than 24 hours. You love to see it
Yeah sounds like he's hanging it up. Which, honestly, understandable, he'd have to escalate to doing it inside the White House or some shit.
Charity's up over 800k today.

So you're saying we should wake you up when September ends?
(The man just wants to escape this but folks are too generous.)
