Players get into a the match and see the map. They then have 15 seconds to all choose a hero without seeing the enemy comp.
Doesn't the game currently try to balance out the types of heroes so the other team has a similar blend? So one team doesn't end up with a proper comp with tank and support, and the other is jus all squishy assassins?
That's the only issue i could see with this, less consistent games as the matchmaking wouldn't be able to make similarly equipped teams. Although there's lots of small things they could probably do to improve A LOT about the game.

It does try this, but small character specific things still ruin the experience. Aba has no similar design to his and he completely warps the game for both teams. Varian is always classified as a Tank, but ends up being a Twin Blade machine leaving your team without a Tank. And Cho'Gal is toxic if the other team isn't given a % damage hero to deal with them.

My wife has a laptop from Walmart that she bought about a year ago. What are the odds that I could get HotS running on it at a reasonable clip? I've been really wanting to play again recently.

Yeah, I always noticed that it would equate certain heroes with others that were nothing alike. Mainly Healers and Support like Medivh and Zarya, so one team would get Zarya while one gets a proper healer.
Playing almost exclusively ARAM for a while, I haven't had to deal w/ an Abathur in some time, so I can't really say I know how game warping he is currently.
I wanted to go on another Aba rant, but it's not worth it.
It would've been cool if there were other heroes like him, and he would only get placed against other eye in the sky type heroes, like how they have the stealth pool. But as it is...it's bad design.
(For the record, I could fix my PC any time. I have simply chosen not to, lol. I'm pretty sure it's just a power supply issue, but it was the excuse I needed to finally drop WoW after 16 years or whatever. Like I said, I could fix it; I just don't want a PC that I could play WoW on tempting me to do so, lol. If my wife's laptop can run HotS, though, that'd be rad, because I do miss it.)
Wait, the computer we all banded together to buy you has already died?!
It hasn't died, lol. I started having some technical issues back in January, and they kind of escalated into February when they started affecting my ability to tank Castle Nathria. I'm like, almost certain it's a power supply issue. @tyrantula22 agrees and has offered to fix it. He literally lives down the road from me. We could get it knocked out in a weekend, lol. Like I said, I have simply chosen not to because it keeps me off of WoW.

If it can run HotS it can run WoW too, WoW is a 2004 game. It will look like hot garbage, but it will scale down and run it.

I don't think this is completely true. The engine has been touched up over the years, and the minimum requirements have accordingly increased over time. There is hardware that could run the game in 2004 that wouldn't be able to today.
That said, I don't know which game has the lower requirements floor between HotS and WoW, but intuitively I would think HotS since it just doesn't feel like it's asking quite as much of a computer. Of course if you can't run it with a decent framerate without stutters it's going to be a frustrating experience.
@milk ducks do you have any info on the model of the laptop?
Yeah, I mean. If I had the willpower to simply not play WoW, it wouldn't have taken a technical issue to get me to stop in the first place lol.
Fair enough. An ex-girlfriend of mine was so hooked into WoW that she quit by changing closing her eyes and mashed out a new password then deleted her associated email address. lol, that's one was to do it.

No shit, guys. WoW Classic just restarted with Season of Mastery, and every day of my life is like that scene in Who Framed Roger Rabbit, where they're hiding behind the false wall in the bar and Judge Doom's trying to lure him out with the shave and a haircut bit.
Have you tried just getting addicted to a different game? Because I still check wowhead on occassion....y'know, just to stalk my WoW on the internet from afar, like it's my ex or something. I don't have a problem. This is fine. I don't miss my old guild. Everything is fine.
I have tried filling the gap with multiple other hobbies, most notably FF14. Recently, I've gotten back into Destiny 2 and that's been a great distraction.
I've also started going back to the gym, working on my music again, etc; so it's not all just redirection toward other games.

Phil Spencer will do literally nothing to alter xbox's relationship with Activision. Everyone is coming out of the woodwork to say how shocked and disappointed they are to hear that Bobby Kotick, of all people -the man at the helm of an exploitative, degenerate, and abusive company- is himself an exploitative, degenerate abuser -- but absolutely no one is going to step up and actually do anything about it.
Even if Kotick does step down, I mean, what does he care? He'll get some absurd, multi-hundreds-of-millions in severance pay, and then doesn't have to deal with all this shit anymore. It's win-win for Bobby. It's not like that slimy fuck's actually going to prison, or looking at facing any actual consequences.
I watched a baseball movie the other day (Moneyball,) and Kotick was the guy the manager had to beg for money. I didn't realize how lifeless the dude's eyes were until I watched him in real time. Kinda skeevy vibes all around.
I always start matches out by giving my team some simple instruction like that, and I think that's beneficial for a number of reasons: for starters, it opens up the lines of communication; you sort of establish yourself as someone with a plan who is willing to step up and call shots; it tells you immediately which players on your team are going to listen and work with you, which players are going to ignore you and do your own thing, etc. All valuable stuff.
Actually they can see a variety of colors, but they don't have red receptors, so they can't see "red" specifically.
They do have the ability to sense the intensity of light, and presumably whether any of that light is a non-red color.
I can't see red myself, and I can see red perfectly fine. It's colors like orange, purple, and especially cyan where things start getting ambiguous, since it's harder to use the total intensity as a context clue.

I have a feeling one of the positive things to come out of this ugly mess with be unionization of programmers and others in gaming
I still play wow but that's due to having my account on the 6 month payment plan
But really I am not feeling shadowlands and have really only played it leveling through it last week other than that I just goof around on alts
But the real question will be what after since this has been a large chunk of my life and with me in various upheavals over the last epoch. I just don't know
You are more optimistic than me if you think this will result in more unionization
I feel because of the way they have poorly handled everything that down the road I feel this is what pushes the needle that way but how is the question
I feel I really should jsut talk about this in another thread

Naaa it's fine. I also have hope of something positive, of being able to be proud of a company I've dedicated so much of myself to in the last decades.

See for me it only took two guilds imploding and an attempt at joining a very toxic/tryhard 25m guild to quit :snap:

Black eyes, like a doll's eyes.
Soak XP.
Do not fight.
Evolve Ults at 10.
Fight with Ults.
Evolve to Silver.
Sadly, I had to type this in the end:
Did not soak.
Fought too much.
Will never evolve to Silver.
