Nothing of real note beside the little regional college affiliation quirk. CBS has the GOTW so no Buckman on Sunday.
Oh, and given the huge success of the seventeen game season, there is a trial balloon being sent up about possibly adding another game and four more teams to make the scheduling work. (LA London, Toronto, San Antonio, and St. Louis are the names being tossed around. [Because San Antonio is a huge market. Better than seven other teams!]) Again, just a trial balloon/leak likely to drum up business for potential expansion fees and free stadiums. Nothing is actually in the works at this time.
And for funsies, the three largest US markets that do not have their own teams are Orlando, Sacramento, and Portland and I think you'd be hard pressed to suggest that Orlando needs a team being nearly central to all Florida teams. The next three markets are St. Louis, Raleigh-Durham, and San Diego (Salt Lake City even comes in before San Antonio). So obviously, the NFL has their finger on the pulsecarotid purse strings.
In all the speculation over potential new cities, there will probably be little discussion on just how they would fit in with current divisional structure. But, I guess if the MLS can expand beyond reason, why not the NFL?

In a world where the hypothetical became real (I don't think London actually happens anytime in the foreseeable future, but never say never), I feel like if they didn't put London in the same division as the patriots they would be missing out on a huge marketing opportunity.

Especially given franchise teams tend to suck early on, and if Billo can remain upright the Pats will at least be above mediocre, so that's a decade at least of the Pats winning that "war" over and over again.
The question I have, if they add four more teams, is how it affects the divisions. Can't throw them all into a 7th, because which conference do they go in? Anything else ruins the playoff setup (chance of winning a division goes down if there's five teams as opposed four).
Also, we've spent how fucking long getting to the point where there's enough quality players at quality positions (including QB) that at least half of the league can put out a decent product? Yay for diluting that! It's not like there's 4 above average QB's waiting in the wings, ready to step into the job.
San Antonio has been "under consideration" for an NFL team for like the past 30 years. There was even a stadium built for the NFL to fill, that promptly got ignored. I do not think the NFL has ever been serious about actually putting a team in San Antonio, and has instead just used it for leverage to extort new stadiums out of existing markets. I expect this to be more of the same.

The real fun is going to be who gets into the playoffs in the AFC.
Yup. Two divisions with EVERY team over .500.
Titans, and Bills or Pats for sure. Then the other of Bills and Pats, and you've got 8 teams contesting the other 5 spots.
Some slightly favoured over the other, but none in a capacity that's unassailable. The weakest are still fairly strong. And the strongest are heavily flawed.
I was on the Ravens train, but that play against Miami. Was dreadful.
Man. D'Ernest Johnson was just sitting there on my money leagues waiver wire so I grabbed him. The only Brown's rb who doesn't have covid right now.
Do I start him over Eli Mitchell? I just worry the Pat's do what they always do and take away one person, and in this case it would be the starting running back I'm thinking. But then Mitchell is up against the Rams.
Johnson is the best 3rd string RB in the league and honestly probably a top guy on any other team that isn’t just stacked at that position, plus the Browns give their RBs tons of touches- I expect him to have a lot of fantasy points even if he’s somewhat bottled by NE

On my way to Green Bay for the game and I guess it’s already snowing?

Which, yeah.
Gruden just needs to drip leak the emails he got that show some of this seedy behaviour himself because you know he has those “RE: RE: FWD: RE: FWD: Omg it’s so true” type of emails from these guys just sitting in his inbox.

Joy.
Joy indeed! Snow games are awesome!
I think that NFL expansion to 36 teams would lead to two nine team divisions in each conference; top three teams in each division make the playoffs, plus two Wild Cards. So, 16 teams out of 36 would make the playoffs, (2x3+2)x2.

And the schedule is what, 1 game against division opponents and 1 against a different division?

You're never getting less than 1 and 1 against your divisional rivals, which means 16 out of 17 or 18 games against the same teams, every year. I think that'd be cool, but the NFL would not. They don't want the Cowboys to be Haley's comet. With a 17 game schedule, your team would play them every 27 years. If you want to see them in your home stadium, you will have to wait a literal lifetime.
Expansion is death for one-game-per-week sports. Scheduling becomes a tangled mess unless you commit to 'does not play teams in other conference/division/whatever'. And that would certainly be a hard sell just to the networks, let alone fans. For the NFL thirty-two is basically the ideal size and sixteen games was the ideal length. About the only way to maintain the current schedule rotation is to expand by eight teams (on per division) and a season length of twenty games.

Given player breakdown over 16 with a bye is already bad enough, you'ld probably need to put three byes in. So that's almost two extra months added to the calendar. Yeah.....
The other option, with even less chance to be adopted, is a relegation system. Like what UK soccer does. With the best teams in the B division being promoted, and the worst teams in the A division being demoted.
But as no owner is going to want to be in the lower conference, especially if it's merit based.
The thing is, the TV schedule already is perfect for it. Thursday nights is the best match up of B conference, and the entire Sunday 1pm slate. A conference gets S/MNF and the 4pm games.
The answer is to figure out where your league's equilibrium is and stop once you reach it. I can't imagine what sorts of knots the SEC is going to twist itself into to justify whatever schedule they create and enforce all those traditional rivalries and still allow for cross-divisional play (plus cupcakes!) and fit it into a 12+1 game schedule.
The Browns in general seem bad. Johnson had green as far as the camera showed but instead of bouncing outside, just kept pushing forward for 1 yard. Then fumbles it the next play. Mayfield looks terrible, 1 INT already, another was just dropped by the pats. Can’t seem to push the ball downfield.
I really like the current playoff system of one team per division (n) plus (n-1) wildcard teams. And with 4 divisions per conference it works really well.
I think, mathematically/on paper, something like 48 is probably the best number. 6 per division, with 16 going to playoffs, less than a third.
Practically, though, that's impossible. Really 32 is usually okay, but can sometimes feel like either too few or too many from time to time, which probably makes it the biggest practical number. The only downside is the high percentage of teams going to playoffs, but I don't personally give a shit about that I think it's fine.
Schedule wise I'd personally love it if they played every team once, every conference team a second time, and every division team a third time. But that's also a practical impossibility for the NFL.

Browns start looking decent (kicked the shit out of a non-horrible Bengals last week).
Belichick puts a rainbow wig and clownshoes on them. While the Pats aren't great, Bill definitely knows how to just stick a dagger in up-n-comer hopefuls.
Fucking hate that guy, but there's no disputing he's the best coach in at least the modern era.
The commentators on the Dallas/Atlanta game are dipshits.
Up by 33pts, Dak makes a run, and barrels into defenders. "Oh, how brave, what a competitor!". No, it was fucking stupid. Sorry, the game's over, and you're risking the most important player on the team, to go up 40pts.
Especially given the injuries and shit this week. Kamara out for the Saints, Murray AND Hopkins out for the Cardinals, Ben out for the Steelers (yeah, he's crap, but he's better than Rudolph). And in the half hour since I've got home, TJ Watt and Mayfield both got fucked up pretty bad.
I can understand the argument for not pulling Prescott. I can't understand the argument for allowing him to do stupid shit when the game is over.

They need to, they’re a cartel and their growth prospects require shaking down their home markets for more tax dollars
If the math of adding teams shrinks the overall value of 1/32 of the revenue pie, the ownership group will never expand. I think it's more likely they continue to squeeze blood from the stones they have in hand.
My guess is Jacksonville will shit or get off the pot soon and Washington will explore a return to DC now that the name has changed.

Dunno who I have less faith in.
Lions tied, with 4m to go and the ball against the Steelers. OR Washinton up 4 in the Red Zone with 2m to go against the Bucs.

Don't count the Steelers keeping the Lions in it.
What should have been a massive reception, becoming a fumble, and the Lions get the ball back?
Just so much garbage from two crappy teams.
So let's add four more teams! Sure that'll up the on-field quality.
